There's a new feature on the movie pages now. Click the "rate this movie" links to find out. Please make sure to read the guidelines regarding rating, on the rating page. Thanks to Warp for implementing most of it! And thanks to TNSe for ideas! And of course we want feedback on the rating feature itself.

Great! By the way, now we have a really democratic and reliable mechanism to determine star-worthiness. Very clever idea indeed, thanks! Edit: Sorting the movies by their rating would be very useful.

Another suggestion would be to be able to look at your own votes together on a page? But this seems like it would be difficult to code. And perhaps it's not all that necessary. Post = pointless.

Can't you already look at runs performed by a specific runner? Maybe whatever programming stuff is used to do that could look at the votes for each run by that runner and display an average vote for the runner at the top of that page or something. This would probably partially satisfy JXQ, although you can never be sure with him. Also, JXQ doesn't have a dancing avatar anymore.

I think he meant not "your runs", but "your votes". :)

I guess you are right, but why would you want to do that?

One guess is to show which movies you have voted on. The other is to determine the difference between your votes and the average rating. Not essential, but still handy.

Moozooh's first guess was my original idea, but as said, it would just be convenient, but easily livable without. Does the system require a certain number of posts to rate movies similar to the voting on submissions?

Golden Axe Movie ratings: My movie in 7:08--Still waiting to be published. My movie in 7:31--Average rating of 5.8 Neofix's obsoletle movie in 8:30--Average rating of 8.9. Ouch. That kinda hurt.

Is this something different from what the link "rate other movies" in the rating page gives?

Obsoleted movies can be rated? Nice. If you look at the obsoleted Golden Axe movie rating, it has 10.0 entertainment and 7.0 perfection, which leads me to believe that only one person voted.

Well, one of the main points of the rating system is that it would be possible to list movies in order of best-rated. However, since the system is still in testing phase and there might still be some changes (depending on the feedback of users) there isn't much hurry right now.

Could we have an option to cancel ratings we've given.

I had that idea from very early on, but somehow it didn't get implemented. If you are unhappy with your ratings for a certain movie, you can always change them. Is there a good reason you want to *remove* them instead?

I voted on my own movie, but later decided I probably shouldn't have.

Maybe there should be a third category to vote on. I don't feel like these two give a full representation of the movie. Perhaps it would be good if people were able to vote on how hard they think it was to make the movie. The SMB1 run obviously has a 10/10 for perfection... but it's a lot easier to perfect than some other games. Points I think which would define the how hard the movie was to make are: - Length - Amount of lag the game has - Randomness - Amount of planning required - Game physics - How well the movie was played (you can already vote on this seperately) - How entertaining it was (you can vote on this seperately aswell) I think all of these things add up to how hard it is to make a certain movie, but I probably forgot some. (note that although those points might seem like rating the 'hardness' of the game more like rating the 'hardness' of making the movie, it is intended to rate how hard it was to make the movie... which is why 'how well the movie was played' should be taken into account)

- You may vote on your own movies, but please try to be objective. - You can already view your own votes. Click the "rate other movies" link. - You can change your votes. - Listing/sorting movies by their ratings is a development idea not yet implemented. - Rating does not require a certain number of posts.

I suggest that you also put the number of ratings after the number. This will give people the ability to judge whether they think this rating is trustworthy. I also suggest not putting the number in italic. It looks awkward that way since the rest of the sentence isn't.

as trazz pointed out, there is a problem of confidence with the ratings. one vote of 10.0 shouldn't be better than 100 votes of 9.0. could it be possible to add, for each rating, the number of votes please ? that way people could trust them more. //edit damn, Omega was faster than me. forget it then. thank you.

I think rating for movie should not be shown until at least 5 people rate it ^^

moozooh>By the way, now we have a really democratic and reliable mechanism to determine star-worthiness. No. The reason that "best movies (recommended for newcomers)" was changed to "movies recommended for newcomers" was to make this distinction exactly.

Maybe I'm blind, or maybe I'm stupid, but I don't see the "Rate this movie" link anywhere ... I can view the http://tasvideos.org/rating.exe page easily, but I don't see the "Rate this movie" link on any of the movies ... Help please? (Yes, I am logged in on the main page) Here's what I see. Where is that link?

Underneath and to the right from the "discuss this movie" link. The bottommost link in the table cell that has the movie file download choices.
