I've been doing some experimenting, and I've figured out how to jump high with the Glass Ball. Here it is: How to get to cheese place without ball 4: Definitions: jump - bounce on the ground while holding the S key bounce - bounce on the ground while not holding any key All of these tricks are started from minimum bouncing. That is, hold A (or wait) until you're bouncing as little as possible. 1. The 5+1 method. Jump 5 times, then take the 6th jump on a surface (ideally) one block higher. Make sure you don't have any horizontal velocity upon landing or else your ball will break. 2. The 3-2-3-4 method. Jump 3 times, bounce 1 time, jump 2 times, bounce 1 time, jump 3 times, bounce 1 time, jump 4 times. 3. The 4-2-2-2-2-4 method. Jump 4 times, bounce 1, jump 2, bounce 1, jump 2, bounce 1, jump 2, bounce 1, jump 2, bounce 1, jump 4. Use method 1 for the first jump. Remember! No horizontal velocity while landing or you will break! The second jump you can make without any tricks. The third jump, use method 1 again. Next, use method 2. Then for the last jump, use method 3. Note that because the ceiling in that particular place bounces you down a tiny bit, it becomes the 4-2-2-2-2-3 method. (with 3 jumps at the end, not 4). Hopefully this will help those who want to get to the cheese place without ball 4.

Very well explained, that is a little different than my method. I didn't realize that horizontal velocity mattered on landing, so thank you for this knowledge.
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

I must be using a bad route. I can't seem to get much faster than 50 minutes.

You can actually combo the jumps all the way up, mostly never letting go of jump, and never having to stop to set anything up: My nomenclature is slightly different than yours, Blublu. 5+1 means you are going to hit the ceiling between the 5 and the 1 and you need to let go of bounce just when hitting the ceiling. 2+1 means you are going to hit the cieling between the 2 and the 1 and you need to let go of bounce just when hitting the ceiling. Sometimes you can clear the lip of the 5+1 platform so well that it turns into a 4+1, though this is rare, and it's easy to tell when it happens. Even if does, the rest of the jumps stay the same. One more important note: on the very first 5-jump, do not start holding bounce at the peak of your idle bouncing, or you will break on the third 1-jump.

I've worked out what I think the fastest path is: 1. From start, head right and activate the warp point under the tower. 2. Head all the way east and get the pink ball without hitting another warp point. 3. Warp to the tower and switch to the pink ball. 4. Climb the tower and get the iron ball. 5. Switch to the iron ball. Go to the cart ride and get the glass ball. 6. (If only we didn't need to stupid yoga ball to open the portal to the cheese factory ...) Climb to the warp at the top of the mountain, switch to the iron ball, then proceed through the windy chamber and the lava jumps to the next breakaway platform to get the yoga ball. 7. Using the bounce sequence given above, get to the warp above the portal to the cheese factory with the glass ball, then switch to the yoga ball and enter the cheese factory. 8. Get the rubber ball, go to the shadowlands. The best shadowlands path I've found is to use the rubber ball and fall straight down at the beginning, then after you catch the sparkly, bounce straight up on the invisible blocks to the warp point at the top. Switch to iron and float across the air stream to the exit. 9. I think the best path back to the time machine is with the rubber ball, anyways, go to the time machine, get the ascender. 10. Get the weak red ball, go to the underwater lab, and finish the game. I'm not really sure how long that route would be if played perfectly, but it's the best I've got right now.

Don't know if this was already posted, or if everyone already knew... but if you skip the fourth ball, it's best to keep the savepoint under the tower, and press space right after you collect the second ball. Getting the third ball can be done slightly easier and faster, if you: - drop down the spider to the second room by pressing red - press the blue switch right after you dropped down the spider (the blue switch at the first room) - wait 5 seconds - press red again, and proceed If you get to the second room now, you'll notice that the spider already advanced to the third room (again, I don't know if this was already known... so sorry if it was).

That's a much better method. Very nice, thanks. I simply experimented on flat ground and then applied my findings to this situation. Obviously not as good as just working from the situation to begin with. Or something. My methods will work on any flat ground, though, so if there are other places where you need to jump high with glass ball, it might still be useful.

For Boco: Crystal Path is sort of tricky so I made a map and plotted what I think is the best route: Route Old route I figured out ways to do the corner bounce in both the places that I don't use it on this map, but due to the difficulty I think on average it would be slower to try it. The one place I do use it is really easy. Also I found out a super fast way to do that level but I can only pull it off about 10% of the time. Make it to the first check point and switch to glass ball, go back up (skipping half the level basically). It is very hard because you have to nail the corner bounce glitch on an inside corner to get the needed height.

Very possible, but I'd like to show my route and I don't feel like making own map.

Ooops sorry, fixed. I made the map by taking screen shots and pasting them together, it took longer than I thought becuase I was using paintbrush and it got really sluggish as the image got big. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to beat shadow land without the rubber ball and yoga ball. This is in desperate hopes of being able to skip those two balls and save loads of time.

Can you enter shadowland without rubber ball?

Yes, but I haven't been able to do that yet either ^^

Flag, I don't understand your crystal maps. You have a free ball passing through lasers, unless there is some way to disable them that I don't know about. Could you make them less confusing?

Maybe switch here and pick ascentball to fly over the laser is a little faster.

First try on speedrun I got 38:11 I should be able to do it faster but I'll never get 20:44 I think.

Tafat, good idea, looks hard though, I'll look into it. Baxter, nice time for first try, did you practice alot before trying? My [second] try was only 48:00 and I practiced a good amount. Edit: Tafat, it works, but its pretty hard and you just have to switch back to glass ball right afterwards, possibly worth the risk, who knows.

I completed the game once on normal, and once on hard... then I did my first try for a speedrun.

I just found a glitch to go through the ceiling!

It's supposedly possible to get into and complete the tower with ball #1, making ball 2 useless. 1 -> 3 -> 5, then use 5 for everything that you need to jump high.

someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

It would be easiest if I could survive the fall into the room with the laser grid, there are no corners there.

Of course it's possible, see my previous post. However, for a speed run, it's probably faster just to collect the pink ball to make the yoga ball level easier. Remember, the pink ball isn't just used for "jump[ing] high" ... it's pink, too.
