Well, I've been going right in Crateria for a while and I ran into some lava, but I only have 1 energy tank and 7 missiles and no super missiles and no bombs, so I can't seem to do anything. The last thing I did was get the wall jump, but I ran into a dead end that had a pipe at the end after a bunch of spike rooms, so I went back up, past my ship, and jumped off a cliff to get there, and now I can't go back. And I didn't save, but it sure would be convenient to save in that room before the lava if there's no way back or no secret passage somewhere (I've been running into every wall I see, but maybe there's a spot I haven't gotten to). I wish my controllers would work. . . .

Okay, I fail to see how a missile hitting the ground makes a bridge, but okay. And I tried to shoot missiles at that place, but I did it when I was crouched in that area, so it did nothing.

shoot the missile and turn left slightly. you need to have the tile that it hits onscreen or it wont actually do anything. Also, download the newest version of the patch, which makes a couple of things (like that reflector) a little clearer.

Trust me this hack is awesome! It definitely won't continue the way you described it.
Yeah, people kept telling me this about Metroid Prime, too. Also, this hack seems to borrow a lot of ideas from that game, something that everyone else probably thinks is great, but not me so much. If this was really supposed to be a 2D Prime experience, then over 1/2 of the normally viewable area should have been removed to improve framerate. *snicker*

I wish to retract my previous statement >> you shouldn't be allowed to pass the point of no return towards kraid without 3 energy tanks. two energy tanks are at obvious locations you have to pass to reach kraid, the third one is beyond the point of no return (and even marked on the map), so it's no issue here. Sorry for complaining too early.

I never played Prime, I wouldn't know. I got used to the new physics (don't mind them, but wouldn't see them as an improvement either) and I like the Zero Mission-like map-screen. Oh, those torizos.. oh well. You're right about Crateria, those little critters take a ridiculous amount of shots to be killed. They seem to become weaker once you reach Brinstar (don't ask me about the logic behind that), and the running & killing is more fluent later. oh, did I mention I'm stuck again? Don't tell me to IBJ out of the lava, the readme says it's not required to beat the game. The next item has to be somewhere in this room or the last two, and I already searched the last two for a while.. /edit:

I downloaded the zip again, it's still marked as version 1.0, but has a different checksum. Do you know if it's safe to re-use my savestates, or at least the in-game-saves? (still stuck though, either there were no changes in this room, or the room was already in memory for whatever reasons)

Go back the the 'U' shaped room. the answer lies there.

The difference is that Metroid Prime is awesome from the beginning to the end. About this game, I wouldn't really know, I don't like it, so I probably wont finish it.

U-Shaped room.. this was difficult. It was also completely useless. This room has no invisible tubes or passable blocks (I've had some friends search the walls), no power-bombable blocks, and at least the visually interesting spots were completely unimpressed by normal bombs either. I give up.

O rly? Look closer. It's pretty obvious when you lay eyes on it ;) It's blocked off by a few bomb-blocks, which might've been hit by a powerbomb off-screen, which explains the apparent lack of power-bombable blocks. Also, impressive you managed to get back up there. I doubt that was supposed to be possible. Graveworm, I must admit that I was a bit sceptic at first, too, but now that I've progressed somewhat further, I'm really starting to enjoy this hack.

I just played through Super Metroid, again, so I'm kinda satisfied and wont have to play more this evening. Also, I can use my left hand again!

I keep dying before I can get to a save point. The green space pirate kills me because I'm hurt from everything else.

To watch someone else play, maybe. I'm too busy backtracking, checking the map constantly, reading my HUD, and getting lost to have fun watching the pretty visor effects.

Yeah except the pirates are immune to non-missiles? and there are spikes everywhere? and the only way out is a missile door? and there's no enemy spawner to refill on missiles or life anywhere? and there are no save points?

Damn, maybe you should try jumping over it and avoiding the shots through morphing into a ball. Also, a save point wouldn't really help would it?

They're everywhere.

Once you know the map, and maybe like me know all the locations of the 100 items, and also every single speed trick, you're gonna enjoy blasting through the game in just a little over 1 hour in-game time. Watch a speed run and imitate, I don't know about you, but I actually prefer playing games I know, for some reason I hate the whole "exploring part", since I usually end up getting lost.

What do you mean, save points don't help? They let me try again with only 2 minutes' delay instead of 10. I eventually got past it and got to the first save point but it was really hard and stupid. Oh you have 5 missiles only so we'll force you to go through a missile door guarded by missile-only vulerable enemies with no infinitely-respawning enemies nearby to harvest for missiles!

I wouldn't know if anyone would find it hard, since it seems like I'm actually pretty good at Super Metroid. When I play video games I usually kill as few enemies as possible, since it will let me progress faster, maybe not everyone plays games like this. So I never run out of ammo.

Boco, if you played Super Metroid before, you should know that sometimes it is easier (and apparently, much faster) to avoid the enemy than to kill it. There are no rapidly moving enemies that you cannot jump over or run under in that portion of the game.

I'm in need of a little help here. Currently i have: 4 energy tanks 77 missiles 7 super missiles 9 power bombs ice beam, varia suit, morph ball and the bombs. I have a small idea on where I should head next, the u shaped room in eastern norfair. I've managed to climb to the top there, found the hidden passage and managed to get high enough to spot the door, but never high enough to actually jump there. The other way here leads me to a place where I need the grapple beam to progress further, just have a bad feeling that it's located on the top of the u shaped room... I've also encountered a few rooms with walljumping walls on both sides, but i can't seem to get up there, always landing a few pixels below the other side.

Bzzzt! try looking more carefully at the lower corner of the U shaped room.

You need high jump for those.

Have you tried jumping up on one of the walls, or are you still not high enough, then maybe you need the high-jump boots.

And NOW I'm stuck in a place where I need to wall-jump over spikes. And I can get like 3 or maybe 4 walljumps, but the walls are so far apart that I get like 1 or 2 tiles of height each iterationa nd always always mess up and fall on the spikes. I don't like this game.

Just jump up on one wall, I can't alternate walls either. And also, I don't like this game either, maybe you should just stop playing, if you havn't already that is.

Can you actually show me a screenshot of this? I dont recall ever having to walljump above a spike pit with the exception of one place, where you need highjump (to which its rather easy to do after that).
