Yeah, I could do that.. but I don't know even how you can put on that harder difficulty... I only could improve my Normal runs like before. I know it's ok to enter codes that makes the game harder, but perhaps they can shave off couple of minutes from their run. Personally, I think Normal is enough to get a compact and _short_ run. That 2 min Elizabeth fight is just plain silly in a time attack. X)
The harder the game the better it is.

Perhaps I'll try this game again. What was that code used to get Expert difficulty? I don't really know that ^.^'

I did this not to long ago. It's just the first stage on Expert and with the original music ;) http://frenom.areta.org/smv/castlevania.gmv Use the [U][!] version to aviod desyncs. EDIT: Hmm.. I think Ill have to redo some parts in it. It did run well on my laptop. But it didnt run that well on my other comp. It desyncs at the end at the boss.

I've been thinking about why noone has made this game yet. I actually searched and checked the topic just days before the bump. I would do it, but 1) I don't know the game very well, and 2) there's too many games stuffed in my todo-list as it is, and I'm very inefficient. What's the advantage of being the Whip guy? He has a swing move which seems pointless. Spear dude (those are the official names, by the way) has a special jump which can be used to skip some sections.

I hope you're kidding about the official names. =P And it's worth doing a run with each character, as they have slightly different routes and different timesavers in some areas. Also, Phil & Genisto said they aren't doing it because there's some issues with the emulation of this game. *shrug* -Josh

What issues? As far as I know, reflection, rotating/moving large sprites(Stage 2), and "shattered preception"/upside-down. . .ing. . .,(various areas of Block 6) are perfectly emulated in GENS. What other issues are there?

The only thing that maybe feels a little wrong could be the "mirror" room at Daculas Castle. But that is not a issue, its supposed to be that way.

>I hope you're kidding about the official names. =P No, no, I'm completely serious. Whip guy and Spear dude, that's what it says in my instruction manual. :P I hope someone will get around to doing this one, in any case.

Well.. I only have Normal-game attemps of this game... I think Expert run is just too silly to complete. I do know that it has more enemies and harder stuff, but there is couple boss battles that takes 2+ minutes to kill. I could post my normal runs again if someone is intrested... My best time in normal is still 29:45 :T

Well, the manual is wrong then. The whip guy is John Morris, and the spear guy is Eric Lecarde (or Lecarte, I've seen both). The former is supposed to be somehow related to Bram Stoker's Dracula, and the latter is just some bishonen dude they made up. The swing move isn't totally useless, and John also has a jumping upward whip attack which should help in a few places. That's why I think there should be a run for each. -Josh

Bah, it's Spear DUDE, Not Spear GUY. That's the Whip guy's last name. Joking aside, I thought Lecarde was somehow related to Alucard - the names bear some kind of resemblance, at least phonetically.

That, and his Alcarde Spear pops up in Dracula X: Nocturne in the Moonlight. People at The Castlevania Dungeon are under the belief that it's supposed to be spelled "Alucard Spear" in Vampire Killer, not "Alcarde Spear". I'm under the same belief regardless of the fact Alucard can't power the "Alucard Spear" up, according to what I've read.(I'll play through the game that far at some point, I'm sure. . .)

Always knowing what I post before I post Mr. Magic Food.. Yeah, someone should make a run of THE NEW GENERATION as SPEAR DUDE.. This Whip guy is obviously a belmont wannabe.. Even guy in Castlevania Chronicles, who I guess is supposed to be Simon Belmont but with Pink/Red hair is less fake than that guy.. Spear Dude looks like a modern day santa who lost a lot of weight and can still kick some ass. I remember back, don't have a website to back me up, but I recall Bloodlines to not have the blood and New Generation to have the blood.. What an oxymoron.. Anyway, all things aside, find the one with the bloodbath, and not the waterbath, and before starting any new runniez, play the one with more blood. represent!

Japanese and American versions have the blood in it. Just check the ultimate web database for castlevania games "the dungeon" for more details. I ran the japanese version myself.

Okay, well i've been playing this game alot recently and I thought it seems a good game to hone my speedrunning skills on! There are numerous things that i've found by accident that seem to work and i've just completed the first stage all I need now is some input from the rest of you! Anything you think can be done better? Anything you know that'll speed up the run? Anything you think should be changed? I know of a number of spots in this frst stage run alone that can be improved. I break open a light that only has a money bag inside which doesn't help at all (it doesn't slow me down but it's pointless). Some jumps can be better timed, I'm sure I missed a jump slighlty and lost a few frames on a stairway! I also kill enemies which I'm sure can be avoided altogether! Plus I was at first aiming for a no damage run but that seems to be impossible at some points without slowing the run down a few seconds. There is also the problem with the skull wall that takes alot of time to get past - anyone got any ideas how to deal with this quicker? I did a search for this game and couldn't find anything so If someone has done a run please direct me there (likewise if there is another topic for this!) Otherwise some kind words of advice would be welcomed, I'm still learning but I think I'm improving! Castlevania - Bloodlines(Stage 1) Thanks. -J.

You seem to understand how to make a tool-assisted movie. This is good. A while ago the first level of this game was put up for competition, and the winning entry (by Truncated) is here. There are several concepts about the game you don't utilize that could help you improve your time. For more information about the movie above, you can check its respective thread here. Hopefully you continue; you seem to have interest in this game! Also, you should check the forum rules. Your avatar is too big and your signature probably has size problems, too. Anyway, best of luck!
