I have verified that the PAL version uses the same memory layout. I haven't tried the trick in the PAL version though. Edit: Now I have. After more than 1000 tries, I think the PAL version is not any different than NTSC version in this aspect.

It's true we haven't tried every possible permutation of universe's state in that game. However I can't see any relevance with the equipment for that trick. Of the upper row items, crystal is always held so other can't have an active effect. Of the lower row items, laurels or garlics could be used. (Weapons can't, or the sitting will be cancelled otherwise.) Since the purpose is to _hit_ an enemy, I don't think laurels are useful. And of the garlics, they could maybe cause some delay to allow better positioning... hmm. Edit: Garlics don't work. They stop and kill the enemy instead of just slowing it down. As for Castlevania entrance, I have verified that the only thing in the game that checks for those magic items, is the bridge before Castlevania. Once you're past that obstacle, be it on the bridge itself or in the Castlevania ruins, there's nothing that can stop you from reaching Dracula. The bodyparts are not needed. Edit: I just thought of something... the scrolling position. If you hopjump to the left edge, perhaps the scrolling position could be affected from the events in Ondol, and thus affect somehow what happens in the cliff screen? Edit2: Not influencable.

The guy at David Wonns site said that he did this without completing the last two mansions, that should mean the first three is completed. I have tried this another ~1000 times after mansion three is completed but without success.

Anyone starting to think this is another one of those "Accidental nudge of the Nes caused the glitch" events? Mr. Kelly R. Flewin

Ya. But I also hopes it can be done. The floor-trick is possible but it's hard to perform.

Hehe.. Funny. This is almost like scientists. They heard a rumor or they beleive so hard that something is possible, so they won't stop until it is possible! :D

That could be the situation. But two things makes me wonder. 1: Other tricks works fine that David Wonn has listed. The floor trick for example. Someone posted this at IRC: http://theshizz.org/forum/index.php?s=344d04f6d7e722dd8096b5de53369953&act=ST&f=8&t=13751 and we not that it works. 2: The fact that you sometimes is brought back to town disprooves that it's entirely impossible to get somewhere.

It could be. It would depend on how many times Hologramomega actually got it to work.

How these bugs work? The more I think about them, the more odd they are. The only way I believe a sprite collision could affect the destination of a warp would be if the collision changed somehow the register used to store the target location. Could someone explain me why those odd things happen? They look interesting.
No.

Maybe this, http://www.cvrepertoire.net/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t1201.html , could answer you. The pictures doesn't seem correct but after reading the entire topic, it looks really the NES version.

Those two pictures at the top of the screen are from Haunted Castle, the arcade version of Castlevania. How it fits into the Castlevania storyline is kind of a mystery to me, but it does involve Simon Belmont. http://www.classicgaming.com/castlevania/games.html It even shares the same name as the original Castlevania in Japanese. How it applies to Castlevania 2 is a mystery to me.

I think it's just a mistake. He probably putted CV2 pictures then overwrite them accidentally.

Oh. A few weeks ago when BisqBot tried to warp to Castlevania I tried to mail David Wonn, with the proper subject in the mail. I still haven't got any answer. Perhaps he's just a busy man but it would be really nice if someone could confirm that this warp-trick works.

Yeah, he does get fairly busy with stuff. I talk with him on instant messenger sometimes. If I see him on again, I'll ask him about it and let you know what he says.

How about posting on that cvrepertoire forum instead? Even David Wonn doesn't know how that trick work but guys from that forum seem to know. Anyway, I think it may be an hoax.

I've tried the Deborah Warp for a whole day and I just managed to warp back to the town for three times while ended up stuck in the wall for the most of the time. At last, I think it may be an hoax, too. Edit: I haven't tried to do something not in the discription like getting level-up by killing the ghost right after hit by it. Doing something strange may help....
<klmz> it reminds me of that people used to keep quoting adelikat's IRC statements in the old good days <adelikat> no doubt <adelikat> klmz, they still do
