These types of games are hard to make good TASs for. I've been doing 1943 for a while now, and it's really... weird trying to make a superplay movie when you have little to no control over time. For games like these, though, the general rules are: -Never get hit -Never miss a shot -Always use the weakest weapon I actually started one of this game a while back, in the style of the 1943 movie. I'll go try to dig it up.

Why always use the weakest weapon? I did the first level about an hour ago, but I guess it's no good. I miss about five shots, I use the third weopon most of the time, and I get hit purposefully once to go back down a level to a better weopon more suited for the boss.

I wouldn't call using the weakest weapon a general rule. Keeping it as entertaining as possible is the general rule, which may involve using the weakest weapon to make it as hard as possible if you can get away with doing that, but it could be better to mix it up with different weapons, depending on the game. (I'm not familiar with this one at all.) Making mistakes is not good, so if any shots are missed by mistake, that's not good. Missing shots on purpose to shoot to the music or something could be fine (again depending on the game). Same for not getting hit - just don't take any hits that you didn't plan to take.

I ment to take the one hit, I'll try the first level again. Personaly, I found watching it with stronger weopons more entertaining, because that also allows you to beat bosses faster.

I always really liked this game. The different weapons all have different effect areas and graphics, and I feel that part of the entertainment value could come from picking the right weapon for the right situation. If I remember correctly, the third weapon fires little circles that move quickly and cover a wide area just in front of the player. I always found that one somewhat awkward to use, and it might be neat to see it in tool-assisted play... but it would be nice if you didn't take a hit. Getting hit in a shooter game just looks sloppy. Maybe you could selectively avoid the power ups? ie. Stop after two of them? (To those less familiar: you have to take hits to use a weaker weapon; your weapon is essentially based on your "life".)

I overwrote my movie file accidentally. I quit making the movie when I found you can't kill all the enemies on the first temple stage (Some are trapped between walls)

Well, it's certainly impossible while using only the default weapon. And your movie contains lots of surviving enemies and missed shots :/

This is MUCH better than your last movie!! My only real complaint her is that you didn't kill a few of the enemies here.

That was pretty fun to watch! I know a run of this probably wouldn't get published, but that doesn't mean it's still not really fun to watch. I know this run was really hard to make. Good job. My complaints: -You didn't destroy the statue heads! -You didn't destroy the floating blue bubbles! -You missed a few shots -You let some of the pink bats get away -The final boss can definitely be done much faster -After defeating the final boss, you can fly to the correct pixel so that you won’t have to auto-fly there. The problem now is the next dungeon. It’s impossible to shoot down all the enemies with the weakest weapon.

As I remember, there are a lot of enemies that can only get hit by the level 4 gun (the one with spread shot). Maybe you should just go through the game with that? It would also be easier to kill every enemy (too easy? Stick with gun 3, pick up 4 when you need it, then get hit to drop it again to make it harder(bad artificial limitation?). Or else, kill as many enemies as possible with gun 1). I guess another consideration is: what guns can you turbo shoot with? I don't know how well guns 3 and 4 can turbo. And there's no way I'm sitting through the later bosses being shot by the level 1 pistol. I've had to defeat the final boss with that gun. Very long and boring. I don't know whether the gray-X things can be killed (areas 4 and 5). They turn green, which makes me think they're getting weaker. Maybe they just have 255 hitpoints. -------- Legendary Wings, the game where you can be an angel with a gun. Remember: Only 1 more areas are left to be cleare. Hold out for final victory.
That's what she said!
