If I recall correctly, mmarks was found to have committed some abuse of the voting system or something along those lines, on a previous account.

I have here a little preview of my new TAS, Sonic 2 Long Version "Lost Levels". Download I got better the times obtained by mmarks: mmarks -> Me (Felipe) -> Improvement Wood Zone 1 -> 0:25::31 -> 0:22::53 -> 158 frames Wood Zone 2 -> 0:51::08 -> 0:50::35 -> 33 frames Also, I found a glitch in Dust Hill Zone 1. GMV GST It saves me a lot of time (in addition to not take advantage of good weather at the start of the level), but I think that can be used better. A question: As you will see I use the level select trick to play only the hidden levels. ¿At the end of a level, restart the game at the exact moment I open the machine where the animals are locked up?

This glitch is extremely difficult to perform, besides which I began to warm my head.

New WIP to Hidden Palace.
Times:
Wood Zone 1 (0:25::31) -> (0:22::53) -> -158 frames
Wood Zone 2 (0:51::08) -> (0:50::35) -> -33 frames
Dust Hill Zone 1 (1:07::31) -> (0:30::36) -> -2215 frames
Dust Hill Zone 2 (0:37::13) -> (0:36::28) -> -45 frames
Genocide City Zone 1 (0:15::01) -> (0:14::48) -> -13 frames
Genocide City Zone 2 (0:29::25) -> (0:29::21) -> -4 frames
Hidden Palace Zone 1 (0:36::40) -> (0:30::40) -> -360 frames
Hidden Palace Zone 2 (0:37::??) -> (0:35::49)

The precision overall can be improved by using some basic maneuvers the way they where done in the currectly published run. I, rather quickly, played through WZ1 using your route and improved your version by implementing those small adjustments and a little strat change at the end - still improvable I think. Make sure to play as tightly as possible, for example by cutting every corner with the highest possible speed and being only 1 sub-pixel step away from hitting it. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/985470977/Sonic%20The%20Hedgehog%202%20-%20Long%20Version%20WZ1.gmv

oooo BKN. 0:22::53 - > 0:21::37 -> -76 frames and even, i save 8 frames with a little extra movement at end the level. Thank you very much, Aglar. If you can improve other movements, I'll add you as the author of this movie. But you earned the reputation.

Well, my main reason for trying out that level was to help you improve as a TASer. It would help you the best if you restarted the run comparing your progress to the run I showed, thereby learning about the improvements, then apply that knowledge to all the successive levels in order to improve them as well.

Maybe my first double post ever. Anyway, I made some small changes to the first level which should yet be somewhat improvable. Try to get sub-21 for this level. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/271342287/Sonic%20The%20Hedgehog%202%20-%20Long%20Version%20WZ1.gmv

http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_the_Hedgehog_-_The_Lost_Worlds I think I should throw this here. It's a hack purely dedicated to Sonic 2's scrapped levels. I find it of worse quality than Long Version, but more faithful to the Sonic 2 prototypes. It's also goddamned EVIL (badniks and traps EVERYWHERE), that's why I'd like to see it TASed. By the way, I love how they extended Hidden Palace Zone: it's the best version of the level I've ever seen!

Mmmm ok. I will improve this TAS, best I can, thanks to improvements in Wood Zone. I was working in a run (not professional) to have something to do, but now i try to improve it and optimize this run as quickly as possible.

True, it's quite irritating so many enemies and traps everywhere, plus the multiple jumps all the time to avoid them.

I think I could implement improvements in this version 1.8.1 http://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_2_Long_Version I think it would be a little faster and, I was try to see the TAS in this version and have desync in Genocide City (due to faster began of the level). No have desync in your improvement of Wood Zone, Aglar.

I have a improved in WZ2 (0:50::35) -> (0:50::11) -24 frames However, i think that can improve it more. I'm not sure if i need wait a bit to Tails so that I remove an enemy who cuts me off.

Hope you know that WZ1 can be improved by jumping up the platform at frame 1286 in the same way as it's done for the platform at frame 2186.

Thanks for that information, Aglar. I'm looking around to improve the movie as much as possible, plus I'm also working with the S2&K "Ringless" (which I voluntarily wanted to do). i'll go looking at every area all the improvements that can find, and ThatGugaWhoPlay told me that in about 4 months try to have it ready, I still have much time. But school has me full of work :c

I put all my effort but only able to improve a frame in WZ1. That's enough for me, it was very hard, now I'm WZ2.

Well, if you the jump up the platform I mentioned exactly like with the similar one later, then match my time all the way to the end - you'll end up with saving 11 more frames. There's no timed object in the way so it's definitely possible. Please ask if you need some technical advices.

Any technical advice would be immediately accepted. However, I think we need more of that information here http://tasvideos.org/GameResources/Genesis/SonicTheHedgehog.html I know that we know much more than Sonic 2 of what is written there and I would like that in that place will be updated with more information.

That page already describes the physics very well and detailed. Then you "just" need to apply this knowledge to the fullest everywhere in the game. By offering you technical advice I meant that if you have questions regarding how to optimize a given situation or if you're wonding why you're losing time on something compared to my run, I can answer that.
