Hey drunken posting here. I dont think it would save time because it is all the way at the bottom left and you have to bomb it. Where as other don't take much time and randomization can be taken advantage off. Also i just realise this but it will actually give you red boomerang instead of 300. Correct me if I am wrong but there is no way to get 600 rupees in this place unless you have the red boomeraqng already???
g,o,p,i=1e4,a[10001];main(x){for(;p?g=g/x*p+a[p]*i+2*!o: 53^(printf("%.4d",o+g/i),p=i,o=g%i);a[p--]=g%x)x=p*2-1;}

Okay. In the light world, in the bottom left corner of the village, there's a shop with some chickens outside. In the Dark World version of this place, you bomb the front side of it, go in, and open the chest for 300 rupees. I tried it just now in a run, it gave me 300 rupees. Not a red boomerang. As a matter of fact, you don't even need the blue boomerang to do this. >_> Anyways, just a heads up.

Lucid: Just to clear up ambiguity in your post, when you got the chest did you have the blue boomerang, the red boomerang or no boomerang? I know 300 is there when you have the red boomerang but I've never tried the other combinations.
This signature is much better than its previous version.

Lucid: You are both right and wrong. With regards to the chest in the bottom left of the dark world town. In the room where you bomb. If you have no boomerang it gives you the red boomerang. If you have the red or blue boomerang it gives you 300 rupees. Of these things I am sure, as I just tested them. Now how you are right, in a time attack I think blue boomerang would either save some time or cost so little that if this 300 chest was viable we would get the blue boomerang. However I don't think this chest is fast enough to get. It is out of the way and you would have to bomb it and then go in and walk down some stairs. I shall time it later.

Deviance - how did you record your run? For the time it took you to "press start" and "exit" Link's house, I was 3 seconds slower just on that part... You took 30 seconds, I took 32.xx. I believe your video is running faster than the actual SNES plays. Ok, I am positive. This video you put up is running faster than a normal run. Some of your stuff wasn't even as good as mine in terms of movements, yet you got faster on the early segments than a recent "best" run I did... Edit 2: Dude you used PAL. No wonder.

It doesn't look like a pissed off post to me. I did this run some 6 months ago so I'm a little sketchy on the details, but I'll try my best. The rom was in fact NTSC, not PAL. I used Camtasia studio to record this run which was very difficult to do and took me a couple hours of messing with its framerate, recording setting etc. to finally get it to record something smoothly without lagging; maybe that had something to do with it. I couldn't use zmv files because they kept breaking after 5 minutes. On the whole though, I don't recall the game running noticeably faster while I was playing it through on zsnes.

I don't doubt that your most recent run is better, in fact, it should be. I think I remember flagitious mentioning an improvement to the Light World route so my run is already outdated. I'm not sure what you mean by my movements being not as good as yours, perhaps you've found faster mini-routes through certain areas. What is your best time now by the way?

The FPS on your video was 25.XX. Mine, as well as standard North American videos for ALttP, are 29.97. This also has me suspicious about something else.

I couldn't get camtasia to record smoothly at 30 fps, so I believe I had it record at 25 fps.

I can get camtasia to run at near 60 fps on my pc. i could always record it for yu if you wanted me to. I'm probably being a bit stupid but where is the file you're mentioning?

It was recorded live so there's no zmv file to capture from. The actual Avi of my Light World run is currently unavailable for download. I'll post it up again if there's a demand for it.

I think TSA was working on a legit speedrun, iirc. Not a superplay.

This game really, really needs a timeattack. Is there no one at all who feels knowledgeable enough to make a try?

there was one in the works, but constant dysync problems prevented it from being completed.

Legit run will be up by Dec 17th, 2004. No exceptions (at least on my end). So give it 2 weeks. Sorry for making everyone wait, but it will be worth it.

How can you be working on the run for so long.. Is there a way to save, and like continue again the next day, even with recording ?? havent been into this for long, so sorry for not knowing.. I do know about the savestates and rerecording. Tried it myself, but when i turned off the emulator i couldnt continue the next day... If you know what i mean..

I don't think TSA uses save states at all.
