From the Rules page: "As exceptions, we allow these patches to be used: * Super Mario Bros 2j - 24 stars: This patch sets the number of game completions to 24 in Super Mario Bros 2j. It allows accessing the hidden worlds without having to complete the game 8 times. This patch may only be used on the Famicom Disk System version of Super Mario Bros 2j. "

A version of smb2j hacked to not have that silly requirement is accepted, but that is still a hack so I'm not really sure which one would be preferred.

Yes, but it's a hack to aid in showing off how quickly the game can be completed. It's 100% beneficial for TASing, in my opinion.

The original NES version lets you save? BTW hacked smb2j or all stars version, makes no diff to me.

It's for the Disk System, isn't it? I remember a screen that let you save if you got a game over.

Damn then why did everyone complain that it is too hard, thus making it not released originally in the US?

Maybe it just wasn't creative enough.

It's hard without saving, and the disk system wasn't released overseas. (I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.) But I think the major factor was that it simply wasn't a very good or inventive game.

Lol... more people are talking on this than the creater. Thanks for telling me those glitches tho. Just a question, does anyone know if I should do it with mario or Luigi?

Do it with mario first. Luigi can be for the sequel.

Mario is probably faster, judging from the two warp runs. Which I assume you have watched and studied if you plan to do this game.

Did you check to see if it is as fast as the published version in the levels that are the same?

Since it's being done on SMAS, timings may be slightly different. Hopefully they're still directly comparable, as you could benchmark yourself on the existing SMB2j runs for FDS, but it may not be. I have no idea myself, I haven't researched it in the least, but it seems like a legitimate possibility.

oh yeah sorry, I asked for a rom, my bad I'l find it [edit 1] lol I searched everywhere and finally found it, only to discover I had it anyway but didn't see it because I was looking through my emulator. [edit 2] ok I watched sum of it. I started over. Mine was definitly faster than a speedrunner on a console, but I need to focus less on entertainment/glitches and more on overall speed. Got the first level done. [edit 3] I'm on world 3 now! [edit 4] I'm on level 6-2!
