This run is supposed to be fast and I really hope that you guys find it enjoying anyways!
Hello Bisqwit and all you others on this site! This is my latest submission for you: a Rockin' Kats run which is faster then the previous run. My run is 21:43 minutes long and it's completed with 78208 frames.
It is 1 minute and 56 seconds faster than Teowind's run.
My aim is to be fast as possible and to do stuff that you don't expect.
For an example, I use a glitch on the first level on the train. Normally you are supposed to wait for the train to leave before you can start to play again, but I don't stop, thanks to my glitch that I use at the end of the train!
I play with the punchgun only, meaning no special weapons.
When I start to the game I play with channel 4 first then I go backwards (It's almost backwards because you can't play channel 5 until the other channels are completed. Why I play this way is for two reasons:
  1. I think it's better to begin with the hardest level first, (which is channel4) then go backwards
  2. Because it's fun! I wanted to play a different style than the previous player.
Hope you enjoy it! If not, please say to me what's wrong and I'll try to fix the problems. =)
Willy, the Rockin' Kat, (our hero!) and his girl, Jill, are the cutest couple to jazz around New York in years! Unfortunately, while Willy was doing a solo, the local crime boss, Mugsy, caught a peep at Jill and knew he had to have her! In his underhand way, he sent his loyal pack of thugs to kidnap poor Jill. It was cat-burglary, all right. By the time Willy finds out, his girl has been hidden away deep in the city. The fur starts to fly when he takes on the crime world to save her. Willy must find his way though the hot streets, a not-so-funny amusement park, and the wild west (among other dangerous adventures!) with only his punch gun at his side. You'd better go along to help out!

It is almost two minutes faster than Teowind's Rockin' Cats movie. The movie entry mentions, that "[Teowind] made some choices which trade speed for entertainment. This is not the fastest possible run in this game, and is not meant to be." I believe this submission is going to be very difficult to judge.

Even though Teowind mentioned that, I think Diman's 2 minute of improvement should be a much stronger aspect.

This is timeattack is two minutes faster and very entertaining. Two minutes faster i think is would be a yes! If this would be rejected the whole competion thing will be totaly wrong... it would only be a matter of taste. I know entertainment is important but time is better!

"I think it's better to begin with the hardest level first (which is channel4) then go backwards." was changed to "than go backwards." Starting with channel 4 is going backwards, I think it just needs a comma after "hardest level first". Cool little revision difference page though :)

You cannot start with "hardest" channel. If you start with channel 4 and end with channel 1, channel 1 has more enemies than channel 4.

Huh... So the level setups depend on your order? Then maybe there actually is a "fastest" order to find.

Diman, I meant that you had it spelled right, and Bisqwit wronged it. Even after the then/than is one of his pet peeves :-P I am reading that sentence as meaning: "It's better to begin with the hardest level first, and then go backwards." Bisqwit is reading it as: "It's better to begin with the hardest level first than to go backwards." I'm not sure which way you meant, but I assumed the first way because you didn't have that "to" in there, but neither was the "and". Thus, I'm removing myself from the discussion! Didn't mean to anger any editors! Run away! *poof*

Not to imply anything, but somehow the value of posts like that decreases in my eye when both the praised and the praiser post from the same IP address.

Nice! I think this looked really good, and even though Teowinds movie focuses more on being entertaining, I think this movie was very entertaining too. You used the fist very efficiently, and though I think it could be used a little better, it was generally well used. Oh, and I can just point out that I really liked the part on the airplane, well done there. The place where you ride a skateboard next to a train was well done too, I liked how you grabbed the train with the fist and gained speed from the train. A small complaint is that I think you bounce around a little too much when riding something, like the wagon and the skateboard. Bouncing up and down using the fist looked cool in the beginning, but became somewhat annoying after a while. Anyway, I think this was a fast paced, entertaining movie, I'm voting YES.

I already decided to publish this movie, but I think it can be further improved. It looks like some maneuvers with the ... item, cause horizontal and/or vertical acceleration, and that they aren't fully utilized in the optimal way. I guess this isn't the last submission of this game that we'll see.

This movie has been published. The posts before this message apply to the submission, and posts after this message apply to the published movie. ---- [432] NES Rockin' Kats by Diman in 21:43.47

I just watched it, and although I've never played or heard of the game until now, it seems that the fist is used better in some areas than others. It seemed to get better as the run went on, but it looked like there were parts that could be done better. Again, I don't know, as I haven't played it, but that's what I thought watching it.

This is maybe the fastest order (4, 3, 2, 1). Because if you play channel 4 last, it has nasty purple bulldogs which make the game lag, like seen in Teowind's movie.

Yeah, it was pretty good, nice work and all. But I'd have liked to see the so-called 'channel x' done as well. I cound never pass that level :|

Oh? Channel x? How can you play that? I have completed the game several times but never seen channel x.

If I remember correctly, you just press a button after the credits have ended and it starts. It's been a while since I've played though.

Diman, I think you can put the URL to the text file without linking. Copying and pasting the URL into the address bar works. Edit: http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/file/rockin_kats.txt

To acess it you should wait at the staffroll - after several seconds of looking on ATLUS logo that bulldog boss appears and you are welcome to play difficult level without any items collected. Note that if you press any button during staffroll you won't acess this channel, so just wait patiently. Speaking about this submission... it has too many flaws everywhere/ It's possible to run the game in less than 20 minutes and without taking damage. If author doesn't intend to release an improvement, I'll think about making it myself. This game has great potential actually.

Yeah, this has been discussed often. This game does have awesome potential, but it is very tedious to do a TAS on. Good luck if you decide to do it!
