Wow, that X4 Zero run on 47:31 was really impressive. Absolutely great job!

Watched your Mega Man Zero run last night, and really enjoyed it. You managed to pulled off something pretty ridiculous again, really nice work.

Thanks for the comments guys. I am currently working on Revenge of Shinobi (haven't played in a few weeks though) and a Mega Man Zero 2 S-rank run. If you want to see some previews of the MMZ2 S-rank run you can look at my filespace. All the Zero 2 replays have the prefix MMZ2, so it shouldn't be tough to find them. The other stuff is either outdated MMZ1 S-rank practice runs or MMX3 demonstrations. BTW, you need the official version of VBA 1.72, not shaneduddy's. I have done practice runs in all but five stages. I know these aren't perfect, and any comments and criticisms are welcome. A few things off the top of my head: I have a lot of trouble with the icy floors in Poler Kamrous's stage. Any advice on how to deal with icy floors would be appreciated. I know you don't need the grappling hook for the first pit in Hyleg Ourobuckle's stage, I merely forgot. I got really lucky when fighting Fefnir (non V2) and he only used his A/S rank attack once. I doubt I can consistently force him to only use it once. I heard there is a way to use the grappling hook to go through floors. Is this true? I took a lot of hits during my run of the Neo Arcadia wind temple. I need to find a better route/strategy through the final area. I also need to test whether getting the active form is worth it or not. Currently I'm using the rise form. Hopefully people don't mind that I hijacked this topic so I can shamelessly advertise myself :P.

Jump jump jump jump jump The Fefnir (non-v2) fight you can only get hit so few times. The most least points that I've gotten for an S-Rank was 91 pts. I dont use forms whenever I do S-Rank runs for fun. Normal form works best for me imo. Up + Sabre = Fantastic Dash + Sabre = Best speeding *through* enemies.

After spending a month and a half recording it, Zero 2 is up! It contains more mistakes than my Zero 1 run, but the game is harder and I pulled off some difficult tricks. Hope you all like it.

Not quite true. Since it's slower than a normal dash. Dash-jumping while slashing would be the best way to go. If the enemy is too powerful to be destroyed by that, use a buster shot or a charged saber beforehand.

Mike I think I've found a tiny discovery for this game. At about 44:40 when you are fighting that ghoul boss, you should let him hit you or similar in order to hit him 2 times every time he appears + you will kill him obviously faster this way :) instead of doing one hit as he then vanishes.

-I could use a slightly better path in the 2nd area of Frost Mammoth's stage, I should just dodge past some of the ice birds because they don't freeze the screen if you escape them quickly enough.

I did a TAS of the intro stage, Split Mushroom, and Magma Dragoon: YouTube videos: Intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8srVrQJ2VFk Split Mushroom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6pGonRtqGQ Magma Dragoon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkCqAS20XOY Movie file: http://files.filefront.com/movie+dragoondone2txt/;11716025;/fileinfo.html ROM: Mega Man X4.iso Version: PCSX rerecording v0000006. Sound: Do not use P.E.Op.S. v1.9 unless you have to use it to record sound. It causes desync just after Split Mushroom Stage 1 unless you turbo through the bug miniboss. Use the newest P.E.Op.S. v1.9 modification from this site. Ones that work are Pete's MIDAS v1.7 and No Sound 0.4. You can use turbo, but do not pause or frame advance, because it may cause desync. - I have to frequently check for desyncs (about every 10 seconds of gameplay) while making the movie. Desyncs occur around 30% of the time. There is no problem with playback desync, except mentioned above. - Between stages, I did not optimize stuff. - Still some improvements possible. There are places where I take damage from an enemy where it is faster to go around or kill. - There are two types of (player) damage recovery. One is short, the other is long. Long is bad. - Zero's midair slash slows down the game when it hits. Don't be surprised if I avoid killing enemies I could have killed. - My first intentional luck manipulation was at Magma Dragoon where I luck-manipulate Magma Dragoon into using the flamethrower attack so I can SDC 80% of his health bar without stopping. - The game hates me whenever I use SDC, always desyncing what I input there. I have to guess frequently. This is most evident against the bug miniboss. A glitch that I found in Split Mushroom's stage while TASing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZ6zW8et8Mc

(I've never played this game before, sorry. The movie is looking great, though. :P) I'm really sorry about the desyncs. I already have some fixes for the most obvious ones for the next version of PCSX... Now, could you see if this modified version of P.E.Op.S. syncs for you with your movie?: spuPeopsDSound.7z (extract to your "plugin" folder).
You're just fucking stupid, everyone hates you, sorry to tell you the truth. no one likes you, you're someone pretentious and TASes only to be on speed game, but don't have any hope, you won't get there.

Thanks, mz. It syncs now with P.E.Op.S. Also, thanks for setting "Change XA speed" off by default. When on, it would produce some badly overpeaked sound while turboing.

Out of interest I tried out playing as X in Rockman X4 (as opposed to Megaman X4, as X sounds like a sissy little girl in the US version, while he doesn't in the JP version). A few things I noticed were as such: 1) X can only fire his buster once every 6 frames after the initial shot, regardless of being right next to an enemy or not. 2) You can't jump on vertical spikes while invulnerable to damage (this ruins the chance of doing storm owl first for a plasma/4 shot upgrade). 3) A level 1 charged shot seems to be equivilant to 1.5 normal shots, while a level 2 charged shot is seemingly equivilant to 4. the level 1 shot however takes far longer to charge than it does to fire multiple normal shots, but it does of course have its uses. I had a similar issue to FractalFusion when I tried recording a run initially (as Zero), with it desyncing, but I'll try again later. On the note of Zero, something to consider if a new movie format is released and you had to redo the movie would be using the black Zero code, purely for a different visual appearance. Otherwise, some really nice work there Fractal :)

looked pretty good. however, doing Mushroom first kinda confuses me. it didn't seem like Kuuenbu/Kuuenzan helped all that much in Dragoon's stage. then again, Ryuenjin is really only used on Mushroom's miniboss, and the method you used might have been better. will the run will be 0% or any%? or maybe i should ask if you'll be getting any Heart Tanks for some additional health. 4 of them are directly on the path.

I'll grab them first and ask questions later. :) This run (at least now) is any%. By the way, it is faster to get rank S on all of the Cyber Peacock rooms than to wait and get rank A, if anyone was wondering.

well, of course. if you really wanted to skip the rewards, you could just jump over them.

That's an interesting choice with the route so far, but it seemed to work out nicely. I was wondering how fast you could repeat the Ryuenjin move on the miniboss, though, since you can start damaging it right away and the damage is greater so it's hard to say if you can take back that time in Magma Dragoon's and Frost Walrus' levels. You can skip the autoscroll after Mushroom's miniboss, but I don't know if that would actually save time as you need to scroll the screen back just a little bit to do that. Have you tested it, FractalFusion?

Cyber Peacock done: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LKQU5qax9o I tried to record the sound but I messed up and I don't want to try again (yet), so this video has no sound. - I think it is faster to invert the cyber-ball shaft but I like it this way. - I manipulate Cyber Peacock to do the arrow shot so that I can slash him with Z-Saber (faster than using Ryuenjin all the time). I have to wait before hitting him or else he will disappear like all the others.

Hmm, didn't think about that. Should have thought about it since a similar thing happens in Mega Man Xtreme (GBC).

Really? Where was that? I was thinking of doing some planning on the Mega Man Xtreme topics.

amazing Peacock fight. with proper timing, the last ball can land on the very edge and still remove the purple barrier. if that would help any.
