sword does less damage than arrow, if you don't use jumpslash and HISSing over to him costs time, too, so arrows are definately the quickest way to kill goht but your backflip thing seems to be possible :/ I'll test that soon

Well, presumably if you could use the sword to get to him, you'd be able to do the slide at the start of the fight instead of the end. You have to reach him in any case to enter the teleport thingy after the fight.

The only thing that could work is shooting an arrow while HISSing. Though I'm not entirely sure if shooting arrows works while doing so...

How much damage does ISG do? In OoT it does the same as a power crouch stab, but since MM doesn't have it, wut damage would it have? If its better than arrows, ISG + HISSing might be an awsomer alternative to the arrows

I don't recommend HISSing at parties though, people will think you're a snake.

ISG has the power of a normal sword slash. arrows have the power of a jumpslash arrows are a lot quicker than ISG HISS for goht! ZFG had 2 nice theorys for the goht fight yesterday, which I'll test soon ;)

because that trick is the biggest bitch ever to me I've just recorded a way, that uses a bombchu to kill goht, so I had more time to pull off the superslide there are enough frames to activate a superslide after shooting an arrow, but link is still holding the bow in his hand, so I can't activate a superslide any idea to get the bow away really quickly?

How about shooting some arrows, then launch a chu, then some more arrows, and time it so that the chu is the last hit and that you have exactly enough time to perform a slide? i have no knowledge about any of the zelda mechanisms but maybe it's possible to take damage (manip a hit from goth to you) to get the bow away faster? sorry if these are completely silly ideas :P

I don't think you can put the bow away any faster than with A. (that is extremely fast if you do it right after shooting) I think the best course of action would be to stop shooting for a moment, lay a bomb down, do the final shots and than HISS of that bomb.

cutscence cancels HISS, you have to use SS using A is still to slow. we have about 6 frames to get the bow away ;) here's the bombchu method: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqWoNFLC4JI

Even when you set the bomb before hand? I sadly don't know how to count frames but when you press A directly after a shot the bow is away pretty much instantly. I like the idea with the chu it's just that the fight seems pretty slow this way...

Yeah, I fail to see why so much time is being wasted setting up a slower fight; what's wrong with supersliding to the mask after Goht dies?

the problem is, that link is holding the bow in his hand, so when you grab the bomb, he puts the bow away first, so no SS

1. my fight just showed the idea I played it non-TAS 2. it is about 1-2 seconds faster to use a SS into the cutscence ;)

did you try with shooting an arrow while backflipping? in a tas it should be quite easy to realese your bow at the right time

But we waste a bombchu that could save us 5 seconds at the bridges before wizrobe... SL, maybe you could get a SS to work in the time the arrow flies? I mean it't you TAS. ;) We should really know it when we enter Snowhead to know how much explosives we need where...

it doesn't change our bomb route even if we use the bombchu for the boss battle both swordless and I TASed this battle and we were both not able to do it with an arrow as the last hit it's not the time, it's the bow, that makes this trick impossible ;)

So I guess the time doesn't suffice to get the sword out... But where do we have the extra Chu from all of a sudden?

we definately have to get this theory done: in the fairy fountains, there's a corner between the wall and the little ledge thing. we can get out of bounds there with superslide and recoil flip, but not with mega flip + ISG, so no way to get to the other fountain with this OoB at the moment. I've tryed a lot of time already, but I wasn't able to do it. Here's the m64 of my 2 of my attemps: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=f03195f3b38a3353bda4076e811714c8fbe6be2820596f6fce018c8114394287 the camera angle should be perfect, the position is just wrong. good luck with it ;)

So, I finally got around to making a table of speed values for most forms of movement in the game. http://zeldaspeedrun.dreamhosters.com/mm/general/speeds.php Also, over long distances, backwalking>sidehopping.

Wow some of these things are really unexpected. I always thought it was the consensus in recent years that sidehopping is faster than backwalking. Guess that's not entirely true. And Zora swimming is not faster than backwalking? really? it seems so fast... Don't you gain speed when backwalking/sidehopping with the bunny ears? And backwalking is as fast as using them? Wow... In general I don't like this site very much, since only a hand full of people can contribute hence it takes forever to get some info on it (I would have liked a wiki where you can only post when you are registered better) but that is some usefull information!

Darn it all, this is all too hard to follow through, how do we exactly know when to use either backwalking or sidehopping? And about the zora swimming thing, it's not like that is going to be changed, because of the fact that you cannot backwalk in water.
