Game of the Bear is an Atari 2600 platformer homebrew, another VHZC game.
Game can be found here:
https://vhzc.itch.io/game-of-the-bear

Game Objectives

  • Emulator used: BizHawk 2.9.1
  • Aims for fastest time
  • Uses intentional deaths

Glitches

Edge Clip

Jumping into the edges of platforms its possible to clip into it, when clipped into collision.
When inside collision, the game pushes youu upwards automatically, tho you can ascend faster if you continually jump.

Early Teleporter

Its possible to warp into the teleporter room early by entering that room in a specific way.

nymx: Claiming for judging.
nymx: This TAS is very well done. The physics are not quite the same as the other VHZC games I've touched, so I went back and made sure that it was the same maker. It was not. Xanthiom was made by MathanGames. Peril was the VHZC game that I did earlier last year with MrTASer. In Peril...I had to continuously jump, in order to perform that clip. Here, you can just keep floating up without doing anything; however, you can speed up the process by adding additional jump to speed it up.
So, I've checked a few spots and I don't see anything standing out. Congratulations on this run.
Accepting.

despoa: Processing...

Two questions: 1. Are you not allowed to carry more than one key at a time? (Would save quite a bit of backtracking if you could!) 2. There's no way to clip through the platform to the left of the locks and skip having to get the keys altogether?

You can only carry one key at a time. You can't skip the keys, you can clip up after the locks, but the screen transition isn't there.

I haven't looked into how these games are made, but apparently there is a common engine being used here. I actually discovered that clipping when I did Xanthiom. I see that it is being used fully here. As for the screen transition...yeah, I completely get that. You can get lost into an area that doesn't exist and not be able to return. Also, if you didn't know...I love these VHZC Atari games. I was excited to see this and I had to claim it.
I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence. ---- SOYZA: Are you playing a game? NYMX: I'm not playing a game, I'm TASing. SOYZA: Oh...so its not a game...Its for real? ---- Anybody got a Quantum computer I can borrow for 20 minutes? Nevermind...eien's 64 core machine will do. :) ---- BOTing will be the end of all games. --NYMX
