About the Game:
Super Gran: The Adventure is a 1985 text adventure game released for several home computers. based on the 1985 action comedy Super Gran. You play as Super Gran herself, who has to return several valuables to a museum.
About the TAS:
This TAS aims for fastest completion, which means winning the game as fast as possible.
This is my first ZX Spectrum TAS, with the game being recommended by my dad.
Gameplay/Tech:
Most of this TAS consists of loading the game. The actual game starts at 4:47 in the encode.
The game is pretty easy to optimise. All we have to do is type words as fast as the ZX Spectrum allows us, with a hint of luck manipulation here and there, as well as a couple of tricks:
The first trick is that when typing letters that are 5 letters or longer, we can shorten them to just 4 letters. For example, “Porridge” becomes “Porr”. The game only needs 4 letters to identify a word.
The second trick is that when typing a direction, we can put the initial of that direction. For example, “South” becomes “S”. The one exception to this is when Super Gran’s swimming in the lake. There we have to type the full words “Down” and “Up”.
Due to this game being a text adventure where you can type really quickly, we can complete our quest in only about 2 minutes of gameplay time. Input ends on frame 20533 when we press “e” after typing “DROP SCUL”.

nymx: Well...I remember games like this on the Commodore, only they were strictly "Text" only. Good times...it was like readying a good book, but having control over the game as you pleased.
It syncs and honestly, there is nothing I can do to call out optimization issues...especially since I can't find any human runs to compare. Wouldn't matter...nobody can type this fast, so it works for me.
