Cancelled due to complicated RNG.
NOTE: This TAS was originally finished on 27 September 2023.
About the Game(s):
“Action 52” is an unlicensed game made for the NES and Sega Genesis, featuring - you guessed it - 52 different video games. The NES version was published in 1991, whereas the Genesis version was published in 1993. Both versions were published by Active Enterprises.
“Paratrooper” is game 45/52 in the Sega Genesis version of Action 52. You play as a paratrooper, who has to collect electric boxes while avoiding… knights? Very random concept but okay.
About the TAS:
This TAS aims for Any%, which means completing all 9 levels.
Menuing:
After waiting through a short pre-menu screen, skipping the Action 52 cutscene and going through the menu to select “45. PARATROOPER” we can start the game on frame 526.
Gameplay/Tech:
- All 9 levels have exactly the same concept, as explained in the “About the Game(s)” section.
- The paratrooper can move in 8 directions. He moves much faster horizontally than vertically.
- We have to wait twice over the whole TAS for a knight to be killed. This loses a total of 5 frames.
- To optimally move around a corner, we press both directions for 1 frame and then transfer to the other direction by the next frame.
- Input ends on frame 8422 when we collect the final electric box on level 9.
And That’s It!
