Super Smash TV would make an incredible run. But it's got to be hard as hell to do (especially 2-player), and this is more of a "cult classic" game than a classic. But hey, that works, right?

The Shining Force 1 topic is here, I am not involved, but interested nontheless, even if it does turn out to be 4+ hours. I keep toying with the idea of a Shadowrun run. The problems are, you want/need lots of money and exp, and the luck is a ***** to manipulate (it's not done on the fly like most games). Early attempts at Castlevania: Bloodlines were plagued with desyncs. I don't know if that's still the case, but everyone who previously worked on it quit a long time ago. Ecco topic is here. The WIP is awesome, and the game ought to be completed.

I don't think Super Smash TV can be that hard to make. Imo, Battletoads is an harder game and today, we now have 4 different run of that game. Btw, Total Carnage can be interesting.

Just that there are so many buttons to press at once, having an X and Y button as well, and with the way the controls for that game are set up. However I've never done a 2-player run (or 1-player for that matter) and so Battletoads looks pretty tough to do as well. I hope you're right! Then hopefully a run will surface eventually.

Many of the famous games for the Mega Drive was sports (read hockey) games. Those don't fit very well for speedrunning though. Ice Hockey for the NES could be fun maybe, just because it's such a hilarious game from a comedy standpoint. Then there was Road Rash and Cool Spot who I remember being sort of popular. But I'm not so sure any of those would be entertaining.

X-men IC note: it can be vastly improved because i remember making it at 25%. X-men 1 CANNOT be completed without a major rewrite to Gens (so Jyzero told me). the game has a sequence at the end of Mojo's Realm where you need to reset to continue. i was working on this while taking a break from Xmen 2 for a bit and found that though i resetted (every possible type of reset mind you) i was still stuck at the end of Mojo's. so thats out entirely. i could upload what i have when i find it once again (no idea where i put it) and you can see if its worth having someone rewrite it just for that game. its got some neat quirks as well (Nightcrawler used all the time). oh, and id like to see Ecco completed as well (though i know thats asking for a lot considering i've attempted it and failed miserably). sorry the EwJ desyncs for you atro city.

I dont like the result of my semi completed ecco run, but even so i dont think it can look much better. Yes bumping into rock turns is needed. I stopped simply because the overall quality wasnt paying off the incredible amount of effort required to record it.

EVO is an incredibly strange game that can either be done in 2 minutes or would take multiple hours, depending on exactly how optimized you can get transformations. I messed around with the game a few weeks ago out of boredom. It is, of course, possible to manipulate for flashing meat on every enemy you come across. But the process is so horribly BORING... Jaws would need to be the first upgrade, and you'd want the strongest ones possible in most cases. After that, anything to make you faster is all that you'd need to do. Taking damage in EVO definitely doesn't help in ANY way. You get hit, you sit there going :O for a few seconds, frozen. Horns are probably useless, too. I'm sure NOT getting a flying creature later on would be best. Running = Faster. Since I've never beaten the game fully... or if I have, I've forgotten... I'm not sure whether Human or Animal is better for the final boss of the game... Theoretically, it seems like it could definitely be beaten in around an hour or so. Depending on how much effort you want to put in. Friggin' hideous to sit and load, bite, see meat, [continue/reload] over and over hundreds of times. On a game as slow as EVO, it's even worse. Whoever takes up the project (if anyone) definitely has my support AND my sympathy.

For the EVO discussion: it really doesn't seem like it would be too hard to just manipulate golden meat from every enemy, buy either the fastest legs/fins or jaws, and then go straight for the boss of the time period. Most bosses can be easily defeated using any set up, so you would have to decide whether it is better to opt to speed through the level as quickly as possible, or if it is better to just rape the important enemies as quickly as possible. It all comes down to planning out how you will use EVO points efficiently. Also, keep in mind that some upgrades won't make up for the time it takes to change shape.

Wouldn't the most effective fight plan be to ultra-sweep someone to death? Yeah, that is pretty redundant. That, or boxing them into submission in a corner, or something. Most fighting games can't make entertaining movies, IMO, because there will always be one definitely optimal attack pattern that will finish fights as quickly as possible. As great as the play arounds for games like SSF2 are, people will always have the fact that it could be faster in the back of their mind. Then again, you will also get the same thing with most RPGs. The difference, though, is that a fighting game is a lot of 15-30 second fights that total about 20 minutes of gameplay, whereas an RPG has too many ifs/ands/buts over a huge 60 minute+ time frame. I don't know. I'm not trying to discourage people from making movies for fighting games, but the line between entertainment and speed for those games is a bit too wide. edit: stupid quote html. my apologies, #nesvideos
