Cerulean Gym (Misty) lets you use cut. Experience underflow isn't possible on GBA, to my knowledge, since it's able to handle larger numbers than Game Boy was.

That would simply mean that the underflow would be more severe. Which in either case would mean a lvl100 pokemon.

It's able to, but doesn't, in the case of R/B/Y. I've done the bug on my red version in my GBA before. However, if you tried it in Firered or w/e, yes, you'd be fucked.

Easy, you skip Snorlax and thus, skip Rock Tunnel. Here's how it's done: Defeat the Gamber with the Magnemite/Voltorb, go through the house with the guard and set foot on the new route for at least 3 steps. Walk back and activate the Mew glitch on the Youngster. Defeat the Bug Catcher with Butterfree, then head back to route 16. Run from Chansey and go to the route where Snorlax was. Voila, it's gone. Exp underflow is done by getting a Pokemon down to level 1 during the glitch (Growl the Special stat Poke six times). After catching the level 1 Pokemon, make it fight a Pokemon so that it receives less then 53 experience. It will grow to level 100 then.

Just note that not all Pokémon can be experience underflowed. Only Pokémon who need 48 experience points to reach level 3 from level 2 are candidates for experience underflowing.

Actually, only pokemon who's experience curve is "fading" can be experience underflowed because of a bug with the formula where level 0 and 1 pokemon actually have negative experience. If you people have any other questions about glitches in Pokemon games don't ask here, it's quicker just to check http://tasvideos.org/PokemonTricks.html

I'm not really motivated to update it with tricks I am not familiar with, but I'm the only editor who cares about Pokemon (other than pirate_sephiroth, who hasn't been here for a long time). So I'll have to do it sometime.

I'm an editor that cares about pokemon, I just wasn't aware that the page needed updating.

Just at a glance, it's missing the Snorlax skip and walk-through-walls glitch.

As well as the tricks to skip both Pewter and Viridian gyms.

Luck manipulation for random encounters could also use a mild update. I would be willing to do a write up on some of these sections. I'm currently on vacation at the moment, but I do have some idle time during the day.

Theoretically, it should be possible.

If I remember correctly, there's an NPC that blocks your way out of Viridian City until you've delivered the parcel. Or at least he did in Fire/Leaf...

Most likely 3...it seems like it'd just be a flag bit used for more than one check.

Does anyone want to try and isolate the programming? I think I will experiment and see what happens if you walk into Viridian with Pokedex before getting Oaks parcel.

Meh, I'm trying to get Weezing to use Selfdestruct on me the first turn, dealing exactly 40 damage but it's not working. It's starting to get annoying. xD Okay, I got 40 damage in a testrun so I'm sure it's possible but I haven't gotten any luck yet. I'm guessing Weezing has 103-105 Attack (giving a damage window of 35-40, 37 on average, which seems to be correct). Mew has 208 Defense. So, if I'm not mistaken and 40 is indeed the max damage it possible can do, I have a 1/38 shot at Selfdestruct dealing exactly 40 damage. This sucks. Oh well, I can deal with 39 damage as well though, because I could remove two steps (getting 1 HP Poison damage less) and put them elsewhere so I get 2 HP Poison damage more which gives me 1 HP less. ^_^ (3 steps when leaving a building) With 39 damage, I have a 6/38 chance (or 3/19) if I calculated it correct.

Hm, not sure. :/ Anyway, I just finished my Pokemon Blue run (non TASed of course). I got 1:26. =D 12 minutes improvement over my old Youtube run! ^_^
