Ok so I don't know if this request fits in here but here goes. When are we going to get a subforum for Nintendo 3DS games and a subforum for Flash games? 3DS since we now have 3DS movies published on the site and Flash just to not oversaturate the Windows/Linux subforum, it would be kind of like how MS-DOS games have their own subforum. Also now that I remember, since Mupen-rr is acceptable for submissions again maybe we could bring back the subforum for that emulator as well.

I think Flash needs a subforum, because of the obscene amount of games it has, and they will only be getting more and more attention now. Not sure about 3DS yet, since those games are arguably harder to TAS, so I expect activity to be increasing slower.

If we see that one thread is not enough anymore, we'll add the subforum back (tho moving former mupen64 subforum threads back would be a waste of time IMO).

Posted about this in the Discord, but maybe it'll get looked into if I mention it here. I can report it on Github too if that's appropriate for this issue. I'm subscribed to the TASVideos Publication RSS feed, and it's been updating with random recent videos about 20 times per day, for over a week now. Is there any sort of automatic processing or recurring minor edits that could be causing all these videos to get re-added to the "newly published" list? Maybe when a new one is published, it updates a bunch of older ones? Here's a snippet of what it looks like: If it helps, I subscribe to the RSS with Feedbro on Firefox, Windows 10. I'm subscribed to a lot of other feeds, but this is the only one behaving like this, and this one used to work as expected (videos only get added when they're first published)

Is there an option to display the forums and/or site with something approximating their old appearance, similar to what Reddit does with old.reddit.com? I vastly prefer the previous appearance and layout.

No, there is not. Both of the sites are so different, it would be vastly too much work to maintain for a volunteer-run site like ours.

If I press the search button and search for "super mario", I get a list of ten game results, but this list does not contain Super Mario Bros or Super Mario World or Super Mario 64. And that's probably what I'm looking for if I'm typing those search terms. I think this would benefit from some "exact title match" feature, listing exact title matches first and then going on to text matches.
Someone brought the new site and specifically the search up over in the speedrunning thread on SA and were also confused over how searching for "mario" didn't find any of the main Mario games. After being confused about it myself for a bit, I managed to figure out that the basic search result page is paginated, but this is kind of extremely badly telegraphed. There's the "Next" button, but if you just went there from the search in the top right, it's actually pretty easy to overlook with where it is. Putting in an actual page selector like on forum pages, and/or putting the "Next" button below the results rather than above would probably go a long way here. And/or making the basic search sort by relevancy rather than alphabetically, like the advanced search. Edit: Also pointed out was that if you hit "More..." under Newest Submissions on the front page, the list defaults to sorting by oldest first, while the list on the front page is sorted by newest first. Would probably make sense to have the submission list page also be sorted by newest first by default.

The addresses modules displays the addresses in decimal, even when the internal list records the addresses in hexadecimal. While emulators often prompt users to enter the addresses in hexadecimal to watch, potentially confusing users when entering a value out of range e.g. 5 digits when the maximum is 0xffff, or even wrong address without the user knowing it. I do not know are there emulators which does this in decimal. So perhaps there can be 2 columns, address in hex and in dec, or just revert it back to display in hex.

^ Site rules ^ General profile settings While the site rules state that the image for your profile picture should be 100x100 pixels at most, the profile settings state that the image should be 125x125 at most. It seems like the site rules are outdated, so shouldn't it be updated to allow images up to 125x125? The site rules are a wiki page, and I couldn't find a place in the forums for a wiki page to be updated. I know this is more of an inconsistency, but I thought I'd mention it here.

On the 'Movies by Genre' tab of 'https://tasvideos.org/Movies' the 'Unofficial game' genre does not work (it links to '-uofficialgame' but needs to be '-Unofficial game' for it to work (but judging by the other genres maybe '-unofficalgame' is actually what's intended.))

I note that forum links from the old site design no longer work under the new site design, specifically the start parameter. This likely breaks a lot of old references and would be easy to fix. http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19741&start=400 (this link takes you to the first post of that thread whereas it should take you to post 400).

I attempted to download [4594] Linux Iconoclasts by Serena in 22:47.36's ltm file and while the download finished, the zipped ltm file (serena-iconoclasts.ltm) was not recognized as a valid ltm file for libTAS or even as a .tar.gz file (it appeared to be either corrupted or empty). Downloading the zipped submission from #7292: Serena's Linux Iconoclasts in 22:47.36 gave me the file she uploaded (iconoV2.ltm) which works as expected.

It seems to be a valid .tar.gz file as far as 7zip sees. The SHA-1 also matches the submission file. Might be something weird during that one time you tried? Try downloading the file again.

Just did, got the same results :( here's the file as shown by Ark. It's worth mentioning it cannot recognize the method for the file, altho the checksum matches the submission file here's submission for reference wouldn't be surprised if this is just ark sucking tho, so I'll do an unzip thru terminal just to make sure

The only difference I'm seeing here is one has "Mode" (I assume that's permissions?) empty. I assume that just means no permissions are assigned it. Seems to not matter for Windows, I assume it's only a possible problem on Linux. EDIT: This got fixed a while ago.

The list of rejected submissions is now pretty confusing due to a recent change. I used to go to Movies > Submissions then click on "will not make it" to see the page. Now you only see a list of all possible rejected reasons by doing so. There's a link on this page now called "This page" that appears to lead to the old list, but instead it's a link to itself. The actual new link to follow on that page is the "rejected submissions" one, but I thought it was the wrong link at first because the contents of the page is identical to the main Movies > Submissions page until I realized the list of filters is different. I like the new design and usability of the rejection list, but its integration to the site appears to be unfinished.

The old list does not exist, it was intended to go to a description of each reason, I just linked the wrong page, that has been fixed

It's quite frustrating that the submission text is not counted as a post in workbench threads, so if you post and then click "Show previous posts" you can't see it. It is traditional for forum software to allow you to compose on the same page as the thread itself, and this would eliminate the issue and also just be much nicer in general. Having to click twice instead of 0 times to be in the often-desired "composing with visible context" state is pretty annoying. But if that's too much to ask for, at least including submission text in Previous Posts would be really helpful.
