This is totally off topic, but tell me why would you like to hide your IP? I hope you are using a good proxy or else your IP is on bisqwit's logs.

cause every other irc server I been on has the option to hide my ip address. But this one says you need to pay for it. I know my ip is on bisqwits logs its alright though. He has a right to have my ip but I dont want every regular person on here to know it.

Did you even look it up if you could or not? Taken from the FAQ on the freenode site. "Can I get a hostname cloak? Yes. You can get a generic user cloak to hide your hostname from DoS attacks or you can get a project cloak to show your participation in a community project. " For more information actually read the rest of that FAQ on the site. Also if your so worried about people getting your IP, start using a proxy as anyone can get your IP easily without it...

YEs I did look that up and I clicked there link It said you had to pay for it. Most servers automatically hide your ip on connect and also some servers have a free vhost, and some servers you have to pay for the vhost but this server you cannot even hide your ip address unless you pay, which is pathetic. Im not going to connect to a cheap server like that. btw this is going off topic so just shut up about it.

I didn't ask if you looked at it I asked if you read it. If you did then you would have read: " If you're thinking about getting a generic cloak, though, please consider instead making a donation to Peer-Directed Projects Center. " You will notice there are 3 different types of cloaks they offer. Free, project, and donation. With donation ones being different depending on how much you donate.

Not only did you not read the webpage, but you didn't read what I wrote. You do not need to pay, they are asking for donations IF POSSIBLE

If you had actually read the page, you would know that they DO offer host name cloaking without any kind of money transaction. " * If you'd like a generic user cloak, just ask a network staffer to turn it on for you. "

Moved from the Dracula X thread. Locking, because this is a stupid topic. As for my opinion of this topic -- as I understood, SSVegetto doesn't like freenode, because freenode doesn't offer a free IP address cloaking. Fine - don't use an IP address cloaking then! Then you can chat freely. It's not like your "CPE-nn-nnn-nn-nn.new.res.rr.com" host is some grave secret. And the showing of IP address doesn't seem to bother the 34 persons who are at the #nesvideos channel right now. It doesn't bother even me - my IP address (bisqwit.iki.fi! Wow! How would you have guessed.) is publicly available too.
