pika9323 found a new glitch that should save a lot of time called the ocarina glitch. Here's a few videos of it:

you can skip part of the Temple of Droplets using this, but the biggest use for it which I don't think has a video yet is to access the Palace of Winds early and skip Royal Valley/Royal Crypt/Veil Falls/Cloud Tops. Should save a bit of time. :P
Another trick in the temple of droplets - in the room down the stairs in the room with the blue warp, do the glitch and go a couple screens south, then go west until you reach the waterfall. Then go one screen west, one north, and one east then jump down to skip almost everything between the lantern and the boss fight.
Couple notes about the Temple of Droplets: if you push the second switch that lets in sunlight before the first, nothing happens immediately; if you leave and come back all the light is there but the octorok/element aren't unfrozen. Pulling the second switch before the first also makes it impossible to unfreeze the octorok/element. It is also possible to get to the boss fight without the lantern, which is useless.
I don't think anyone's looked for anything with it in Palace of Winds yet.

I have not seen any amount of progress on the TAS, but just from watching the first video I can see that the whole run is probably going to need a redo to incorporate it. That's really weird bug... is it minish cap exclusive, or do you think maybe it can work in some other Zelda 2D games?
Actually Comicalflop, the glitch seems to require the Ocarina, which can only be obtained after beating the third dungeon. As things go, I haven't actually gotten up to the 4th yet (darn my laziness!), so it seems like I should be able to incorporate this glitch without much difficulty (I'll watch all the videos once i get unshaped, stupid dial-up like speeds).
I doubt it'd be possible to do in other 2d Zelda games, but I suppose the only thing you could do is test.
well, you'll need to fuse Kinstones with the guy in castle town, so that means you need the right Kinstone piece... then there's the matter of when the best time to go fuse with him is.
Thats a minor detail, easily taken care of. The ideal time to get the kinstone piece is in the temple of droplets, as its basically on your path, and in a chest (all three red kinstone pieces are in the temple in the same room). the ideal time to fuse would be either directly after that, or after getting your sword empowered to the third level.
I cant think off the top of my head of a more convenient location for that kinstone piece, although true, it is slightly out of the way (although once you go there, you can right to the warp point and then the next dungeon).

You're thinking Exploration Glitch, not clipping. Clipping is when Link is moving downwards and brushes past an object, pushing him 1 pixel ahead. EG is walking through walls.

I stand corrected. Thanks. I still think runs with these kinds of glitches should be in a separate category, though.
With regards to the glitch, what about Dark Hyrule Castle? Any possible breaks on this level? Boss key early, perhaps? I don't have my old save file anymore.

From the bit of testing that I did yesterday, it seems the only real viable use for this is in the ice dungeon, and skipping the royal valley/cloud top section.
In the palace of winds, there's only one area that i saw a potential use for it, but that was quickly quashed by the fact that the object of desire (a key) is on a different layer, so i cant get up to it.
In dark hyrule castle i think i've found a single use for it (gogo roc's cape!), that would save a small portion of time depending on which route i decided not to take (gives me an extra key, and allows me to skip a pretty small portion of exploring for a key). Otherwise, the glitch usage would be fairly minimal.
Also, I don't really see a need for a separate category myself.

With the Ocarina Glitch, would it be possible to clip through the books and get into Librari's place without returning any library books? I'm not really sure how it works exactly, but it's an idea.

Ok you can skip the Power Bracelets with the ocarina glitch but i noticed that you need it for the third book so it is useless=(

it wouldn't hurt to give us a text description of how to do it and put up the video later... unless I'm mistaken that's the part Atma's currently at and if he plans on working on it soon, it would be annoying to have to wait for your video to go up.

After the first book(the person with the cat)go into the cafe get a minish and go to the market(as a minish you know what i mean i hope).there you perform the ocarina glitch and go ->.then there should be a sliding screen and you should on the top of the house of the guy who has got the Legend of the Picori.Now get the book down and get it as a normal person.thats how to skip the Power Bracelets.But at the third book you will need then to get the book so this is useless.

but there i got stuck but i noticed if you use the Pegasus Boots you will not always get stuck.

i also found a new Oob at the tempel of droplets(or so^^)but it require rocs cape and the magic boomerang so this will be not used in TSA
