Yeah for a favicon.ico! (The top 16x16 icon in the address bar) I like to keep my fav sites in my shortcut toolbar and if it has a favicon it doesnt need any text so this just saved me some 20 pixels in that bar :-) -ast

I love it, but the white part needs to be transparent, in my opinion.

Good thing you brought this topic up. Now I want someone to design a new favicon.ico for us. :) And not just one, but three: - One for published movies - One for pending submissions - One for other content (regular pages) The forum can share one of those. Why? Because when you bookmark individual pages (or use the RSS live bookmark list feature of Mozilla Firefox), you'll have different types of pages in your bookmark list, and it'd be nice if you can visually spot which entries are of which type. And I'm not really satisfied with the dying Mario icon. :)

If anyone can somehow convert PNG files or GIF files with transparency to ICO (because I don't have a clue what kind of format it really is), I'll do it. I'm gonna find some pics in any case. Here's one: Onion kids rock, of course. :) This one's better than Mario dying.

Took this, but the other doesn't seem to be suitable for either of the remaining tasks.

.ico is .bmp with some size restrictions.

Not really true, windows does support a renamed .bmp as an .ico but that is an explorer thing. ICO is more complicated in that it supports multiple image sizes and color depths. Windows icons are 48 × 48, 32 × 32, 24 × 24, and 16 × 16 at 24 8 and 4 bit. Windows will automatically fill in missing sizes but a 32x32 icon at 16x16 usually looks unrecognizable. http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnwxp/html/winxpicons.asp For the favicon.ico though you only need 16x16. I think most browsers even support png or gif favicons but its best to stick with the ICO format and use that above link.
