Valis is the first game in the Valis series. In it, the heroine, Yuuko, is chosen by Queen Valia to save the dream world kingdom of Vecanti from the tyranny of King Rogles.
The game was first released in 1986 for the MSX and PC-88, and five years later in 1991 for Sega Genesis.
Movie features:
  • Emulator used: Gens 11a
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Genre: Platform
Magic
You get a new more powerful spell every time you defeat a boss.
Casting a spell takes much more time than normal attacks and the damage isn't very high, so no spells are cast during the game.
Weapons
These you have to collect by yourself. Upgrades give you a double and a triple shot.
weapon 1 - bullets
weapon 2 - laser
weapon 3 - arrows (skipped)
weapon 4 - cutters (skipped)
weapon 5 - grenades
I didn't collect weapon 3 (arrows) because the amount of arrows in air at a time is limited, so the laser is still more effective.
I also skipped weapon 4 (cutters) because collecting upgrades makes you choose a different, a lot slower route.
In the forest boss, the earlier laser weapon is only slightly less effective than the cutters.
Boss hp address: 00FFDE5B
This movie is Vault-material for sure. I just wanted to see how much I can improve my not-so-serious test run made 8 years ago.
The re-record count is high because of lag frames interrupting input all the time.

feos: Accepting to Vault.
Fog: Processing.

Valis: The adventures of an anime schoolgirl who thinks she's Megaman, but she can't find any walls to zip through so she spends all of her time sliding.

Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

With the slow running speed and low gravity, this game might as well take place on the moon. It even looks a bit comical. But all in all, Valis doesn't seem to be a bad game, and I was more entertained by the run than I had hoped for. My vote falls somewhere between a robust "meh" and a weak "yes".
