Brilliant work! I've been a fan of all your rpg movies and can't wait to see more, i'd like to see terranigma mind you the most (hint hint)! It's a shame I don't know enough to help you out.

Thanks. I don't know which game I will make next, but another RPG like Terranigma will be just too long. Althought this games are great, 1/2 year per walkthrough is a bit long. I will concentrate on a platformer next. Now I need a break after all this stress and exertions and decide later what game I pick next.

Mind if I ask one thing, at dialog do you use turbo to get through it all or do you try and press a button only when necessary, this is for long dialog sequences.

Of course I use turbo at all dialogs. Waiting and pressing only if necessary is to much unneeded work. I use 2 buttons and press them alternate, on this way I reach the earliest possible moment to switch between the dialogs automatical.

Thanks, I look forward to your next run whatever it is (i like seeing platformers if they aren't overly glitched). I'll start on my rpg run now. Thanks again for the advice!

I do believe it's high time we had a minimalist run of this great game (although it would probably obsolete the 100%, just like with Super Mario RPG). And just to refresh everyone's memory about the bugs, as well as introduce some new ones: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/snes/code/588645.html PS: Oh and can we keep the Volume Evelope Height Reading on this time?

Oh, gosh you are right there are lots of new bugs: "infinite run stamina: With any weapon that has reached level three you can exploit an infinite run glitch. Hold down the attack button until the weapon reaches its maxinum charge level , continue to hold the attack button , while also holding the run button " "Invicibility during boss battles: When you receive the alchemy spell "escape" from Horace, take it with you before any bossfight. Then, quickly cast it on you and your dog. You won't be able to esacpe, but you'll be invulnerable to any attack. " "Skip the fight with the two mechadusters: To skip the very first boss fight againest the two mechadusters, just simply press the start button when you're watching the cutscene at the begining of the game and youll start right in Prehistoria." cu Fabian

-the topic was 2 years old and the tricks aint any new? -the stamina trick is slower because you need to level that weapon + in a tas saturns method of running is the best -why should anyone need invulnerablity at a boss fight? just dont get hit like saturn ;) thats what i think about :p PS: if you want still to use this "awesome" tricks make a tas yourself of evermore and include them :D

Well woudn't it be able to save time by "taking damage" when you are invulnerable ? You would skip every move you need to dodge an attack and you could attack as fast as possible, unless it's slower.

Still, if one were to make a minimalist run, knowing about being able to skip the first fight would come in handy.

heres my wip going for fastest playthrough http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/87167821/Secret%20of%20Evermore%20%28U%29%20%5B%21%5D.smv btw i also could improve saturns run in many points still collecting 100% and stuff but i feel like the fastest playthrough is missing and it offers some what different moves and strategies for the game over the existing run ps: manipulating dog and boy to do what you want is a hard piece of work because the controlls are limited in many situations - that may answer some questions later "why does the dog stand there and not better there" blabla etc. [EDIT by Bisqwit: Moved this post into the existing thread. Nice job, evilchen. In total you managed to save 432 frames compared to my 100% run when entering Fire Eye's village. This was of course far too much to be a realistic improvement to my run, so I went ahead and compared both runs more carefully, trying to find a reason for this. And I did: I actually did a horrible mistake at this point by not triggering this dialogue to start appearing much faster by simply pressing the action button 2 (not 1 time like I did in that case) times before it. This first few dialogues in the beginning were the only case where I didn't use turbo/autofire in the entire TAS to fast-forward them, because I at first planned to do that manually by pressing the action button on the first possible frame (but later realized that it would be too much unnecessary work to do so, so I started to use turbo a few seconds later after that). This one and only dialogue-delay in my entire run costed 283 (+/- 5) frames alone compared to your run. :-( The real time saver you managed to get were ~1 sec in the first jungle room by skipping the Root pickup at the beginning and not killing another Wimpy Flower, and around 1,25 sec in the Raptor fight by manipulating their position somewhat better when hitting them. Also, you obviously saved a few frames by skipping the name entrance screen. I wouldn't do that (because it will look stupid in the entire run whenever your name gets mentioned), but everybody has his own opinion. I don't expect it to save much more than a few seconds in the entire run anyway. Your run looks great so far, and I'm looking for more progress. Good luck!

since its pure speed i cant take care of names and rpg story :/ so i think its ok mystic quest runs hero was named A too or? :P btw you knew the skip i do with the dog bug? it saves much time because i can skip giving the dog a name and skip the whole 1st dialog with fireeye + her first alchemist spell(should save muuuuuch time i guess)

WIP without need of emulator, please! ...I hope that annoying glitch with the emulator that elongated some sounds has been fixed.

The dog skip is well known of course. As said before, I just wanted to make a fully legit run that doesn't use this kind of skips, since it would badly destroy the game-story, which I wanted to fully show (since it was a 100% run) in any case. Btw, do you already have a impression on how well the Snes9x 1.51 version works against desyncs in this game? Was is absolutely stable in your run so far, or are there still a few desyncs happening from time to time? And if so, did you notice in which locations they appear mostly?

most desyncs happen in the enemy ai, the waypoints they are going sometimes changed when playing back the movie but for now the newest beta from 1.51 (which gocha made) had no desyncs up to vulgors dungeon which i think is stable enough to keep going

Glad to hear that. And I see you still use the good old german names for the bosses. For those who wonder, "Vulgor" is the german name for the giant bug boss "Thraxx". I too had my problems to get used to them when making TAS progress reports back then. ;-)

Saturn, you can save more time in all worlds mainly in prehistorika in case you make use of the multiplication-area trick of the game. this allows you to have easy access to (with manipulated luck incredibly) much more incredients, items and call beads. the trick in perfection is published here in german. you have to translate it before. http://www.rpg-dreamer.de/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=680
