Heh, it won't... I probably won't BLJ up the B3 staircase either, for the reason you said, but I will BLJ up the 50 Star Door stairs, in order not to get the door sequence.

That means you'll get at least the minimum stars required to past through the star doors (even if you BLJ)? I think this would be like normal playing, but instead of opening the door the normal way you'll get through it using the BLJ.

I think it's faster to BLJ the final staircase even if you have the 70 star requirement.

I don't see a problem bljing te last staircase because the 70 star door is properly opened.

BLJ stands for backward long jump.

For going up the final staircase, I'm impartial to doing it either way, so when the time comes, we can have a small vote or something... Anyway, still trying to match FODA/AKA's frame-count for Shoot into the Wild Blue... I'm about 30 frames behind them; but getting a little closer with every try.

So what about the other doors? Will you be restricted by them too?

Gets sort of complecated here, but I'll try to explain my idea as well as I can: For all doors that require 15 stars or less, I'll get in them using any method (eg, Lobby Glitch), whenever I want/need. For all doors that require more than 15 stars, I'll also get in them using any method, but only when I'd normally have enough stars to get through them in normal playing... Hopefully that didn't come out too confusing.

So...
  • If you don't have enough stars for a door, you'll glitch past it.
  • If you have enough stars, you'll either glitch through or open them normally, depending on how the weather is outside.
  • You'll either slowly run up the final staircase or you'll use the faster and cooler looking BLJ, depending on what everyone votes on.
Did I get that right?

eh, he won't pass any doors that need more than 15 stars unless he has the required amount of stars. he will still use the fastest method to pass by.

Why place these restrictions? Why not just say "whatever gets me 70 stars the fastest"?

So why 15 stars? If you're going to impose abritrary restrictions on yourself, why not keep them consistent?
<Zurreco> if so called professional players cant adapt to every playing field, theyre obviously not that great

Here's what I have planned for the rest of the Lobby; if anyone can see any improvements, let me know. Lakitu Skip into Castle to avoid Lakitu Message. Lobby Glitch into WF. 1. Chip Off Whomp’s Block 2. To the Top of the Fortress 3. Shoot into the Wild Blue 4. Red Coins on the Floating Isle 5. Drop onto the Caged Island 6. Blast Away the Wall Enter WF, exit course, Lobby Glitch into CCM. 7. Slip Slidin’ Away 8. Lil’ Penguin Lost 9. Wall Kicks Will Work Enter CCM, exit course, Lobby Glitch into PSS. 10. PSS Under 21’’ 11. Mario Wings to the Sky Double jump to BoB door, enter BoB 12. Behind Chomp’s Gate 13. Big Bobomb on the Summit (may be subject to change) 14. Shoot to the Island in the Sky 15. Mario Wings to the Sky Exit BoB normally, Lobby Glitch into BitDW 16. Bowser in the Dark World Exit course from BitDW, Lobby Glitch into PSS again 17. PSS Head to BBH normally. BTW, if all goes to plan, there shouldn't be a single door sequence thruogh the entire run (yes, including the DDD/B2 door).

I personally feel that the "point" of a 70 star run is that it shouldn't be glitched--in other words, you don't glitch past any doors. If you do glitch past them, the restriction to 70 stars is arbitrary and could just as easily be 30 or 50, or some other random number.

I always thought the 'point' of the 70-star run was to obtain the minimum amount of stars needed to remove the trigger on the infinite-staircase-o-death before entering the last Bowser level; hence the 70.

I always thought the point of a 70 star run would be to get 70 stars as fast as possible.

I think there is. If you're going for the 8 red coins, maybe you should consider to get 100 coins as well?! I think, this would be at least faster than the PSS star. Going to and opening the door (more than 7 seconds), jumping into the window (2 seconds?), running/jumping to the slide (3-4 seconds?) and the sliding (12.6 seconds). ahhh, I really don't know...

Only if it's in the lobby. On Thursday.

I'm still for the run with no longjump, double/triple jump, wall jumps, backflips, or side flips. Retro style. Come on people, get on it. Maybe we can have another with no caps too. Oh and one where Mario, get this, only crawls. Brilliant? I think so.

Ooh, a crawl run... So it'd be like that episode of Space Ghost where he follows the ant?

oh yea, it could be for the fool-assisted speedruns site: compete to see who can find the quickest star to get, but starting the level with "Z" button pushed all the way. start from 120 stars acquired (all doors unlocked).

Try "In the Deep Freeze". At the start, backflip onto the snow slope behind you, then slide down it. Now that you are moving forward, you can long jump. Jump sideways over to the slope nearest the maze. Then do a couple more backflips up the slope, slide down and do a triple jump to the star.
