Now that I have thought about it more, I think it's definitely possible to get a time such as 32 or even 31 mins by just changing the order of the first 8 robots and optimizing the slides. I started with Blizzardman and the rest I did according to their weaknesses. As you said, C.Flash would definitely be a big help in Plantman's stage. I only started with Blizzardman because I wanted the Jet early and went for the Beat part in Tomahawkman's stage. I'll PM you the address to my fmv.
Possible yes. Likely, but right now... I'm not sure. Mostly because I've got exams coming up and I have to drop out of the scene for a couple weeks.
You're run looks good, and exploits some nasty bugs which I knew nothing about. (Like Dr. X 2) Unfortunately, Famtasia has tricked you! The time on the file is indeed 34:33, but on my watch, you finshed in 35:14. (It could be a bug with the emulator, or me, but since the fmv worked fine, we
Still great though, because even with the optimizations that I was planning, I wasn't expecting a time faster then 36:30.
Watch for my PM, I'm sending you my Beta Unfinished run with 8 bosses killed. I started with Yamato Man, and I made big mistakes in Centaur Man. Finished in 19:39, 30 slower than your 8 boss time.
You are correct. Craptasia has given me a wrong time. I just timed the run myself and got the same as you did. I've no idea what this is due to, though.
Okay, I just watched your run of the 8 bosses and I think it's quite good. I especially liked the Flameman stage. I thought that it'd be extremely slow without the Rush Jet Adaptor but I see now that I was totally wrong. The sliding should be optimized (almost all points where you walked could've been slid) and some points where you wait even though you wouldn't need to should be corrected. And I think the Yamatoman Beat part is definitely faster than the regular way. Thus, the order in which you play the bosses should be changed, too, as you need the Jet Adaptor to get it. Otherwise it's very nice and I think you'd have a good chance of beating my time.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that one thing that should be corrected, too, is that in Blizzardman stage I think you should use the F.blast a little less during the stage, so that you don't have to change to Windstorm and back in the end. I didn't really look closely if there were any points where you used the F.blast and you could've avoided it, so I could be wrong.
EDIT2: Yet another edit. I noticed that I said earlier that I got the Tomahawkman stage Beat part. This is of course not correct, I meant the Yamatoman stage Beat part.
In the Blizzard Man stage, I'm about 2 bars short in the flame weapon of finishing the stage without problems. If I had done the beginning of the stage with just Mega Buster, that should give back 5 but would be slower because it takes more shots to kill those seals. This would help because I had 9 bars when I got to the last miniboss. I need 4 to kill him, so assuminug no miss (Well, it has to be anyway!) I would be able to finish the stage without changing weapons again.
Also, I need to practice Centaur Man to do it in your time because when you do it, you don't have to wait for the water to fall.
And about the Rush Jet thing, yeah, it's a problem. I should start with Flame Man instead, because I did the stage with Mega Blaster anyway. (Except for the 2nd room, but if I did it as fast as you, I won't need the Centaur Flash) If I do it that way, I should get Rush Jet faster and can go on through the Beat stages with better paths.
EDIT: What if I did Knight Man first? I would be able use Rush Jet by Yamato Man. I'd have to practice using the Mega Buster against his shield, though. But doing it this way will also give me Centaur Flash for Plant Man but also lose some time in Wind Man because I won't have Blizzard Attack. Also, Flash makes Plant Man easier, but may not faster because of the time lag in the weapon.
*fumes* Ugh, I dunno how you guys do this crap. >< Been TRYING to make a halfway decent 1st recording here. But EVERY time I hit the wrong button by mistake and instead of loading, I save. ~.~ And it isn't like I'm blindly groping at keys. I mapped save/load on my gamepad's shoulder buttons.
*scowl* Got up to the hellish final part of Plantman's stage before it happened this time. I guess it's one of those things you have to train yourself to do if you aren't used to it, huh? X.x;
[Update: Alrighty, got a Rockman 6 run made (As I didn't have the US version handy @.x) but it isn't exactly the greatest. There's one moment towards the end where I get fairly batted around in an enemy-clogged spot that I hope I can improve...x.x Though I did manage a couple of interesting moves here and there. If anyone's interested, I can send it.]

So far in my Rockman movie progress I've made 87 backups. That's about 12 per result minute :)
I stop the recording, make a backup copy, then view the recording (to check it's ok), and resume recording.
Sometimes I branch, creating alternate choices and comparing them, and sometimes I undo from a backup because I've made a mistake that I can't undo otherwise.
I'm very interested in seeing your run, please do send it to my email which you can see under this message.
At least right now I can't think of any reason why this would not work. It seems very good to me. Perhaps you should try it out.
EDIT: So far I have only thought of two minor time-consumers on that route. In Knightman's stage you can't jump over the shielded enemy (in the room after the spikes) and it looks bad to wait for the enemy to open it's shield. The other one is in Knightman's stage as well, only a few rooms from the shielded enemy. It's the room with the 2 rotating gears and spikes in the bottom (I think). There it's definitely faster to use the Jet. These are of course only cosmetic things.
*blink* Hmm... no attachment option. o.o *headtilt* Got AIM or ICQ? c.c
And now that I've gone back and watched again, it was Centaurman Mk II that did the kicking of butt, not a group of enemies. X.x Dumb thing kept teleporting into me. >< But then, I think it was the only time in the game I let myself get hit more than once or twice. I tried to keep as close to full HP as I could.
I figure if I could emulate at a slower speed, I could pull off a more interesting run, though. My controller isn't exactly great for Megaman games, since the d-pad on it is tilted to the right just slightly. Tends to make me slide when I don't wanna. ><
Anyway, m'AIM name is Ozorawa Yuki, so.... o.o
Sorry, I've tried to stay as far away as possible from ICQ or AIM. I guess I just won't be able to see it. What was the time on your run by the way?
Am I missing something here? You have realized that you can set the speed from the config menu of the emulator, haven't you?
Thought I looked through all of the menus. o.o Whoops. @@;
[Edit: Alright, I've checked all the menus AGAIN and I still don't see a spot to change the speed. c.c;;;]
As for the time, it was 47:17. It most definitely could get better. For one thing, I really need to start sliding as often as I can. After a few more runs through, I'll probably get the pattern of all the enemies down, too. Maybe then I can start pulling off some of the insane stuff I've seen in the other RM/MM videos. o.o
It's not that great, but it -was- my first attempt at something like this. Hopefully I'll be able to get better at it as I go. Anyways...

There it is. I was using v0.91b for the recording.

Config -> Speed
Change the percentage to whatever you like. Remember the slower that you go, the slower the game will respond, so button timing may change.
[EDIT: Oops, I assumed you were using Famtasia. I don't know VirtuaNES that well]
If you use the 60fps hack of Famtasia (available on the main page), your responsiveness will increase. Newer time attacks don't use auto-fire anymore, they just run super-slo-mo.
I don't know Mega Man 6 that well, but 47 minutes seems very long when compared to the other games in the series. But I won't judge until I watch your run.
[2ND EDIT: The link does not work. I don't have permission to get the file]
Yeah, well, trouble is, I can't configure my bloody controller with Famtasia, else I -would- be using it. x.x Messed with all the options concerning controllers and the like and I still couldn't get it set up properly. So I went on to VirtuaNES.
[Edit: *whistles* Woo, lordy... well, I just gave a slo-mo keyboard-controlled run a try... and I learned something - I can't hold down more than two keys at a time. Meaning no sliding while charging, no charging while jumping... @.@ Eegah. That and I'm crap controlling things with the keypad. >>; Do most people use the keyboard, or do they manage to get a gamepad up and working?]
As for not being able to get the file - freeservers has been a real pain in the butt lately. Try using something like GetRight. Should work that way.
I needta look into webspace that isn't cranky, yo. X.x
For VirtuaNES, set the throttle to whatever FPS you want and switch between that number and 60 using your throttle key (TAB or something). It's a feature Famtasia is lacking.
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster.
I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.
Wow, this is weird. I ran across it by accident before checking the second page of that board. X.x; Was watching the Smash TV video and went to speed it up...but it slowed down instead. *sweatdrop*
Excellent. But now I can only wonder if anyone would wanna see a video of one of the most annoying and insane games for the system - Clash at Demonhead. That game was the bane of my existance for years. X.x
*finishes the Smash TV vid and resumes work on MM6* Waha~
[Edit: Right, I'll just leave this junk up to the folks who DON'T suck total frog ass while playing in slomo x.x; I can't do this crap, yo. Too unresponsive. x.x Ah well, it was a nice idea while it lasted.]
Okay, as I had some free time on my hands I did a second version of my MM6 run and managed to improve it by over one minute. The new time is 33:26. I didn't do anything differently, just optimized some weapon switches, slides and boss fights. Just letting you know.
I watched and I think it looks good. It's pretty dull at times but that's not really your fault. It's not the most exciting of the Megaman games. It has some good moments, though. In particular, there were several parts with great work with the Mega Buster.
Thanks for taking the time to get the accuracy right, too. That is one thing that bothered me about some of the other Megaman movies.
Chirst, that's fast.
I give up. And for the life of me, I can't understand how you pull off that second room fo Flame Man. Everytime I do it like you, the cannon fires before my bullets can reach it.

Watched the FMV.
What I liked:
-Finished some levels by using your last shot of a special weapon by killing the boss. That must take exceptional planning.
-The Mr. X/Wily levels were done really well. Lots of dogding/bobbing/weaving, and bosses were destroyed very quickly.
I was a little disappointed by the regular stages. I would have liked to see more special weapon usage. Also, the Centaur Flash wasn't used outside of fighting Wind Man. It seems so useful. Do it actually suck?
What's up with BEAT in this game? I'm in the dark, as you collected one piece but didn't get the others.
BEAT is the bird that works like the BEAT weapon in MM5. (Pecks enemies until they die, but wastes more energy than previous versions.) The reason that he got only one part was because the levels where you can get them split off into two sections. The shorter and less time consuming section usually doesn't have the BEAT part, with the exception of Yamato Man, where the BEAT part section takes about 30 seconds less than the regular route.
EDIT: I abused special weapons, but it's part of the reason why I'm slower. I have my 8 boss run of my beta run up, which I sent to krys about a week ago. If you want to see more weapons used in the stages, then this is the one. (Although, not by much)
Remember to Save As Target
Well switching weapons always takes time and C.Flash also has a small lag when used. And I don't think using it would look very skillful either. I don't think there were any places where I could have saved time using it. As for the regular stages, yeah they were pretty boring and I may have concentrated too much on time. The Mega Buster is fast and as I said weapon switches take time. What sucks about this game is that it's boring, as kopernical said. Especially the bosses.
In the first version, I managed to do this on the second try and I didn't realize that there was anything difficult to this trick. On my second version I couldn't get it to work either, but after over 1000 rerecords I got lucky. I still don't know why it didn't fire then.
EDIT: Yeah, and thanks for all the comments :)
