I was able to play the WIP from the save-state using Jabo's 1.6 plugin, until the armos room, but that's beside the point. AKA, did you have raw data unchecked? AKA, AngerFist, did you play from the save-state, or from the very start?

I'm going to need to rely on you guys to check the WIPs since I don't have the new plugin that Guano is using. Hence, I can't watch the movies in Mupen64 and have to wait for bkDJ to convert them to .avi. Always play back from the very beginning to check for desynchs. You don't want to find a desynch when you're several dungeons past it.

From save-state but that shouldnt matter. The plugins Im using are: Video Plugin: glN64 v0.4.1 Input Plugin: Jabo's DirectInput7 1.6 Sound Plugin: Jabo's DirectSound 1.6 RSP Plugin: RSP emulation Plugin Raw data not enabled.

Same settings than me but I got the same desynch as AKA, grabbing a ledge after bombing Dodongo's entrance...

I managed to get it to work by using Guano's savestate, but my own ready save state desyced before, someone needs to check from the beginging, which I could do Tommorow by letting the movie run at 1000% from the begining while doing other stuff and then checking to see if it left outside DC. Comments on DC 1. Clever what you did on the bomb, although that probally be too tricky to pull off in real time 2. I'm not convinced about what you did in staircase room, you pull out the bombchu early and then start trying to cover up the wait with slow snacky style running , when it would have been best to get to where you need in the optimal time, backflip and pull out the chu. 3. I did quite a bit of research in the armos room quite some time ago. I'm not convinced about what you did for getting to the switch in the optimal time by jumpslashing on the armos and then turning and backflipping. There are two other strategies 1 of them being TAS excusive, 3.1. Backflip on the statue and then backflip off the statue and the onto the switch 3.2. This takes me ages to do on a console and requires precise line and tilt shift momentum. Roll towards the statue at and angle Link will appear on the statue and then continue on and jump off it, but that just the easy bit. Slow down and move left, by pull back and left on the analougue. You should be able to clip and land on the platform and then sidestep onto the switch. I think this is quicker than the previously mentioned one because you couldn't backflip imediateltly you needed to backwalk at an angle and then backflip. 4. I'll assume that the bomb hover to the bombs was optimal 5. You admitted it earlier that you didn't equip a stick after the bombs so there no real need to mention it. 6. I think you could of been better placed to perform the text skip, it didn't seem very optimal 7. This was the most obvious mistake. In the block room you should push the right edge of the block so you can side hop closer to the door. 8. More importantly, you didn't use the faster block pushing method which is too risky to do in real time. I'm not refering to Angerfist's soft block pushing method by the way of holding Z midway a push and then runninf up to the block while its moving. The faster method is timed so that you let go of A and then run up to the block, its like soft block pushing but not as fast, but its not possible to do the soft block pushes on them. If you want to know what the pushing looks like then refer to Acryte's video of it. 9. Dondongo is pretty easy to optimize in anyone's language. I also timed how long its till the wolf howl and there approximatley 1:22 left, which kind of makes me pessimistic as to if it possible to reach the castle grounds in time. Basic calculations in my head say it'll be night time when approaching the moat, which is doesn't sound good.

ok, what the hell. did you switch video plugins when you entered dodongo's cave? direct64/gln64 desyncs as soon as the interior wall is blown open (takes the wrong angle down the slope, grabs ledge). I made a savestate right before entering the cave, and switch to jabo's plugin and it worked. After that though it doesn't matter what plugin combination I use, the armos room never gets done. No avi from me until this is sorted out.

Jabo's plugin works for a while then desyncs, I have tested it in many areas with many save states and it desyncs eventually in certain spots. I think it was better when Jabo's plugin was used like on the first run-through but I guess it wouldn't be fair for the linux users, hopefully this run will be able to be encoded in the end.

If you're loading a personal savestate, it could be that he went back and redid whatever part of the file you save it as. That, or he did something else. Try to play through without a savestate first.

I got a desync using your savestate, could be because I don't have your input plugin, but I'll try running it without a savestate. EDIT- Wait a sec. I have the plugin, just didn't use it. Let me try this again. EDIT2- Used the plugin, ran like clockwork. Great run Guano, nice boss battle in particular. I liked that jumpslash to get onto the platform with the switch (in the room with the 4 armos) and the sword glitch was activated very quickly, as was the ground jump (using a bombchu to blow it up faster, nice!)

Funny, I was able to watch the WIP from your savestate with no desyncs but whenever I try to view the whole damn thing it either desyncs at the first owl appearance or if I bypass that it desyncs at the cuckoo (you pick it up and run into the water in the entrance or you don't pick it up and run into the river) in Gerudo Valley (Damn birds and your evil desyncs!).

Has anyone been able to play the run from the beginning and not experience a desync?

FORWARD BACKWALKING!!! Please use this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCqexHJxsOM (from the SDA forums) This would make thing so much more interesting and probably help you perfect your lines.

Not I, unless THIS is supposed to happen. Did Guanobowl ever confirm that 5BD1FE107BF8106B2AB6650ABECD54D6 is the MD5 of the ROM he's using?

Does it actually change anything besides which way the camera is facing, such as reducing the time it takes to change angles later or begin backwalking initially? Otherwise, it looks like it must waste some time to use it...

It seems like it would take a few more frames to set up. So it's probably not desirable to do it in a TAS...

Yes, it's slower to do.

Indeed. If it takes more time to setup, then forget it. It may be a few frames every time, but they add up over the course of a two-hour run.

I don't have a problem the perspective of currently backwalking. I also think that the forward-backwalking would waste frames besides there isn't much to look at anyway when he is backwalking, sure it takes away from the movie in a irregular way but with TASing in mind and in consideration I say what the hell. There may be a need for another run without backwalking but I really don't mind the backwalking just to be even clearer.

While I'm generally against the idea of the front looking backwalk, it might not hurt in areas like the Hyrule Field 10k.

I'd assume it's possible to do this with the superslide, and I doubt it would waste frames there.

If you use a bombchu on the bomb flower to ground jump, and use 4 bombchus to do bomb bag early, will you have enough bombchus. Also there's been a new time saver found in the deku tree, you can fall through the second web without having to put it on fire. Sounded like the skulita skip needed to be redone as well so you could do these both.

Yeah, it would look nice in Hyrule Fields.

Why should he because it desyncs for you and for a few other people? If it works for me and others I absolutely see no reason why he should redo it for that purpose. Burningdeath, thats strange knowing we are using exactly the same plugins and it desyncs for you.
