The ground jump is only used in the Sacred Forest Meadow, like in that video mwl linked. At least, that's the only place I can see in the Wiki route.

There's megajumps and hover boosts as well, which would be quicker and much easier to do with bombs, in Shadow the back flip hover boost is used to cross the pit at the end and the megajump is used in the forest.

Sorry, but what are all the places you use ground jump? Just there? BTW, the WIP desyncs right before the vine. Is it me? Same plugins, same rom, raw data checked...
That happened for me too when I used the save state attached with the movie. But when playing it from the beginning it was fine.

Demanded? HAH! I doubt that anyone even cares...
It was an exaggeration of course. :) But yes, I have had instances where I've spelled words the original way, and had Americans saying "Hey! What's wrong with you! Spell it right!"

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Do you mean they forced people to learn and speak English as opposed to their native languages? Otherwise, I don't see what the problem is. When you take English classes in school, they don't tell you "You can spell 'cat' however you want. E3l is fine." Anyway, I'm really enjoying this run. Nice work, Guano. I can't wait to see you reach the Adult Link point in the game.

This difference between countries talk should be in an off topic general chat forum. I can always tell if something originated from the US because of the spelling of "color" as opposed to colour, spelling color like that may make sence but it sounds different i.e cull-lor as opposed to cull-our. I'm also wondering if "anyways" as opposed to "anyway is" an American spelling as well. Anyway back to the main topic I take it Guano is taking a break from all this, he is about a third of the way through which is something, because I thought he would of given up by now, because I know I would of.

Hi guys. Decided to surf this thread for fun and I have a few questions: 1. It's not entirely clear from the YouTube videos as to how a ground jump is performed. Again...how? 2. The encoded first segment refused to play, even after downloading FFDshow (with h264 encoding and decoding turned on), Mplayer and VLC. Possibly a WMV ftw kthx? *shot* Though I can't see a damn frame of this run (my PC and video card are not powerful enough for Mupen64) this run seems great. I was amazed by TSA's single-segment sub-5 and I can't wait for this to be published. But again, if s/o could convert that first segment to WMV or MPG or even DivX, a thousand thanks to them.

I've never heard the expression "anyway is", and I don't think that's what "anyways" means. I think "anyways" just means "anyway".

I can't watch the WIP at full speed.. The audio will play, but the video won't. If I turn it down to half speed, the video plays fine but the audio won't. I'm pretty sure I have every codec ever ever ever, so I don't know what's going on. Oh well. At least I can watch it.

I have sort of the same problem with that Avi. The video is very jumpy in all of my video players and in some it's even upside down. I know, for certain, that I have the correct codecs as well.

Unless that was sarcasm, I think he meant to have 'is' outside of the quotes. I'm not sure I buy the explanation about spelling/pronounciation. I've never heard someone pronounce colour as "col-ooor" I spell it ou, and pronounce it like Americans do. I think the U sort of adds character. Like how "character" has a silent H. Anyway, hopefully this will be the last said about this so we can get back on topic. Sorry I detracted it in the first place :)

@Ozmodiar / Wren: it's a high resolution video, encoded with an advanced codec at full 60 fps. If your computer can't play the video at full speed, it's likely that your computer is too slow or has misconfigured gfx drivers. Try enabling frame skipping in your video player, if it's supported (mplayer has this option). (It played fine on a 1.5 Ghz Pentium M at 50-60% CPU load, with hardware accelerated video)

I hope the codec figured out that the game actually runs at 20 fps nearly all of the time, and doesn't give media players the impression that they need to update at 60 fps to keep up. (For me, VLC handled it pretty well, but using 90% of the CPU.)

I'm not sure if it did. Here's a small part of the output when I load the movie in mplayer (emphasis added): VIDEO: [h264] 640x480 24bpp 60.000 fps 301.4 kbps (36.8 kbyte/s) Yet another problem :(. I should stop making the AVIs.

The game runs 60fps in menus. You should do the avi in 320x240 instead. It would look better and be faster to play back.

I noticed that with the AVIs I've been downloading, they will have so many late frames that the movie is completely unwatchable. One day, the first segment OoT AVI worked, but I don't know why and I don't know how to replicate it. Please don't stop making the AVIs though, I'm sure a lot of people are enjoying them.

I'd rather have and AVI with the audio and video off, then none at all. I apprieciate the fact that you made this for us less fortunate people who can't even get a WIP to work on our computers

An AVI with the audio and video off? You mean a blank silent screen? That is none at all. :p

Up to Jabu Jabu. I tried for HOURS rolling into him and found out it is a pain in the ass. Ive tried from different angles at different times with different sheers of excitement and I got NOTHING. Im going to continue to jumpslash from the fence because its all I know how to get in. If you want to try and get it, here ya go! http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=AD2C0D0D39101D90 I dont know where the savestate is at but I wouldnt go from the savestate because of desynch issues. I find this roll incredibly hard.

I did warn you. Yautja and TSA are the only ones that have claimed to have done this and they both say it needs to be pixel perfect. Think of it like Sakons hideout in MM but ten times harder. I never pulled this off myself which shows how hard that trick is.

It's pure luck that's required to pull it of. Just stick with jumpslash. ;)

YautjaElder, could you please post a screenshot of the general area you need to roll into (from memory)? That could greatly reduce the amount of time and luck needed.

I'm a little bit embassed to say this but how do you resume recording. I tried frame advance but I couldn't toggle between it and slowdown. Just so I don't confuse I'm in frame advance. Seems pretty smooth Guano, I know that bomerang will be a pain but it and the Barinade battle should be quicker and simplfied. Hopefully it won't take you as long to re-create the bombchu boost, because that was classy and unexpectedly cool.

Did you check the FAQ? In most cases, you make a savestate and then load it after you pass the point while playing back the movie. Make sure it's not on read-only playback, though. So, if I make any more AVIs, should I force it to encode at some other FPS? I mean, if the game runs at 20 FPS, but the menu at 60, wouldn't it still be wrong for one or the other regardless what settings I used?

Note that you don't have to play back the movie past that point to resume there if you already have a savestate there.

There's some "frame decimate" option you can use with .H264. But I don't think anyone will mind if you can just encode at 20 FPS.

I'm pretty sure no one cares if the menus have a lower frame rate...
