you lower the water as a kid by playing the "song of storms" (?) which you usually learn as an adult, right? If there was a way to get this song as a kid before kakariko village, wouldn't that solve all problems? For example, do RBA using the kakariko bottle? unless I missed something (again) the question would be: is there an item for RBA that'll give you the song?

I believe the song of storms is used to enter the well in the first place (read mmbossman's post for when it's played)... which we skip by using those psychotic cuckoos to do a cuckoo dive. it's the zelda's lullabye that raises and lowers the water level in the well itself no? Hence why we'd love to skip it, since getting that song takes a major detour that is no obvious way faster than doing spirit temple early. I'd also like info on the deku+slingshot... specifically in what buttons to press when. I'm a teensy bit lazy and not in the mood (also have classes) to fast forward Guano's .m64 to a point where he does it. (if no one answers by early tonight, I'll just go look at the input myself...)

Nope, you play the song of storms in front of the crazy dude in the windmill, which makes the windmill go faster, which lowers the water.

Comicalflop, all you need to do it press deku stick or slingshot and then just time how you swap it.

I keep getting either swinging with the deku stick, or slingshot goes into first person mode. I guess just watch guano's .m64.... But this is for two purposes I guess... one, to test that door closing cinematic, and two, to get practice should the need arise for me to perform it.

thank you comicalflop. I should have searched for videos first. For anyone sharing my confusion, here are some links: getting into the well without song of storms: using the aggro-cucko cutscene by jumping through walls by jumping through walls + cucko simple Playthrough of the well - note the usage of the lullaby to lower the water inside the well.

All the cucco links either seem to be slow, poorly executed or bad video quality. I'll rectify that Inside the well its best to follow water when playing the lullaby, of course with exception to a 100% run the lens will not be aquired.

So...when is production on the v3 run scheduled to begin? Are we waiting for the pause delay to be fixed in Mupen? Hard resets? More research on bombchus from Kakariko Well? (Even with this, the first 19 minutes or so are unchanged.)

I already did up to the slingshot, Guano is finishing the rest of Deku Tree. We're not waiting for delay to be fixed, since we should be done before work can even be in full swing to fix that. We won't be needing hard resets as much as a 100% run would; deathwarps work just as well. I'm sure Kazooie and Acryte are hard at work in bomchus in the well. And no, the first 19 minutes will not remain unchanged; there's a few changes in the deku tree, some more precision to be made, the owl skip to do, and then we need to figure out before Link embarks at Hyrule Filed on whether or not early well --> bomchus work, because it's the difference between skipping going to Spirit Temple at all or not.

What can I say more than that I eagerly await any progress that this makes. Good luck both of you.

Nice! I'm gonna wait for the AVI, but I'm sure it's great.

Very nice Guano and Comical. Looks like a perfect Deku Tree to me, and good job on the boostin' off the spider. One thing I thought about though, isn't it faster to fall into the water and slide up on land when going down the second web?

That looked great, guys. My only complaint is that you hit the skulltula with the sword. I made a run of the Deku Tree a few months ago, and I was able to roll in the gap between the skulltula and the wall. I'm pretty sure it's faster. Here's the run if you want to see what I mean: http://youtube.com/watch?v=79tgsM-ol2c Everything else looked great to me.

Seemed flawless, is it definitely impossible to get the vine boost by richocheting down to the web the old way? Was it slower to use a deku stick to ricochet off the vines before taking on the scrubs?

damn, I should have rolled. Not jumpslashed. Oh well....I got into Ghomas room with a slashed deku stick and it didnt work.. Maybe I did it wrong. So I just did it the old way. I am at the Village picking up my 2nd or 3rd bird to toss it in the pen. Then off to the well. Comical Flop is going to the Spirit Temple to see time comparisons.

Wouldn't you have to get the lullaby first to do that? since it currently impossible to get bombchus without it to my knowledge.

Ah, that was great. It looked very much improved and all. You know I'll be keenly following this :D Also, if anyone else wants to see it I've recorded an AVI and I'm just about to send MEncoder to work on it's ass. I'll post it here when it's done.

Looked good, Guano. Maybe now that the Deku Tree is just about frame perfect we can be done with it ;) How far can we get now until the route becomes uncertain? Or is the route complete now without any ambiguity? I assume we can at least get through the child portion? EDIT: Ah, my mistake. Good job Guano and ComicalFlop!

Great work so far, I look forward to more progress as it looks very promising. Chances are, with comicalflop also working on this, there will be much more progress than before. Much obliged and good luck with the rest of the run.

I bet if DK64MASTER were reading this, he'd raise an eyebrow or two.

Well yes and no. We're already at an uncertain stage in ambiguity, as to whether getting the lullaby and getting bombcu's from the well early is faster then the Spirit Temple, so we're taking advantage of our co-authoriness and splitting up, each taking the different route to time which one will be faster. Normally, here is the route and it doesn't show too much change in the child section, but we have to check and make sure which way to get bombchus is faster. Ordinarily our route wouldn't change until after Dodongo's, but can't hurt to check with two of us splitting and TASing at the same time.

Guano, if you're getting the lullaby first, have you remembered to use soft block pushes on the blocks at the moat?
