I may have overstated the importance of tags, but to say they're "next to absolutely irrelevant" is just as ignorant.
According to Google search documentation, they very much imply that tags are close to irrelevant. In fact, based on how I understand their documentation, they'll only pay attention to a tag if it's also present in the main text, or in pages linking to it (and in those cases, they're aware of the tag anyway). Based on non-official documentation I've seen, Google will penalize ranking of a particular result if it uses a tag which is not attested in the content or what links to it. Edit:

I just tried this and I get 13 and 7 respectively. Search results are very much tied to Google profiling you, and no two people will necessarily get identical results. Your results say more about you than how Google is handling things as far as tagging goes.

Even better: 10 with the first one, versus just 2 with the second one.

I noticed that our editors have begun work on small parts of the very large GamenamesEditor page, though many fields that could have been filled in with useful information were left blank. So I created this how-to to make it easier for people to understand how to edit this confusing page. I will admit that I previously filled in the Goodtools names incorrectly by entering full ROM names, and this may have caused others to do the same. I believe the way I described in my how-to is the right way to do it though, as otherwise it depends too much on a specific region or ROM version in which the game was released.

Youtube (and google, and facebook etc) search results are filtered. I've checked a few countries, most of them lists 3rd this TAS. Spikestuff's encode gets 1 slot above on german proxies (so it trades slot with the longplay). edit: Spikestuff's temp encode is favoured over the longplay video tested with spanish, french and german proxies but brazil, canada, greek, US ones.

Every video on that account is stolen. Most of the TASes are from this site.

Also, there is people (or bots?) on twitch who are streaming TAS as they own gameplay. Hilarious! Including normal speedruns of other people. Of course they can't stream if speerun with commentary.

Thanks to the hard work of several contributors, all relevant information has been added for the 1624 entries on the Game Names Editor. Every game page is accessible now, and many games have been added to related lists and groups. YouTube tags were also added for every run on the site. See if your search results are similar to mine: https://www.google.com/#q=langrisser+2+tas Genesis Langrisser 2 - 1st result! https://www.google.com/#q=crazy+taxi+tas GC Crazy Taxi - 2nd result (among many other videos which could have come first)

Wow, great job. I'm also surprised, I'm getting the same results as you, which is an incredibly rare thing.

That's great! I got the same results on my smartphone too. I'm hoping this will work for anyone else who searches for our TASes.

I see the same. I wonder if it's possible that someone starts building a final page to navigate by platform/game name.

That's a good idea, feos. Such a page could have separate columns for Platform and Game Name that could be independently sorted in ascending or descending order like the Wiki: MovieMaintenanceLog. I was also thinking it would be fun to add an ID Number column, to be able to see how games entered into the database over time. Maybe even link each ID number to its respective game (description) page (ex: Wiki: 1329G) so they won't clog up Wiki: WikiOrphans anymore.

I imagine it like a page for each platform, simply listing all game name links (in columns, maybe a table), unlike how Game-List does it. More compact view is preferred, it's easier to find what you want, because you can see more on the page. And then, movie modules need links to respective game pages, and game page should have links to groups, and finally, a list of all groups is needed. Sounds like a lot, but I guess we won't need anything else for a really long time.

Yeah, I'd like to see that too. It should be possible to code the pages to take the information from the GNE (like Game-List) too, so no one would have to update them manually.

Yes, definitely! The game pages and groups need a lot more exposure. The links could be put under the encode links or the movie rating link, for example, and read "More about Game #" or "[group] group". This would also make it easier to navigate around the site.
