Comments

It appears nobody has TASed this yet, and for good reason: It's bloody boring. But still, we have the vault now so there's still hope it seems. The game features a cycle of 5 levels which get repeated on 4 increasing difficulties, thus 20 levels total. Each level will be failed if you don't accomplish enough of the goals, with a special bonus awarded at the end for getting all of them. In this run, each level has all goals completed, which are broken down as follows:

Roof Jump

Destroy enough stuff on the way down for victory, destroying everything if you want the best ending. This also includes using all banisters, even though the occasional one could be skipped with proper speed control. Each canopy can be bounced on up to 5 times for extra points, but going straight through is obviously faster.

Car Bumper

Collect enough air canisters to survive the crash, in a car which moves equally fast both straight and diagonal. This means all paths take the same time, so collecting all doesn't really cost any extra time. One exception is during the 4th level, where a bit of backtracking was needed.

Ski Slope

Tag enough poles, while avoiding trees. Fastest means of movement is jumping, followed by going straight, then of course diagonal movement. Jumping is viable if there's huge gaps between poles, so as little diagonal movement as possible is needed here.

Bomb Factory

Get enough safe bombs into the boxes, without packing any lit bombs in. Feel free to smash the bonus parts while you're at it, but nothing too taxing. Super trivial to TAS, thus super boring to watch.

Space Craft

Very easy to reach terminal velocity, and in space there's no friction to slow you down. This means flying to the end just turns into another game of flappy bird, and the only thing needed for the best end to these levels is crashing your vehicle in the vertical position. Super easy to TAS, thus super boring to watch.

turska: Judging.

turska: The bombless courses aren't bad the first time around, but with five similar variants of each the run gets boring quite fast. Accepting for publication in the Vault as the "best ending" branch, which is Vault eligible.

Wow... now THAT was a nostalgia bomb. I proudly owned this game as a child, and played it quite often, honestly. I remembered the levels just by the descriptions you gave, but I actually forgot how good the soundtrack is, haha. Anyway... watched it all, and I was VERY impressed and entertained. Yes vote. :]

It was.....okish. While I liked how the character moves with the music at times, it's just way too long for a game like this. Oh, and here's a temp encode to speed judging a bit: Link to video

Hey, this wasn't as bad as I feared from a game made entirely out of repeated bonus games. The first two days of each week (the building dive and the car crash) were pretty cool. The fourth (the bomb factory) is fairly boring, but I actually liked the ship piloting. The third day was alright; it never lasted too long. I think the game is fine if watched in segments, but it gets long when watched all at once. It's probably one of the technically simpler LJN games, and it seems less poorly designed ;-) I'd say Meh vote.
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.

turska: I thought you were going to publish it.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.
