Regarding consistency of branch names, I found a handful of others...

Thanks for listing all of those, especially Super C, since that affected some current publications. By the way, if 1 player is fastest for that game, should this movie simply be relabeled "pacifist"?

Though I wonder if the titles of the YouTube videos and on the submissions will be changed too...
Warning: Might glitch to credits I will finish this ACE soon as possible (or will I?)

I think so, yes.

Masterjun: YouTube videos' titles, at least on TASVideosChannel, are updated automatically just like the movie descriptions. Submissions aren't, but branch names are usually changed from those upon publication anyway (and even game names sometimes), so I wouldn't worry about those. Radiant: Thanks, it has been fixed.

Quick question: Does "2 player" or "2 players" sound more correct as a branch name?

"2 players", imho. Or "two players" if you want to spell it out :P

Haha, I think I'll just go with "2 players" like the movie tag. Thanks! Oh, and another question: Should movies that were made before a game-breaking glitch was discovered, like [310] NES Battletoads "warps, 1 player" by Phil & Genisto in 13:27.98, [42] NES Kirby's Adventure by Bisqwit in 44:24.17, and [1073] SNES Super Metroid by hero_of_the_day in 39:32.80 be labeled "no memory corruption", "no stone glitch", and "no X-Ray glitch" if those runs were any% at the time?

I believe it makes most sense to keep branches consistent in naming; we know these runs don't count as any% now, so it would be clearest to rename them "no <foo> glitch". This is similar to how, if a new and faster branch is created for a movie currently named any%, we should rename the existing branch.

Thanks Radiant! Knowing that allowed me to fix the rest of the movies that needed fixing.

I have removed "no warp glitch" from [2440] SNES Contra III: The Alien Wars "pacifist" by McBobX in 14:05.31. For one, it is impossible to do the warp glitch in a pacifist movie, since doing the warp requires killing enemies. Also, there is no pacifist movie with the warp glitch, so it seems redundant. Discuss.

Makes sense to me. Thanks for fixing that. And yes, the correct place to put "no warp glitch" would be before "pacifist" if it needed to be noted at all. I made a small edit to that movie's description to note that it also avoids the warp glitch (you can change it if it doesn't sound right).

It looks like the branch name of [1114] NES Zelda II: The Adventure of Link "warpless" by Rising_Tempest & Inzult in 47:57.05 has been changed to spell out "no zipping, no out of bounds". It's not only too long now but it makes me realize my original wording didn't quite sound right. I'm going to set it to "no zipping, no unintended exits", but someone let me know if something else would sound better. Also, we still have the Pokémon Blue run with a branch name that a couple of people had issue with. Is "no HoF warp" (meaning Hall of Fame) okay, or would that need to be spelled out too, which would make it too long of a branch name?

Speaking of Pokemon, when will [564] GBC Pokémon: Gold Version by FractalFusion in 2:54:27.15 get obsoleted by the current run? It's been a while since I've pointed out why it should, but the movie still seems to be as a seperate, unvaultable branch. :o

These two movies should still have the "2 players" tag, http://tasvideos.org/105M.html and http://tasvideos.org/17M.html What is the restriction on branch name lengths, and is it feasible to ask the site admins to make it a bit longer?

I changed it to "no glitch warps" for now.

It was not intended to be obsoleted. In fact, [564] GBC Pokémon: Gold Version by FractalFusion in 2:54:27.15 should have been moved to Moons. I have now moved it to Moons.

They both have the movie class "One player in a multiplayer game". I don't know if they need a tag (you mean branch name?) or not.

At the risk of repeating myself, I just don't understand this logic. Why should the TAS have been moved to Moons? Did it suddenly become more entertaining? I agree that the routes are so different that they warrant different categories. However, the category of the slower run is unvaultable, and its (lack of) entertainment value makes it unmoonable (not my judgment, the community's). The only solution is for your run to be an obsolete any% run, which then allows it to take its place in the Vault.

Nach writes in the submission text of the glitched Pokemon Gold TAS:

Regarding this run's relationship to the fuller run, I've considered this as an obsoletion for it. However, that other run seems to actually play through the whole game instead of skipping most of it via various glitches. Therefore I do not think this should obsolete it. We'll need to come up with some name for that run to reflect its full state, and I'm currently accepting this run as the standard any% run.
Therefore, the glitched Pokemon Gold TAS is judged not to obsolete the old one. Since the old one was originally in Vault, and the new one now exists, the old one must be moved to Moons to preserve Vault rules. We have required some publications to be in Moons regardless of rating (including publications previously in Vault moving to Moons) because they cannot be placed in Vault without breaking the rules. With regard to these publications, lack of entertainment value does not make a publication "unmoonable". Regarding retroactive obsoletion, I have thought about the issue for a while but I think that the use of retroactive obsoletion may open up a can of worms.

Thank you very much for doing something about that run, FractalFusion. And thanks for coming up with a branch name for the Pokémon Blue run! Though, I'm thinking "no glitched warps" would sound just a little better; what do you think? The next order of business is deciding on branch names for the slower Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island runs. They are currently labeled "no memory corruption" because it was thought that the any% runs corrupted memory (to save time), but apparently neither does. The challenging part of this is deciding on a branch name that rules against both of the known game-breaking glitches for each game (brown platform glitch and stun glitch for SMW, L+R glitch and egg glitch for YI) in a single phrase. Otherwise, we would have to use "no x glitch, no y glitch" for both movies.

Both of the SMW 'brown platform glitch' and 'stun glitch' TASes have common properties: -They execute OAM data as code -They trick the game into doing unexpected operations on sprites (null sprite spit in one, stunning a sprite that shouldn't be stunnable in the other) As for SMW2: -First you have null egg glitch -> credits call any%, where you use having a null sprite in your inventory to grab and mess with the properties of sprites around you, and then do a TAS-only credits call. -Then you have L+R any%, where L+R can be used to skip many levels. -Then you have null egg glitch any%, you can do things like grab the ending cutscene of 1-8 and bring it to every level to finish them without doing them properly. Since any% doesn't do all levels (it skips the extra levels from 100%ing the main levels of each world), and a glitchy any% (null egg glitch any% with no credits call) would 'do all main levels' but skip tons of them using null egg magic, I think the only way to slice it is - define it by the two very different glitches it doesn't do. any% no L+R, no null egg glitch.

Thanks for your insight, Patashu. I don't suppose "no sprite glitches" would work for SMW, would it? I'm not sure if goal storage (used in the slower run) counts as a sprite glitch. And if that's the only way to go with Yoshi's Island, then I'll go ahead and change it to "no L+R, no null egg glitch". Oh, thanks FractalFusion!

Eating a chuck is clearly a sprite glitch - it's doing an operation on a sprite the game isn't equipped to handle (morally equivalent to stunning a normally unstunnable sprite, etc)
