Yeah, i'm working in this, somehow, the levels doesn't change anything in the character's status (because there is no status) and you have to see the Guru at the Church after a determined amount of experience to advance...great waste of time, the weapons does change your status, and you sure need the gold to buy them. I'm trying to get the gold in the dungeons when it's almost impossible to evade fighting, and by killing the bosses, i'm at 7:26 and already revived the three fountains, however, i'm redoing it again because i know i can save some seconds with a little more planning about what keys take with me and when O_o

Status only determines how much gold you start with, if you use a code.

Yes, it's nearly impossible to jump over most enemies, and running through them oftentimes pushes you backwords anyway. The biggest amounts of time you can save are probably at the three fountains, in the misty lands, and in the final castle. For each, if you use winged boots properly, you should be able to cut down on travel time by a bit. Aside from flying (or knowing how to fall properly) in those three areas, and buying keys in advance, I'm not sure what else you can do to save time.

You can get the full plate for free by reaching a certain level and talk to a man in the last mist town. I do not remember the details though.

I started working on this last weekend, but was more for my personal entertainment and somehow my replay got broken and I was less than inclined to fix it. I got dagger, deluge, and 3 j keys in the first town and then blitz'd through the mattock and everything to the next town. Pick up the sword and the winged boots and a queen key. Go hit the fountain in the sky first (so you get the joker key without having to enter the dungeon twice). Then blitz through the fountains like normal. The next thing I was going to look up was how necessary parts of the mist level are, looks like some of those items just halves damage and doubles attack. Hope that's helpful

This won't help you now, but if you spend the 1500 gold you get from the King at the start, and go back to him when you have 0, he'll give you 1500 more. A great way to start, even though it is too late for that. You should stock up on Wing Boots for further in the game (especially the castle), since it can be priceless. Also note, that you can jump over the normal dragon's fireballs if you are level with him. ALSO note that in the castle, the transformed dwarf king doesn't shoot fireballs if you use an hourglass. There's many ways for free money and what-not in this game, you just gotta know where to look!

This game was pretty awesome :) I did try for a good playing time quite a while back (purposely without the gold trick at the beginning). Forgot a lot of things but.. some tips I have are: Buy wing boots to fly through many areas. You shouldn't need to exp that much, but gold will be a problem if you want to buy a good sword. I don't know if its faster with or without a good sword, but i ended at about 1hr playing time (no saves) buying the second strongest sword (a bunch of time was spent collecting money :/) See the Church guru only if you want to restart at that church when you die (there is only one place I know when you're playing where this is useful to speeding up your time) On another note, I'm not sure whether you just have to enter the church or actually have to talk with him to restart at the church.. I guess you can save a bunch of time if its only that you have to enter the church. Test it out and see. In the segment I mentioned above where you die to speed up your time, optimize the speed of death by getting hit a lot on the way to that critical item so you can die quickly after retrieving it. (I can't remember the item's name but i remember its a dead end where you have to walk a long ways back). I had too much life after beating the mini-boss(?) monster guarding the item and ended up running around trying to get hit by little monsters for a while... :/ Plan carefully which and how many items to carry with you. I ran out of space many times until I planned it out carefully (then again I was carrying a couple of red potions most of the time to keep me alive). Fire magic (? can't remember if it was this one) can push mini bosses back, so in combination with your sword, you can beat them incredibly fast with a corner trap. Well, good luck with it.. I had quite a time mapping out all the shop prices, gold to collect, places to fly, and places to die. I can only wonder how fast you can get it to :)

I'm also currently working on this game. I've gone through it a couple of times and looking into fastest possible times for defeating bosses. As it was mentioned before, this game does require a significant amount of money, but there are a lot of shortcuts to getting it. If you're working on this game as well, pm me to discuss. -NV

The best way to get money in the beginning (when you have no rank) is to kill the wyvern (first boss). He gives you 720 gold and you can do this repeatedly. Later on, when you reach about the "Hero" rank or higher, it is better to spend your money, die, then resurrect with a fresh supply. However, I'm interested in seeing if anybody has found any major glitches in the game to be exploited. I've been messing around with items and getting hit with monsters in certain places, etc., but to no avail. Has anyone found something else? -NV

I used to play this game quite often, and I seem to remember the game's programming to be pretty tight. Short of the 1500 gold gllitch in the beginning (which I dont see as very usefull for a speed run), I cant think of any glitches at all. But I'll try to find some to help you out, because I too would love to see a speed run of this wonderful game. Dude, that tree is really, really, huge.
