koeiprogenitor finished his TAS of this today (or rather, uploaded the final part) and I noticed there wasn't an existing thread. It can all be watched on his mylist. I think it's a really entertaining run, definitely worth watching :)

This is because he shows cutscenes, I think.

Seems that way, but I guess he wanted to show off more of the game. He did more missions but I think every mission is done faster than the SDA run. The aim of the TAS is unclear but it's really fun to watch anyway.

I used to run this game and I watched first two parts. This TAS was really boring, and for most of it it doesn't even look like a TAS. It uses very bad strats, the route is really old and level of optimization is minimal. I would call it a tool assisted let's play and I don't really recomend watching it. But the game has been mentioned and I have a question. Is there any way to currently TAS this game. PSCX2-rr sucks and Hourglass doesn't support mouse. If TASing this game will become possible, I can help for sure :)

He is hours slower than the SDA record due to letting all cut scenes play on purpose and playing all the missions. From what I watched there was some obviously tool-assisted moments, though I doubt it is super optimal. But either way, I love watching it and it is bad ass. And I really really want to TAS this game!

I also badly want to TAS this game, because I have seen some of the GTA Stunting League movies on YT, and I think there are a lot of TAS only shortcuts waiting to be explored.

http://code.google.com/p/progenitor/ This seems to be what the guy is using to tas. There is no binary available. If anyone gets it compiling, please provide a binary! I haven't tried to get it working yet, though I keep meaning to...

It seems to be based off version 0.9.6 just like the -RR fork. I am slowly working on checking if it's worth attempting to fork a more recent version of the emulator. But since this will take some time as I am planning on verifying that the state of the CPU and all the help-cores is solid enough. I can throw up a build of this emulator in the meantime, I will attempt to build it later tonight.

Yeah, been watching this TAS for a while now. It's about the same as GTA3, maybe a bit higher quality. He does all the main storyline missions and that is why it's slower. In a proper run you'd just do pole position, vercetti, taxi, ice cream, sunshine, checkpoint charlie and printworks. A real any% TAS could be really interesting due to crazy luck manipulation possibilities with sunshine & cherry poppers. What has been shown though is a real good taste of the possibilities that can be done.. I mean.. Riding the car during the phone call already did it for me :) If someone is interested on running GTA3 / VC, feel free to ask about stuff as I have been running GTA3 for a while now (Possibly SS WR at the moment) and I am slowly getting in to VC with only about 10-15min behind K9's time. There are a lot of small things that should be noted while running. I really want to see this thing compiled & working :)

OK. I watched the whole run and I must say there is some very impressive stuff in later parts, too bad the beginning wasn't that great. There are some great strats, maybe some of them will be used when someone will run 100%. Too bad I didn't see any improvements for any%. I can't wait 'till somebody will start doing any% TAS, it will be really hard to make, but amazing to watch.

They are so similar I figure it's okay to keep them in the same thread for the time being. It's like TASing two Editions of Pokémon.
