What happens if 2 (or more) winning entries are tied at the end of the polling stage? Second poll with those entries only?

No, they both win, like N64 TAS of 2010 last year (it went to SM64 "0 star" and OoT any%) and NES TAS of 2011 this year (Battletoads and SMB2 "warpless").

Guess its going to be that time of the year where I need to find awards icons and replace 2010 with 2011? Or did I was enought smart to make 2011 in advance? Do we have something already for "first edition" thing? I assume the new categories are arcade and computer, maybe a cabinet for arcade and a keyboard/screen for computer ?

I don't know. :-)

1st edition was present in 2010.

All categories are listed in the first post. Arcade isn't new category, computer is Two of three platforms in 'computer' were in 'new platforms' last year, one is new.

Can this work for a Computer category? Or will Microsoft get mad at us?

Im not sure if they will get mad lol, but yeah I was thinking to something similar, Ill try to look into icons before the 23th. Edit: Ilari, when I was asking about if I did the 2011 beforehand, it meant if I did then adelikat should have them, had to reinstall few times this year so ill have to crawl in the darkness of some archives to find em.

How about something found in this search? https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=computer+case+icon

Sprites (pixels), pictures dont fit well into a 30x30 sprites (pixels). The thing Warepire posted is what we want (i think?), should have no problem to find a linux one or something like that, just to avoid worry about licenses. More worried about what we really want, like I was asking, just a keyboard? a mouse? a screen? everything together?

I posted what I posted because it shows some pixel art icons of computer cases, which I think would be ideal for the PC award.

I'd be inclined to go with keyboard+mouse for the Computer icon, since they're really about the only constants in terms of what computers look like. But I recognize that would be harder to find than a generic computer case.

It may be difficult to come up with a distinctive icon because we might want to distinguish between PC/Mac games and so-called "home computers" (such as C64, Spectrum, Amstrad...), which have their own games and history, and also have keyboards (usually connected to a TV). A mouse is pretty much unique to a PC (with the exception that the Commodore Amiga also had a mouse, IIRC, and it might be possible that in the future if we TAS Amiga games, we might want to make a distinction; OTOH Amiga had a distinctive logo that could be used to distinguish it as an icon). Perhaps a mouse icon would be enough. It would also better fit the size of these award icons.

All winners are now announced (in the thread-starting post) Currently waiting for award images to be uploaded and will then add the awards to the database. EDIT: Also award categories are hardcoded into site code (instead of being in the database), so also waiting for changes to be deployed.

I don't think a mouse would currently be fitting, considering that none currently-published TASes of computer games use mice.

The icon represents the system, not the game.

A mouse isn't a necessary controller for the system. Using a mouse for the PC icon would be almost like using a zapper for the NES icon.

Keyboard? That's pretty classical computer input device (yes, I know that some consoles can use that as well, but it is much rarer).

I still think a PC tower case is most representative of the system. Of course, most PCs were horizontal a long time ago, but the ATX mid tower or full tower case is almost standard among PCs nowadays, making it an easily-identifiable icon.

All current-generation consoles support placing them vertically. I wonder if it could cause confusion. (And as I said earlier, a keyboard might be confusing if we one day start TASing C64, Amiga, Amstrad, Spectrum...)

I guess for those we may use their logos, while we can't use Windows logo. I suggest to use that for this year and think about future computers when they get the award, not now. EDIT: DOS games use mouse too.

Why everything is doubled? I have only one "NES TAS 2011" award XD http://tasvideos.org/Awards/2011.html Or is it just me?

I screwed up the DB work a bit. I have since corrected it, but the incorrect data is cached and I can't flush it.

There also seem to be missing a few awards like N64 TASer and TAS of the year. Computer TAS is also missing, I think.
