Couldn't find a topic for this game, even though there is a current run for it by jlun2. Just wanted to say I am improving his movie. I've collected the spring shoes and am 123 frames (2.04 seconds) ahead. Link to video Or, the vbm: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1406732877/lotlsWIP1.vbm If you want more info on the new glitch (Happens at about 0:37 and again at 0:41) just post!

Thanks for making this topic, NitroGenesis. I wondered why there wasn't one yet. This is a run I made that enters a debug password to unlock everything, including Level Select, and then warps into Dutch Under and beats the game in barely over a minute (1:00.88). It uses jlun2's current fastest route, which includes NitroGenesis' glitch. Of course, I won't submit this, but it was something I really wanted to try and I hope someone finds it interesting. Here it is on YouTube.

For the route you sent me in the PM, I'm not sure if it would save (much) time, as shouldn't the amount of weapon switching stay (around) the same?

Well, for the Undersea Desert, we will already have the spring shoes equipped, plus the To Outer Town sign is closer to the cave than the To Sandy's Park sign. Here's my WIP: http://www.mediafire.com/?alish9a1xttpoqs I pressed A to enter Outer Town on frame 4633 and pressed A to enter the Undersea Desert on frame 5009.

I will do Undersea Desert including Hot Sauce Bandito. jlun2, what parts of the run would you like to do?

I think I'll do Kelpazoic Jungle. Is the game edit-friendly? Because we can then splice in the input after doing our parts. :)

I'll do The Carnival, and maybe Dutch Under and the post-Flying-Dutchman battle (since I've already improved by 5 frames in jumping to the Golden Spatula).

If not, we can always post each finished level for the next author to take care of. Meaning, when NitroGenesis finishes, he can post his movie for jlun2, and when he's done, he can post it for me to continue. How does that sound?

*For Future Reference* * While glitching, holding "B" while autofiring "A" is faster than just autofiring "A". That is, until Spongebob's in mid-air. * It takes around 9 frames of movement for Spongebob to slide once he jumps with the spring shoes equiped. * Sometimes, you can move/turn if you hold onto that direction right before the game fades to black. * When moving horizontally, walking for at least 2 frames before jumping is faster than jumping without moving. * Doing an action that does not relate to jumping/walking (throwing a patty, blowing bubbles, etc) can be used to avoid taking damage. * Moving platforms can be manipulated by jumping at a different height. * When leaping vertically, moving for 1 frame is better than 2. BTW, Here's the WIP done up to the Outer Town. It reaches it 13 frames faster.

but if you're in midair and doing the glitch you can let go of B and still have the same yspeed

I wish every TAS had this level of competition/cooperation. That new WIP is damn well done.

Well, I'm on vacation for another week and a half, but my laptop just died (so I have no computer). If jlun2 finishes Kelpazoic Jungle in the next few days and incorporates the improvements he made, I will be able to do The Carnival (whenever I can).

CoolKirby, here's your version of the UnderSea Desert, but with my 47 frame improvement to it. I think it can be improved.

I'll go and fix it now.

Oh! Sorry! I thought it was CoolKirby since he sent me a PM that he removed 24 frames by the end of UnderSea Desert. Which, I misunderstood as "redoing" instead of "splicing". Oops!

The 24 frames he saved were in Outer Town, he made no changes to my input.

I didn't modify NitroGenesis' input at all, but since I don't know how to splice or hex or anything like that, I just copied all of NitroGenesis' input into a new movie. That might explain my wording in saying "redoing" or "revising". EDIT: Just downloaded TAS Movie Editor, so now I don't have to hand-copy every frame of input to a new movie.

CoolKirby sent me a 3 frame improvement; I improved it by ~5 more frames. This led me to think that there might be a possible improvement in the UnderSea Desert. MicroStorage.

jlun2, when do you think you will start on Kelpazoic Jungle?

I think he was trying to manipulate an enemy in Kelpazoic Jungle earlier but wasn't able to. Maybe with all the frames we've saved, he can manipulate the enemy now (just an idea, he didn't give any more information on this enemy or what he needs to manipulate). I'll be ready to splice in The Carnival when jlun2 finishes Kelpazoic Jungle. NitroGenesis, should I do To The Carnival (before The Carnival) and To Jellyfish Fields (after The Carnival)? If so, I can start working on that tomorrow (from a savestate). EDIT: I sent him a PM yesterday asking the same question but he still hasn't responded.

Sorry for being gone for a week. But my computer died. Anyway, here's the WIP; If you find an improvement, feel free to edit the input.

I'm going to Maine for a few dayz. CoolKirby can do Carnival and I'll finish Jelly Fish Fields, the last part I will do. I think that maybe Coolkirby's trick could save a few frames there.

It's great to hear you're still working on this, jlun2! I'm off vacation now, so I'll check for improvements in your WIP and then start on The Carnival. NitroGenesis, if it would save you some trouble, I can do the jumping from The Carnival to Jellyfish Fields. EDIT: I managed to save 16 frames in Kelpazoic Jungle. It took a long time to make because every small (2-4 frame) improvement caused in an enemy later in the level to move in the way and kill SpongeBob. I still haven't done The Carnival yet, but I'll post the WIP for NitroGenesis once I've done up to Jellyfish Fields.

OK, here it is, NitroGenesis! It's done up to Jellyfish Fields. I'm really bad at optimizing Sandy's Park, especially with spring shoes on. It's most likely improvable, so feel free to save frames from it. EDIT: I was directing this at NitroGenesis since he will be doing Jellyfish Fields, but jlun2 is of course free to improve my input too. Sorry for not being clear.

I know your comment wasn't directed to me, but I took the opertunity and saved 2 more frames. There might be more, so I'll post the WIP later. Edit: 20 frames saved.
