oh, you did a normal double jump, why not an UP, UP, CROSS double jump? right after beating the first boss and using the hook, you’re pressing RIGHT, but like you’ve shown me in that list of moves there’s a faster way to turn: DOWN+RIGHT; also, it looks like you fell for a moment when walking towards the window-exit, that probably lost time so you should avoid it edit: your strategy for the beginning is still bad, the TAS in the first post is faster up to the boss, that UP, UP, CROSS jump it does on the roof is faster than just walking like you do

The double jump cover a bigger distance than the other one. With the moonsault, you cannot reach this roof (in best case, you hang up).

You know the worst.... I just miss that point O_O (/me sneak under a stone). I now have to check all levels :D (just joking, as I can remeber, the only other level where I turn without moving is the level 3 and I even though have to do it again). About other points, you're right. I just wanted to make a quick test with this double jump. (In fact, it's a fall when I walk toward the window; the roof has a strong slope so it's an illusion). I think I can now make the last version of the level 1; combining a quick hook as possible, double jump, quick turn... 57 seconds possible?... :)

And here is the level 8. Lots of grappling hook... Brings me headaches :/. Just for information, in a single-segment context, it's possible to safe about 100 frames but I can't do this because it's typical for only one layout; and with this layout, I obtain "Novice" rank; even I manipulate the RNG, it seems to be impossible to get 1 ligthfoot scroll. So, a between 10 and 15 seconds loss in the end level. Link to video Got a question. I made each level individually. For the level 1 (for example), 1 made 6 different versions before making something cool. By version, I ear creating a new movie file from the beginning of the level. For the final rerecord, should I add rerecord for only final level version or for my whole try? In my own opinion, I'd sum everything. Making a new version can be assimilated as rerecording from the beginning. What do you think about?

yes, you can sum everything, but… I’ve got bad news for you I played the first level unassisted, only using savestates, and on my second try I got 57 seconds; your TAS is still bad :/ edit: I made a vid

It's not a bad new. It's a good news ! :) I was sure it was perfictible ! I've got the proof now ! Opposing to appereance, this level is quite tricky and to be honest, I was not satisfy of my last version. Well done !!!! Back to work. Level 1 and 5 targeted ! EDIT I got it !

no fucking way, that skip actually works?!? O_o by the way, I found this out a while ago but I thought you already knew but I guess not, you can place a mine on the ground at the same time a boss attacks you, the mine will explode and the boss will be hit full force by it, but you only take damage for the boss’s attack and not the mine, I think this should be helpful against some bosses (maybe Onikage in level 9) it happened to me against the first level 4 boss when playing normally

You can also make the mine explode by hitting it with an attack (I didn't test all but it's sure for the crouch attack); it's possible to make it explode and receive no damages (but the ennemy will take full damages). I knew this trick (I accidentally use it in the level 7, brings some entertainment^^) but doest it really safe time? In certain way, yes as you aren't bump by the explosion, in another way, time is spent for placing it + recovery... Maybe I'll have to use it versus the last boss. To be tested :)

Last WIP. This time, we beat the level 9. Link to video You can also download the *.pjm file here. Hope you enjoy. Every comments are welcomed :) Note about some points:
  • Level 3: I choose using a mine because the explosion makes the bear move... Which can is unexpected as it's shown in the cutscene :D (and I'm not shuriken is faster)
  • Level 8: I take some damage to force the guard moving and fall. I didn't found a better way to deal with him. And I don't know why he don't fall opposite to my first try in this level.
  • Level 9: Onikage gets 100% parry chance if you do the same twice consecutively. I've had to deal with it. Furthermore, if he jump over the low wall behind him, the fight will be very harder and takes seriously more time :/. And it's worst if he falls in the stairs.
EDIT Found an enhanced versions of the tricks mentionned by Alaktorn (the double-jump) tonight. In fact, you can jump infintly while you don't hit the ground! Awesome !!!! Possible use in the level 5 and 7. I need to check if I can get faster. It will be very cheaty if we can find a way to get higher with this "Infinite Air Jump" :p *dreaming*

Working on a "Minimalist+ Stealth" run. The idea is to avoid using items (Minimalist), avoid using grappling hook(Minimalist+: Because this item is special, you cannot unequipped it), avoid being spotted by guards (Stealth). I show the score screen at the end of each level because the HUD in bottom left isn't reliable; if you're spot by an innocent or a beast, it doesn't count for "Ranking". The main goal is just fun. The use of the infinite jump glitch makes not using the grappling hook considerably less impressive, IMO.

I want show a bug when kill boss I found when I played on console longtime ago. Hmm I want ask a question? How about if I make this demo version? Is it allow? The demo version have stages same with release version, just difference with bugs It's ok if demo version isn't allow, because japan version is shorter with US Version, possible beat the current record time. And I showed skip intros faster current run The main problem is I'm not good at optimize the run. I'll happy if Hâthor help me about optimal verything :)

Ok here my run stage 1 on J official version 1.0. With faster selections, skip sub-boss by J version, I was faster 3146 frames with current run Hmm I don't know with quick turn or my run + turn when first time standing on roof, what's faster? I'm not good optimize in 3D games :( Link to video

your beginning was terrible, I think you used the hook too slowly (moved too much to the left with it), and the positioning of it was also wrong because you had a “hard” landing instead of a “soft” one which is faster check out my unassisted run where I get a soft landing and I think I have a faster hook by not aiming left: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9jT3Jp63vs (if you need to aim more to the left, try running to the left and then shooting straight instead of running straight and then shooting left) after the infinite dash jumps glitch, you go straight and do 2 more (I think that’s good), then you enter the house thing with a roll and fall into the hole simply by running into it, you sure that’s the best strategy? I don’t know if doing a dash jump or simply running is better than the roll when entering in, but I think doing a dash jump into the hole is faster, try that I think the boss fight should also be improvable, I remember that you can hit the enemy with the sword at the same time the bomb hits them, and that lets you continue the combo without them falling back away from the bomb’s blast also, are you sure it’s fastest to do the dash jump ASAP, instead of a few frames after the dash? maybe the initial dash speed is slightly faster than the jump, but I don’t know because I’ve never tested it with TAS; this would probably require RAM Watch to see the speed address to optimize correctly I should probably watch the published run again to remember a few tricks too… if you’re gonna TAS the game then I’ll try to help you by watching the WIPs, good luck edit: by the way, did you pick the hardest difficulty? I can’t tell because it goes by too fast

You can find RAM easily using this guide: http://tasvideos.org/MemorySearch.html Find the address for higher/lower axis (call it Y) by jumping, asserting it just raised, landing, asserting it lowered, and repeating until you find it. (Or try doing it in the opposite direction - Y might be lower at higher elevations for example, so you need to try both ways) Then look at the memory addresses surrounding Y position and you'll usually find X and Z position nearby and maybe even more useful things!

Here's my new WIP, improved 70 frames: - save 1 frame when select item - new way with reduced air jumps http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/15993284323696207 but a problem came out. The time for start stage is changed, then lucky changed. A enemy catched me then I don't have grand master rank. The next stage I don't have boost run item Then I think must do "slower is faster" :D
