Hi all, first of all: I'm not sure if this is the right forum or if it even belongs in the TASVideos forums. If not, no hard feelings, I'll ask somewhere else. I just figured people here might know about this topic. Alright, on to my story: I want to make maps for the NES game Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, just like I did for Star Wars (IV). Not really a problem, except for the inaccessible parts of the map. In Level 5 you can get a Force power that enables you to levitate, which is extremely useful for this except for two things: (1) you can't get it before Level 5 and (2) you have limited Force power so you can't use it forever and ever. GameGenie.com has some GG codes for the game, such as "always have light saber" but no "always have levitate" or "unlimited force power", so it would be nice if I could "make" these cheats myself, aka find the memory addresses that hold the force power amount and which force powers you possess. Unfortunately, I have no experience with this so I would like some help. I read the old FCEU help file on Cheats and saw the RAM Search in FCEUX. In theory, I could use it to see which address changes when you pick up a "Force refill" or a new Force power, but there's 64KB of memory which is pretty much impossible to track. So, my real question is: how do people do this? How do you keep track of 64KB of memory when all you want is one or two values?

Adelikat made this video tutorial on how to find RAM addresses. Check that out and hopefully it answers your question or at least clarifies some things.

Oh wow, thanks for that! It was very helpful in clarifying how to use the cheat search/RAM watch/RAM search :) I was able to find what I was looking for, but I wouldn't mind finding some more stuff that is helpful for any future TASes (X/Y value etc.) I noticed the Game Resources page only has information on a few games. Would there be an interest in information about this game?

I think that any good info on any game in the game resources section would be appreciated.

I have sent a message to adelikat (either to become an editor or to post it on the forum) and will share my findings shortly.
