Yeah - and he doesn't actually finish the game(s).

No, he was talking about #1903: Sticky's Genesis Barney's Hide and Seek in 00:02.75. Sorry for the Hide and Seek thing off-topic, then. Edit: Nevermind, I misread Patashu's post.

Megaman 1 and 2 are actually, mostly, the same game. A different memory mapper and some enhancements, but mostly the very same code. Megaman 3 had a different engine, and Megaman 6 had a different engine. I don't know about Megaman 4-5 versus the others.

I think that Mega Man 5's engine could be a modified version of Mega Man 4's. A lot of the RAM addresses in MM4 and MM5 are similar. For example, the x/y coordinates and velocity for on-screen sprites are in the same memory address (0310-040F), the color palette is in the same memory address (0600-063F), the randomness generators, and the music/sound effects generators. Another thing that's interesting is that the weapon you get from stage 00 (Bright Man and Gravity Man) of both games has the same color scheme: white (color #20) and purple (color #14).

If you are going to TAS a million games at once, it may be more interesting to have as many different games as possible, for variety. The ideal sort of game to go into a multitas would be something that has many possible routes, items you could skip, or not, warps you could skip, or not, glitches you could exploit, or not, as needed by your time requirements. For example, it should be feasible to get Zeldas 1 and 2, most of the Megamen, the Lolos, Blaster Master, Bubble Bobble, Dragon Warrior, Metroid, Punch-Out!, SMB3, etc. to all end at very nearly the same time without artificial periods of waiting or inactivity. If you are aiming for 9 games, I think I would probably vote for something like ... 2x Megamen, 2x Zelda (perhaps both the first and second quest of LoZ?), a Lolo, SMB3, Metroid, Tetris (just playing around without dying the entire time), and Dragon Warrior. A multitas with that level of breadth and depth would be absolutely breathtaking.

I disagree. The moment a Zelda game is involved, is the moment the run is complete garbage. The initial idea is kickass and I'd gladly follow progress.

Bump! :) So I spoke with the hackmaster Kennyman666, and I came to the conclusion that Fisty will be tasing the following games through one input: Mega Man 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, Mega Man Mushroom Kingdom (all super mario bros stages :D), Mega Man - Wily's Dream Space and.... Mega Man - Gray Zone :) I have been away from tasing too long now. It is time to hit this! Wish me luck :)

And for those not in the know, Mega Man in the Mushroom Kingdom is a MM1 hack, Gray Zone is a MM2 hack and Wily's Dream Space is a... MM5 hack. Yes, someone actually made MM5 hack. The fact that it's not MM1 or MM2 was the entire reason I suggested it for this project in the first place. Also, of course, because it's actually a GOOD hack.

I'm not sure why you didn't just do MM 1-8 + Rockman & Forte. Edit: Nevermind, I guess you can't do it cross system. Still...I hope those are high quality hacks to constitute a run of them, but I haven't played them so I guess I can't judge.

Currently, there is no way for a single file to play NES, SNES, and PSX all at the same time.

For Gray Zone route planning: You get Item-1 from Quick Man, Item-2 from Flash Man and Item-3 from Metal Man. Will check things about Wily's Dream Space this weekend, probably.

Thanks for the info man. But like I said, Baxter and I had a few times difficulty staying alive in our quadruple run. So I feel that it doesn't matter much which boss gives Item 1, 2 or 3. My main goal is to complete this without dying. So boss order is a main priority :)

I already told you, Mushroom Kingdom has the same weaknesses as the original game - however, Cut Man's room has no blocks to pick up with the Super Arm, so you can't use that there. The magnet beam is lying out in the open in Elec Man's stage, no blocks in the way. You don't actually need it to beat the game, though.

So, two notes about Gray Zone: Turns out Flash Man actually takes more damage from Metal Man's weapon, and Crash Man's pattern is far easier than I first figured, so he'd probably work well as a first boss too. But since you get Item-1 from Quick Man, it might be a better idea.
