EDIT: OK, so I saved 4 frames in the Prologue, but those frames were eventually lost through loading screens in the beginning of Chapter 1, so I ended up saving 0 frames total. Well, the Prologue looks a little different now, but anyway, this means I can continue working on Chapter 1!
I got an idea. Add delay frames right before the loading screens to find out the frame rule, so in the future, if you managed to save 'x' amount of frames, but those frames are within the frame rule, you can use them to do something entertaining without losing time.

I've been tasked with this encode, and I'm a bit confused about the ending. I got the run to sync and what I see in my emulator matches http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wgv2BWJ8oP0 but after the movie ends you're just dropped back at the map screen. Is there no "the end" with credits for this submission? That would match http://tasvideos.org/1479M.html but I just want to be sure before I encode.

Remember all those password screens at the end of every stage? Well, if credits were shown, the input file would have to be extended to exit the password screen at the end. If input were to end earlier, the credits must be skipped. Sorry.

I just checked, and it seems they're both on. I'll try turning them off. Edit: It seems to sync now. Thanks!

Excuse me, but how do I dump frames into an avi file without causing desyncs? To be exact, the input doesn't desync, but instead the randomness is non-deterministic. I'm TASing Kirby's Air Ride, with every setting at default except I used LLE, since other audio options causes non-deterministic playback.

P.S. Also, This is full-screen game, which means I can't check RAM with Cheat Engine while making TAS. I wonder if there's solution about this, too.
Try pressing the button that brings up the start menu. Then try to click on Cheat Engine. :)

New WIP. Sorry, no cabin fight yet. I will probably redo everything in Chapter 2-2, but the route will still be the same. I was told I need to equip a hand grenade for the cabin fight so I will do that when using the crest on the church. Link to video
Would this trick help? It can be used to avoid a cutscene. :)

Since this is related to using a memory card, I'll post it here. For some reason, my Kirby's Air Ride dtm file never syncs unless I manually delete the save file within the memory card. Are other builds of Dolphin like that too? I'm using this build of Dolphin, if that helps.

I've finally completed 2 checklists (in real time)! For anyone interested in completing a checklist, here's one problem. I've been told that the purple boxes DON'T count towards 100%; you still have to manually complete the requirement to get it count as done. So if one wants to complete all 120 checkboxes and get a golden color on the list, stuff like "race 100 laps" must be done manually. So I think a Top Ride - 100 checks run would be the best choice, since each lap is about 10 seconds long, and a minimum of 800 laps must be done, which means about 2.2 hours of a 100% run would be running around in circles. 0_o Edit: Here's the fastest achievements to obtain the credits for Top Ride: Free run: Do one lap in under 00:05:00! How do I manipulate the enemies sent by the helicopter? I managed to save 3 more frames at the first stage, but the boss won't cooperate. :( WIP

Here's my Wip from a topic of the same name. Good luck! Also, just curious, since I never used TASEdit before, how is it like? Is it the same as TASing with Programmer's Notepad? Finally, about the glitches. I have no clue, since usually, I find them by accident. =P

I found a faster way to accelerate! But... Strangely enough, not only did this resulted in horrible luck involving enemy placement, it also caused unexplained lag of ~13 frames in some of the rooms in chapter 3. For the mentioned reasons, I've decided not to implement that trick, which saved around 11 frames, into the run so far.
I'm restarting the run with this trick. I think I can use a frame or so to manipulate luck.

Holy crap, over half the movie is now waiting for the demo. Still an epic glitched movie. Given the save abuse, I'd say this qualifies as a glitched category, and opens room for an any% run. This should however, obsolete the current movie.
Thanks! About the any% run, I was thinking about a run similar to this, except without the demo glitch, since boss fights and some stages are significantly shorter with save abuse.

goofydylan8, those post, while didn't mentioned the games I said, mentioned the term "every game" or something similar. Which, to me, meant everything including "separate ports of the same game, games with non-endings, autoscrollers or hacks".

Here's an idea: add a tier between starred and non-starred. It would include pretty much every movie where most people say "whoa, that's crazy". Tuck everything else away, not so buried as gruefood delight but not as prominent as the awesomer movies. We could call everything else something like "Archives".

goofydylan8 and amaurea, I thoroughly enjoyed your posts and completely agree with everything you've both said. To be honest, I skimmed this thread except for those few posts, so I'm sorry if I didn't mention others who agree. Anyway, count me in for accepting all games as "publishable". We have a rating system. Let's start using it effectively.
I thought goofydylan8 just wrote a while ago that he doesn't want every game to be published, only the ones deemed to be bad. See:

Not that there are other legitimate reasons to reject movies. I said in the first post that I agreed with the rule choice on all of the other "Bad game choice" rules page. You apparently chose to ignore that portion of the argument.

I wasn't responding to you. I was responding to these fellow members who think a TAS of every single game including ports/hacks/homebrews was a great idea. =P Sorry if you took offense at my comment(s).

Ok, seriously No. I fail to see how stuff like 5+ different versions of SMB here published along with a million hacks of nearly the same game would "help" the site in anyway. Edit: Hey, lets publish games like Desert-bus, or Game & Watch, where it never really ends, so instead of ending it, we give it arbitrary goals to decide when it should end. Also, lets publish movies of every single autoscrolling space-shooter, since someone MUST have played them somewhere. Edit 2: I could write a game called "DarkKobold jlun2 winz thiz TAS" and try and get it published.

Who cares about something different? IF even the most boring movies could be published, I could make a movie with lots of autoscrolling and do absolutely NOTHING in it. Which means I could totally rip off the stunts used in the other movies, as it'll be published anyway, no matter what. ;)
