Here is my WIP back from August. I started college this fall and I didn't even want to think about TASing until break. Some things I've observed:
Red ammo is laggy but can reach eggs that take longer with normal bullets.
Much of the ammo can cost frames to get so every bullet must be spent wisely.
I've also spent some time stitching together maps of every level before I TAS so I am then really familiar with the map.
Enjoy!

Nice WIP, but since you get 40 ammo by the 3rd stage, wouldn't it be better to shoot a whole bunch of dinos at the first 2 stages, enter the T-Rex battle with no ammo, and then pick up the ammo there? That'll make it (slightly) more exciting and you'll get more points.
I've noticed there are parts where you've somehow destroyed the egg further than my WIP. How'd you do that? An example would be the egg behind the second building in the first stage.
Also, since you've made some maps, do you know any location where you might get some red bullets without loosing time after the third stage? Since the red bullet comes in 3's, it drastically shortens the second T-Rex battle, where it needs to be hit by 60 bullets of any kind.
Finally, your WIP desyncs in certain revisions of Fceux, but whatever.
Since no one is active on irc at 8:40 (utc+1), please read this:
<MESHUGGAH>someone from the higher tier? 3752S doesn1t uses highest difficulty and also doesn't improves the gameplay, I have a 56 frames faster and still can be improved much more
<MESHUGGAH>but I feel it awkward that I vote yes for entertainment and basicly write down why it doesn't should be pubished
And I think that choosing south could be faster because you can use the "green" level which is the fastest imo (you just have to go down once with the horses and rush the enemy while other levels needs to get the horses to up and down for the horses and the artillery).
You are amazing. You should submit/make more runs. :)
That "battle" was absolutely hilarious. Although it would be much better if somehow, the links can be manipulated to die faster, since the rupee noise was kinda annoying.
but again, where is the line between hacks and unlicenced games ?
The Green Herring wrote:
Calling something a "hack" implies that the developers took another game's programming and used it to make their game. Unlicensed games, for all that can be said about their quality, are usually built from the ground up with engines the developers programmed themselves, even if just to mimic another game.
There was a huge row when someone recreated another person's Pokémon Yellow TAS from an encode and submitted it. (I think it was nonetheless eventually published, though.)
.....
So, if I made a TAS, and uploaded it to Youtube (and not here), noone should get the same time or I can complain and have it take down?
I understand why it feels like a pointless exercise for most though. After all, players want to avoid playthrough-stopper bugs at all costs under normal circumstances. However, I think people are just not open-minded enough to truly appreciate this type of art, which is unfortunate.
I will hold my vote until I can watch this submission.
But why fastest crash? What about fastest death/kill/first item/first input/etc?
Current rules do not allow TASes of board games to go into vault.
This submission was accepted before I cancelled it. I think things are different now though, and if I uncancel it, I don't think judging will come to the same conclusion.
Well, perhaps old runs that violate vault guidelines could be grandfathered? Is this the right way to use this term? That'll make sure those runs could be improved instead of staying sub-optimal forever.
So, anyone interested in seeing a run of all modes done quickly? That'll include a painting + 3? minigames done once, just like the duck hunt TAS.
Infact, will that be acceptable for the vault?
Ladies and gentlemen, for many many years, avid fans have looooooonged for a sub hour run. This has been my dream. This has most certainly been the dream of many many metroid prime speedrunners, fans and followers.
Now, as I said to Tompa, I can rest in peace :) I wanted this run soooo much that I offered thousand dollars to anyone who managed to get sub hour on this shit. That was years ago lol :)
This is the epiphany of... everything!
I wonder how much faster a TAS of this would be? Assuming Dolphin load times ever get close to the real console, of course.
Hacks are not eligible for this category, but unlicensed games are. We demand hacks with entertainment value, therefore should be judged by the Moon tier requirements.
Unfortunately, it does matter for non-vaultable runs like this one. If the tiers are to remain unchanged, I would want this to be a moon, but I don't think that's a great outcome. I would much rather have a Demo category like the one Brandon proposed.
So, we should throw CRAP (Crappy, Ridiculous and Pointless) TAS's into a new "Demo" category instead?
Because it may be that we never have to use firedash glitch, maybe I switch back to the English version for the TAS. However, English version's Cackletta is 400 HP stronger I think.
