Second of all, if you're saying that I did not follow up on goal choice, then I'll have you know that I couldn't find much more glitches, bugs, oddities, or Easter eggs to showcase. If that's what you're saying, then consider this cancelled.
Then why bother with this game the first place? Play-arounds are supposed to entertain the audience by "playing-around" with the game's flaws, easter eggs, mechanics, etc. :P
Hi, I got a question. Why is there 2 versions of Jungle book in the vault side by side, yet Kirby's Avalanche is obsoleted by a similar yet different game? If two ports could exist side by side, why not Kirby's Avalanche?
The NES and Genesis versions of Jungle Book hardly play the same. I wouldn't even call them ports.
On the other hand, Kirby's Avalanche and Super Puyo Puyo 2 are closer to each other than ports. They are regional versions. Their core gameplay is the same.
Then what about the rejection message:
Unfortunately, after watching both runs, this game seems like simply an inferior version of the Genesis game. The colors are dull, the bonus scenes drag out, and there isn't much to see in the different versions of the map. Rejecting for bad game choice.

Then you failed at aiming for time! If you are going to take a break and entertain the audience like a playaround then the movie should be judged as a playaround.
So....I should redo the run and this time create an empty painting? Uh...ok I guess. I'll do it.
Edit:
Alternatively, rewriting or adding to the the "must stand out from non-TAS play" segment to include something about being non-trivial. Even if it's just pathfinding.
Reject the warioware run please
Edit 2: Oh dear, the rng changed for the first 2 minigames. I'll be back in a day.
I'm going to have to vote no on entertainment for sure. But I don't think this is good vault material. Like you said, you don't complete it as fast as possible, because that would be pointless. So you aren't aiming for time, nor are you aiming to entertain your audience. So I'm not sure what you are aiming for. But the vault was specific goals, and I think this movie fails at achieving those goals.
I was aiming for time; I just kinda assumed 0 star painting = lose and 5 star painting = win. :P
Things that are not vaultable -
1) "games" that are not clearly definable as a game - Does this movie even qualify here?
I'm not sure what to comment other than the fact that the TAS completes all the possible things once.

2) goals that are not clearly in the fastest completion or full completion categories - does this aim for fastest time. - It isn't mentioned that this is the goal nor can I really tell it is from watching the encode
Well, at the painting part (not shown in the encode) I could've simply started a new canvas and ended immediately, getting 0 stars, but that would be pointless (and kinda means you lost), so I tried to complete a 5 - star painting as fast as possible.
adelikat wrote:
3) games that fail to have a clear non-subjective completion point - looping forever is ok, but I'm not sure this has a "loop point" even, or that the criteria of completion is non-subjective.
Oh, this game doesn't have an actual "end"; you can easily access the credits just by clicking on the option to see it. So I simply completed everything possible once as fast as possible before clicking on the credits.
adelikat wrote:
4) movies that fail to be distinguishable from the best real-time speedruns - This movie may not even pass this as well.
The painting part (not shown in encode), pixel race and possibly the puzzle mini-games are impossible to do like that in real time. Especially the painting part since drawing like that using a real stylus is difficult.

I can't say I was able to figure out what was going on here, but I suspect it failing to meet as many as 4 vault criteria.
:P

Try getting 5 stars in the painting part in real time in less than a minute using the wrong colors like I did. It's not easy (is it even possible?).
So, anyone interested in seeing a run of all modes done quickly? That'll include a painting + 3? minigames done once, just like the duck hunt TAS.
Infact, will that be acceptable for the vault?
Here's the painting part improved so that I don't even need to move down anymore. And here's the painting itself:
Yea, beautiful, huh?
Notes: Oil paintings are alot easier to get 4/4 (5 stars) than using pencil/water color.
Edit: To anyone who wants to try, here are some important memory addresses:
021763BC - Color Accuracy
021763C0 - Line Accuracy
It ranges from 0 - 4, with 4 being the best rating for a painting.
Well, the current rule is that we publish every indie and homebrew game, no matter how crappy, so long as somebody puts a few minutes of effort into TAS'ing them. So under that rule, this should go in too.
That's why the rules should be changed. Or else it could be abused.
as i think that "good endings" should be prefered as they really "complete" the game,
bad endings could be alowed when it may change the gameplay radically,
the abe's oddyssee is a good exemple as how the gameplay is changed by the ending.
another expemple is wario 2 where there is no "bad" ending but multiple ending branchement, we did publish the shortest ending and the 100 % one.
there is also knuckle chaotics where the only published run is the bad ending...
the fun thing with the vault is that the problem is inversed : the good endings become sub optimals compared to bad endings if they don't enter the 100% completion categorie....
But why waste time getting the good ending if its for the vault?
I saw the few frames you saved by getting the egg right in the path last on the forest level. Good Job - I was having a hard time eliminating the wait to collect the pass card.
With getting the eggs further, I used the maps to see where I needed to be in order to hit them off screen. Then I looked at the RAM to see at what value do the eggs not hit and then get closer until it does.
That's what I did too, but the egg wouldn't spawn until I went closer, losing the frames I saved earlier. Something must have happened to make your egg spawn earlier.
And this comment is ironic, you stand out to me as one of the biggest critics of game choice rejections. You were quite unhappy with the system back then as I recall. And now, you have what you wanted, and are upset about the quality decrease that resulted, and are still unhappy. From my standpoint you seem awfully hard to please.
Don't worry about him. After all, he's the one who wrote this:
The decisions made over the last week or two have. It changed what the site is about to reward quickly making speedruns of terrible short games so that we could accept runs for a terrible console.
I think he's just trying to troll cause people to quit.
