Hello guys! Here is a TAS of a SMW ROM Made by me!
I know it's an old post to bring up, but:

I can't help but feel like this game is someone's senior project for college, and not an actual sellable game. It is like a ROM hack, but instead a copy. Perhaps I'm wrong, but since PC games are so easy to make, it seems like we need to draw a line, like we do for hacks. Otherwise, I could write a game called "DarkKobold winz thiz TAS" and try and get it published.
Which is pretty much how I feel about this submission.

Couldn't you get 100% and use the purple boxes to get the few that would waste tons of time (like the play in free ride for two hours (in city trial))? And also, you can use the purple boxes to get 100%. Me and my brother have gotten everything twice in this game (stupid memory card corruption) and the first time we used them, and the second time we didn't.
I've finally remembered about this so here's the result: Unfortunately, despite able to get this message, the purple boxes can be further checked. If you want proof, I have a savefile of 119 checkmarks here: http://sdrv.ms/183G2eT *(Skydrive link) Fill in the check with a purple checkmark, then win 1 round at the Fire stage. The purple would then turn gold. So technically, for a 100% to count, you would have to do every thing.

Edit: I forgot to mention this, but the .dtm syncs fine if you don't load a savestate during the movie. If you made a savestate during the battle, closed game, played back the dtm, and reload the state, there's a high chance the boss behaves slightly differently.
It seems the latest Dolphin release has fixed this problem, so now it reliably syncs if you made a savestate during playback! Anyways, it seems possible to hit 2 buttons at once: Link to video Sorry for the crap quality; my internet is capped. :/

Link to video The sad thing is that this glitch has been around since 2008, and the only other video of the music there doesn't even have the whole thing down. :/

Well, since there doesn't seem to be a wishlist for this console, I decided to make one. :P AR Games - I'm just wondering how the minigames would be broken Face Raiders - I'm just wondering how the above + how the input file would be like. Paper Mario: Sticker Star - It's a paper mario game, and it motivated me to buy a 3DS. Plus, I wonder how a TAS would plan the route out. and uh....I don't have much games atm, so the list is kinda short.

WST. You did hurt me aswell. :(
Qwerty at least made his own TAS. From the beginning to the last hit at the final boss. And he consumed 43242 rerecords to make it. I can imagine how does it feel like, making only 15628 rerecords (not even all of which are mine) by paying nights without sleeping.

I'm truly sorry if it was like that!!! :'(
You don't seem sorry if you're seriously nitpicking on WST's statement that Qwerty was hurt to justify adding you back. >.>

Why does the encode just stay at the end screen for 2 mins? What is the point of that?

Most of them are awesome, one is disturbing. You can guess which one.
Well, if I had to guess, is it the fact his gallery consist of pretty much entirely non-MlP art except for the one linked and that if you didn't know him very well, you would've never guessed that he was a brony?

Once again; I agree, let’s consider this the solution that satisfies everyone; okay? I just want to go to bed without feeling that I infringe someone’s rights, and if you accept these new credits, it will help me to ger over that feeling.
Infringing someone's rights? Didn't a discussion like this happened before?

Okay I agree now. I added DMTM to the credits line; I also add Qwerty, because this TAS is completely based on his work, and mostly uses his route. So just let’s consider this being what Qwerty’s first TAS should have been.
Why? Which part of the input file did he contributed? If discovering glitches alone warrents co-author ship, then shouldn't runs like SM64 would have like x3 more co-authors listed??

Well, since there's a bunch of new strats now, anyone familiar with this game mind updating http://tasvideos.org/GameResources/NES/MikeTysonsPunchout.html It would be nice for future TASers.

I'm not sure is it "pathetic" to reset the game once Kraid object is dead (but not flag) and reset the game to input a password that will actually give me the Kraid flag activated which would also happen if I would just wait 24 seconds.
:o What does the current run do?

Also a read about Revision Control and that doesn't fix my issue. I still lost the part of the work I had just worked on. I said I made backups multiple times. Read my post twice before assuming I'm retarded and didn't make backups.
Where in feos's post every implied he was mocking your intelligence? All he asked was for you to elaborate on how you made your backups gone.

Not remotely entertaining (to me) but very fast. Perfect material for Vaulting.
I don't believe "No Damage" would be vault-able unless it also happens to be the fastest.

Mere fact that SuperDoodleMan uses Fox whereas numerics uses Samus renders per-level comparisons invalid. But of course, AR might give even more reasons for it to be invalid. Whole-game comparison is valid regardless of character difference (but might be invalid for other reasons), and when it comes to whole game, numerics does beat SuperDoodleMan's time. Genuine sub-optimality would be doing level faster using Samus, or doing the whole game faster using any character.

AR = Action Replay, a cheat device. This means the TAS was created using SSBM's development mode, which has a frame-by-frame mode built in. However, this mode ignores move decay, meaning attacks always deal the same amount of damage and knockback. Due to this problem, TASes made with Dolphin are prefered and sometimes replace AR videos even if they are slower or worse.
Thanks MUGG!

First thing I did was to compare this movie to SuperDoodleMan's Adventure video back from 2006, which at the time used Action Replay to have a frame advance ability and make a segmented run of Melee's Adventure mode on Very Hard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJr8nCgm1H8 Much to my surprise, while the in-game times are overall faster here, the times of many individual stages are significantly slower: - Stage 1-2: +3.68s - Stage 4-1: +5.41s - Stage 4-2: +3.99s - Stage 5-1: +3.53s - Stage 6.1: +2.83s - Stage 6.2: +5.24s - Stage 8-2: +1.89s - Stage 9: +9.19s So that's a total of 35.76 seconds lost when combining the bad stages. Sure, a different character was used which may balance things out overall, and there's the possibility of worse luck due to the lack of segments, but I have a hard time believing that this movie is optimal considering this. I may be completely wrong, but that's my impression. In any case, I think that's enough evidence to verify the optimization of this movie. Also, why play during the credits? Pretty sure any% movies are supposed to end as soon as possible according to the rules. I believe useless input it should be cut from the end of the submission.
You know, given the site's history of Smash Brothers submissions, I think aiming for fastest time regardless of anything isn't exactly preferred.

This game has a lot more depth to it compared to the original. Will we need a separate category for every character? I would have thought Captain Falcon would been the fastest character to beat the game with.
Well, are the other characters more entertaining? The vault doesn't accept anything but fastest any% and 100%.

Nice improvement. This is vault stuff, voted no for not being entertaining.
Yet again. MEH EXISTS! I cannot stress this enough
Well, I voted No not because it was boring, but because it was just annoying to watch. Mind you, it's not as bad as front line, but I still didn't find watching the run something that I would look forward to do again. If I voted meh, for me, it means the run was ok, not really outstanding, nor did it left much of an impact, I would watch it again, but if I had the choice between watching this and some other much more entertaining TAS, I'd watch that instead.

Er, the hell... That commit does not appear to be on any branch. Fortunately, googlecode has snapshot links (at least if one does some URL editing).
I don't have the game iso atm, but does the run at least sync on the official.latest releases? I've read that GC emulation has stabilized quite a bit, so maybe it would work?

Wow... Just wow.... I was honestly surprised that this Adventure mode TAS was different than what I'd expected. Usually, I just see Fox/Captain Falcon picked then run right for justice. I'm glad you chose Samus; that part with her sliding around in Icicle Mountain was highly entertaining :D Yes vote, and I agree with shooting the targets at the credits given how it's difficult to pull off in real time. :o
