One problem with sub 5 is the inaccurate emulator that Mupen is. Would the current TAS still be that fast on a good emulator? That would mean even more timesavers would need to be found.

This looks great with all the new tricks. I can't wait to see te next levels! As a german speaking person, you just have to love the guards shouting at Bond in german. Especially the dialogue, where they talk about how cold it is and that they need to get some booze ^^

I don't see a reason why Autism should be a disadvantage for TASing a game. I know how patient and focussed autists can be, so they might have an advantage. Having that said, OoT isn't an easy game to start with, it has incredibly complex mechanics and the emulator you'll have to use is complete garbage. But if you're motivated to learn it, you should definitely go ahead and start practicing. If you have problems, you can always ask someone on the forum.

So for a TAS, would low% be the fastest? It will take a long time until we see a 100% though, with all the glitches and possible routes this will be one hell of a project (but still one of the TASes that I need to see before I die)

Would it be possible to KO him earlier? That way it would be short enough to not get boring and qualify for moon tier.

I thought it won't be possible to emulate disc-based consoles anyway, because of the variable loading times. How do you emulate differences from a scratched disc?

I'm okay with the decision to not get compasses/maps. That way, the definition is closer to RTAs. And yes, I will be extremely hyped for every WIP you release ^^

About resets: Speedrunners reset all the time, for savewarping but also for so called "heavy glitching". It's even possible to do the 0:00 run of Pokémon on a real Gameboy! And what about Skyward Sword runners, who use the internal reset function to screw with the game? They may not press the physical reset button on the console, but I don't think this makes much of a difference to the average viewer. So my opinion: Resets are a part of gameplay and if it happens that they change the gameplay significantly, it'll be always possible to make it a separate category. This discussion reminds me of the debate about RTAs, that SDA had some years ago.

This somehow represents TASing at its purest - Just speed, no matter how repetitive it may be. I especially like how the character gets hit at the beginning of every round, just to avoid the "flawless victory" message.

- Pressing Up+Down or Left+Right on controllers that don't normally allow it
As I know, this is possible on a real console if you modify the controller. There is one similiar thing to this: The range of control sticks is more limited on the real hardware.
- Partially disconnecting a cartridge
Crooked cartridge? I thought this isn't possible to emulate?
- Witnessing the ending without completing the normal game's objective
Can you define the "normal objective"? Would it be physically killing the final boss? Getting the last story item, if this happens after the boss? Pressing A at the last text box that activates the credits?
- Getting a game beaten state in memory but without witnessing the normal ending
If the Pokémon run was rejected because the game wasn't in its "post credits state", should reaching this state become the requirement? In my opinion: Yes. So this would mean, that a pokémon run would at least need to end up with a file that can be started and has the unknown dungeon unlocked. Games that don't unlock anything are a bit harder to define, though.
- Resetting during a save operation
I think this should be a different category, but not completely banned.

This was very impressive to watch, especially when I was reminded of how difficult this game is. It's great to finally see a TAS of it, even if it is the GBA version with its horrible music. But I have one question: Can't you skip the whole Mr. Sax fight? Or is this only possible on PSX?

It's on pause (been a while). I'm working on other projects atm. Blaze still believes yoshi is the fastest character. I think Kirby using the japanese version is the fastest.
Thanks for letting me know. I really hope this TAS will be finished some day, as I think it's very interesting to see this game being played for speed.

I think P64 has less of those major bugs that prevent you from even playing a game normally, like the horrible pause lag in OoT or the bugged switch in Banjo-Tooie, but is very inaccurate. Correct me if this is wrong, I didn't use P64 for a while now. Btw, does 2.0 at least emulate DK64 on a level where it isn't a complete mess? This game would be number 1 on my list of "most wanted N64 TASes that doesn't exist because of horrible emulators"

I think the moon-vault ratio will change in the future, so that it will have more vault movies. It's still a new system and as we can see, there are a number of movies that are placed in the wrong tier. So I'm not too worried about it. Oh and keep Family Feud in the stars. It absolutely deserves this spot! It's one of the best non-speed oriented TASes on the site, along with the ISS Deluxe playaround.

Guess we should ask the devs if using the 1.6 source is allowed then... now that 2.0 is officially open source I don't think they'll have anything against it...
If the whole thing is open source now, wouldn't 1.7 be the optimal version? To my knowledge, this was always regarded as superior to 1.6.

I love all the hate in the comments ^^ This is so bad, that it actually becomes very interesting to watch. You always wonder: How low can this go? And if we can publish Cheetahmen II, we can also have this.

Does the frame counter of bizhawk have a limit? Even if it wouldn't, the screen would be filled at one point.

Ok, I was stupid, so I improved it to 9.67. This is even faster than yours, Nitrogenesis, but only because I do the menus faster. You can call my old one "low%, bad ending, walkathon" ^^ I can't upload it right now, as I'm not on my computer at home. When I get back, I will post the update. Sorry that this is not perfect, I made this in a very short time to have a April Fools movie. I still need to work on my TASing skills. Also, I used Bizhawk to make this, although I don't think this should be too relevant for a TAS this short.

This is probably the worst game I've ever seen (I mean, even E.T. can at least be finished). It definitely had a "so-bad-it's-good" vibe to it, but that doesn't prevent the movie from being monotonous. Besides that, I agree that it doesn't look completely optimized. If the run was faster, I could easier accept the uninteresting gameplay. Guess that's a meh vote for me.

You have to get used to the fact that a slower run can obsolete a faster one. It's very important for TASing, that the runs are as legitimate as possible. So yeah, go on and improve the old VBA runs. Yes vote!
