Funny, I never have any desync problems in Gens (at least, after v.6 or so was released) that aren't my own fault (i.e. loading a far back save, then loading a near-back save).
Same for me

Last time i got my vision checked i was close to 20/10... But the version i have has File - Options - Input - Sound - Window - Cheat - Netplay - Help on the menu bar. i've read all of the readmies that come with it that explain how to use it. really straightforward for setting it up and all that. So far i haven't found a single thing that has the word "Video" and "Record" in the same area. I've been playing with it now for quite some time, testing some of my roms on it. There isn't an SMV config or anything. So. I dunno. Maybe i'm just stupid. The version is: Snes9X v1.42 for Windows. (c) Copyright 1996 - 2003 Gary Henderson and Jerremy Koot. (c) Copyright 2002 - 2003 Matthew Kendora and Brad Jorsch. I saw a 1.43 under production where i downloaded it, which was the link directly from the site. So I dunno. I guess somebody could briefly tell me how THEY record videos and i could go from there. Hopefully i am just missing something vital here, but in the past i haven't had trouble figuring out programs, so go figure.

See the site's FAQ for help on making movies(along with the other pages such as Rules & Guidelines). You'll have to experiment a little bit with Snes9x to get the hang of it, but it's pretty simple to learn. Good luck, and feel free to ask for any help(might not want to post future questions in a console-specific forum).
I read most of the FAQ before i got here, but i was kind of eager to get going so i skipped a few parts. I get the basic ideas about how to make my nes movies.. So now i realise that i'm trying to do a Speedrun, and not a Timeattack. No frame slowing, no corrections etc. I also spent a good 40 minutes reading almost all of the faq's and procedures of converting videos to .avi movies. There is only one very good question remaining: How do i make record my SMV videos on the Snes9x? I've downloaded it, set it up, and it works great. Looks really impressive.. but after tinkering with the options and doo dads i can't find a single thing that says anything about video recording.. and at Arc's superplays site there's also plenty of explanation of what to do once you GET an SMV.. but none as to how to get one in the first place? I know this is a chore to read, but i've tried my best to find out on my own.. but i'm kind of stuck. Thx again for your patience and help.

KOOL!! Finally a B'n BH run, I'm gonna watch it immediatly and edit my thoughts about it afterwards. I'm currently also working on a run on this, I did the levels in the same order, gotta look if your's is faster then mine so far ^^ Excellent. Very fast handling with changing the items and stuff. Very well planned. I can't see this being improved by much, maybe a little bit on the streets but that's all. Gotta cancel my run, mine is _teh_ shit compared to this :'] However, I dunno if this is that entertaining, for me, as I know the game quite good it is entertaining, for someone that dunno the game and downloads timeattacks to see videos with massiv action and impossible movement it is maybe not.

Looks good so far. I hate to nitpick on such a small thing, but I think you could have dashed at around frame 11330 and didn't. That's the only mistake I really saw. Otherwise, do you think it's possible to critical more often during the boss fight? As long as it doesn't take you more time to manipulate luck than to attack normally twice, it's worth it. Otherwise, good job with the manipulation- gem missle would've been a pain.
1. Ohh your right, I could've been 1 sec faster there... hmm... time for me to learn hexediting movies! 2. I did the boss fight 10 times or so and then picked the best one of it, and in all of the different movies I only managed 1 critical hit, I think this would take HUGE time to land a critical hit every time

i'm actually working on the same thing! I'm new here.. but i assumed someone would be doing pilotwings as well. Yeah, my goal is to make a video, bug free, of the fastest possible runs from start to finish of every airfield. so far i've only done the first four before the heli mission. Since i'm new here i have a question and i didn't know where to ask it, so i'll start here. I'm using ZsnesW at the moment, since it seems to run well on my computer, and i have the videos stored. When i submit them will they be then reviewed and put in avi or mpeg format? I see all these time attack videos and i can't replicate them, cuz game videocapture programs are too slow, and space consuming.. and i don't have a video out or in on my video card. I'd appreciate some input :P thx.
Zsnes doesn't have Rerecord function, right? Yeah... Sry but I think you gotta redo that whole stuff on Snes9x to get the movies on here. The movies here are all made with the help of "slowmotion" and "rerecord"-functions of emulators, and as Zsnes doesn't have that sort of stuff I don't think you can do this movies that perfect without rerecords and slowmotion.

http://mitglied.lycos.de/deinbenutzername/Secret%20of%20Mana%20(U).smv here, I just started a SoM run. I will do this 1 player, this game is extremly long and very time-consuming, a 2 or even 3 player run would take even much more time as all 2/3 players gotta do every move perfect before you can go on and not rerecord, and I think we couldn't go on that often with it because not every player does always have the time or motivation to play and then we maybe often couldn't go on for weeks because somebody has no time for it and we have to wait for every player before we can go on... If anybody know's something to improve in the run that far please tell me

Hullo fellas Yesterday I wanted to start my Secret of Mana run... but after a few minutes I was about to drive insane because of this bad keycombo Shift+F1. So I searched the forums here a little bit, hoping that anyone here knows of some tool to assign some Joypad buttons to keyboard keys. So... everything I found was this Joy2Key, but a short moment later I saw that this is only for Linux OS'. So I searched a bit on google and found this program called RB-Joy. the page: http://www.rbsoft.de/RB-Joy/rb-joy.html download: http://www.rbsoft.de/rbjoy7.zip So yeah... H4ve phun ^_^

Hi. Also bitte das auf jedenfall verbessern :] (außer du hast es wirklich gebraucht und ich hab da bloß was übersehen ^^') --------------------------- --------------------------- Looks very nice ^^ Just one thing: Please do only change items when it's really necesary, when you touch Flower/Feather/Mushroom the game stops for a short moment as you morph into another Mario. I think I saw that you did this 2 times in Donut Plains 2 where it wasn't really necesary (I have problems writing this word ^^'). So please improve that :] (expect you really needed to change it there and I just overlooked something ^^')

A 3 player run of this would be kool, does anyone know if you can record a movie while netplaying? I would like to do a run on this but I think it would be much better with 3 players and in real life I don't know anyone that would do something like that with me...

Player 1 Joypad is on 6 buttons, player 2 on 3 buttons. Here... I uploaded my config file, maybe this can solve this: http://mitglied.lycos.de/deinbenutzername/Config1.cfg

FF2 for NES or FF4 SNES?
I mean the one for NES. The most unique game in the series... With the great (at least in my opinion) SoM-like system.

I just thought of something. Afaik in FF2 there is also a glitch which gives you insane amount of XP... I dunno anything about it though... (gotta check gamefaqs.com) Fact is that both games had the same programmer (Nasir ?), and the system's are similar coded. So maybe there are other glitches too in FF2 that can be used in some way in SoM ? Does anyone know of some glitches in FF2 that could maybe work some way in SoM ?

If I can hook up my Genesis Controller to the PC, then maybe I can force any of my brothers to do that 2 player run with me. We used to play this game a LOT as kids ^^

I'm really looking forward to this. I love this game and I think this would make a extremly good speedrun. If there is really a glitch with that you can gain lots of XP that would be awesome!!! http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/snes/file/secret_of_mana_low_level.txt here, I found a low-level walkthrough guide, maybe someone is interested in it...

Hmm... maybe there exists a program that converts SMS-Roms to Genesis? I mean, there are also converters for NES to GBA... Maybe I can find something in the net... Couldn't find any converters for that, that far. I found a Game Gear to Genesis converter : http://www.zophar.net/utilities/download/gg2md.zip , at least something...
