On a similar note: If you have two movies, one rated 3 for technical quality and another rated 9.8, which one do you think would more probably be more entertaining? (And please don't nitpick. Individual exceptions don't affect the answer to a question about what's the most probable situation.)
Probably the one with a 10 for entertainment.

The thing is, I apparently don't rate like everyone else does here. I don't feel that a 10 is a yes vote, 5 a meh vote, etc. I feel 10 is a perfect movie, 5 is acceptable, and 1 is get this shit outta here. I don't see how people can vote 10s on technical, when in some instances (See my old movie rating for mario 64) a month later the game is 10 seconds faster, and more frame perfect. Yes, an extreme example, but that is how I view it... and I vote accordingly. On another note, I make sure the judges, and authors, know the reason for my lower vote numbers. For ferret, I PM'd him, to let him know what my reasoning was even further, and to make sure he was OK with it. If any player has a problem with my voting, I encourage them to let me know so I can explain how I voted. I do not appreciate being brought into the conversation without a direct question as to why I voted that way.

I didn't consider you thought that almost 4 minutes of slowly X-Ray climbing up 11 screens while having a still picture without any movements at all (other than the climb animation) is worth a 9,5 entertainment rating for you. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
WOW! What a dick!

Wow, wonderful little game that I have never heard of. I hope this comes to VC :) Dude, do an any percent run. Don't listen to the guys who are saying "100% would be better! Do a 100%!" Take the easier route first, get to know the game, get more interest in the game by publishing an any percent. You will know routes/find routes easier, maybe even motivate another person to help you with a 100% run. *Time and again, I have seen new players get discouraged very quickly at the depth and magnitude of planning a 100% run requires. *No research to site here, move along

I plan to fight the man. Was that the quad run, or just single runs? I will try to download and upload asap...

Well, instead of making a new topic and then merging the two, why not just be proactive and change the topic's... topic? What kidn of keyboard do you use? Some have already posted, but I will add mine. Mine is one of those new Apple keyboards, and, quite frankly, it is sexy :3 Two usbs on the side of it, and a nifty looking silver with white keys, and I am a happy camper. Wired, of course. I would LOVE to invest in some of those keyboards that have LEDs under they keys, to illuminate red letters on black keys (talk about arousing); anyone know where I could find such a beautiful thing for cheap?

Actually, that brings up another issue, theenglishman, do you all prefer wired or wireless mice? I much prefer wired, because there is nothing I hate more than a mouse dying on me while I am in the middle of something.

Why I was thinking about other people's mice, I don't know. But, just for shits and giggles, what kind of mouse do you use? Is it a standard double clicker, or a fancy pants $100 one? Here is mine: http://www.winboard.org/forum/attachments/erfahrungsberichte-hardware/21583d1192822298-logitech-mx-518-mx518.jpg Bought it for WoW, before I found out my laptop will not play the game well... at all. (It doesn't meet the RAM minimal requirements.

Where would we get the isos to make the tas', though (rehtorical[sp], mind you). I mean, it is a lot more difficult to find dumps of massive GCN iso's than any 1,000 kb snes rom or whatever. Unless EVERY movie was encoded to AVI and shared that way, a GCN TAS would be quite pointless due to the average internet user not being able to find or not being able to download a whole, clean, [!] GCN iso to watch the movie... the emulation is a small step for TASing, but easy to find isos are the bigger jump.. imho (To cover my ass i give a disclaimer: I am NOT asking for places to get the roms, as stated I was thinking hypothetically and I really dont care to know where I can get the roms or any of that jazz)
This is an interesting issue, but not really pertinent. The only people that need a copy of the game, legit or not, are the runner, encoder (could be same person) and the judge (to verify authenticity). Youtube or Megaupload, or etc could supply the general populous with the run for feedback/critique.
MAN i wrote that a long time ago ;P

To be honest, my first computer was a laptop and I hated it. Gateway Tablet PC. ~2 years later, upgraded to a Mac Desktop and would never go back (to laptops, that is; I can stand either OS). The biggest thing is just getting enough HD and RAM... otherwise, you will get fucked in the ass by slow-ness and not-enough-memory-ness. There is my ridiculously obvious two-cents, which didn't really answer the question... oh well, I suppose.

To be an unbiased party, mupen sucks my balls every time I try to run it. I think swordless is jumping the gun on the whole "what are the odds" argument. Of course, you WILL have to get a working .m64 file to get these guys' respect ;)

So, what you are saying, is that there is no possibility that our candy could be tainted? Funny, since China has admitted (or at least the press has reported on) the fact that there ARE melamine problems with their milk supplies... milk supplies that are, among other things, used for making Chinese candy. Now, if there was not proof of melamine in the country "the fat guy" is referencing, fuck him. But there are many documented cases, so the argument gains weight. Now, why would whole countries be pulling candy off their shelves sent from China? Just for shits and giggles? No. Evidence of a possible poison in the candy? Yes. Now, why exactly are we calling him an alarmist again? The US should, at the very least, test SOME candy and release the tests to the public, as well as pulling said candy from shelves IMMEDIATELY if the candy has traces of the bad stuff. You can complain all you want about it, but I have seen nothing here that is straight up "alarmist" about how he is acting.

Extreme, yes. But, would it be so horrible for at least ONE batch was tested (with actual testing results posted for the public to view)? I don't think so.
