Megafrost may do that in his run, if going that way is faster than not. He may or may not actually see the secret message, though, it'll depend on whichever way is fastest.

Brutal, but isn't what this site is all about? It sure would be entertaining, for the hardcore MMX fan, anyway. Though, to be fair, the X2 run that gathers all the upgrades is, oddly, FASTER (presumably) than a run would be missing one. Simply due to being able to get the Shoryuuken and one-hit bosses after that. And, since all the items were on the trail, more or less, there's little backtracking needed, so it's all real smooth. That won't be the case with X3, so a full-item run would likely be considerably longer. Still like to see it though. I'd be interested in what route would be taken.

I'll have to agree that I'd like to see this run. It IS a Zero Mission-like remake for the original FFA/SD game. There's plenty of differences, but not so much that you can't see bits and pieces of the original game (like Zero Mission). So, yeah, I'd have to vote for seeing this one done.

Nah, two should do it. A Best Ending run, and a Fast as Possible run. There's no need to make a run for the middle ending.

It is impossible to save only Annet. Richter 'discovers' Annet's location when he saves Maria. If you don't save Maria, then you either can't get into Annet's room, or she isn't there. Or, maybe you can't access the stage she is in at all. I can't remember the specifics, but it's one of those. And, if I recall, if you save Maria, but not Annet, you have to fight a possessed Annet in place of Death on the Clocktower, which was pretty neat.

This version saves Richter's sister and fiance, ie: resulting in the Best Ending. The other movie, though faster, does not.

Just posting to say I'm still anxiously awaiting the completion of this. Good luck adelikat. (And I still hope you'll consider DW3 no matter how improbable :D)

Don't you know that there's warps like in SMB to skip worlds? Plus, there's no password in that game. Though, there's a level select trick.
The level select trick was what I was refering to, though I didn't know there were warps like in SMB. But even so, there are still warpless and nonwarpless versions of SMB runs, so shouldn't the same apply here? This is a warpless run of Adventure Island II.

Damn Omni, just when I thought you were on the final version... there's too many ways to tweak out more improvements in this game, you may never finish :D Still, the revised run looks good so far. Here's hoping you won't have to restart it again.

Can't there be two seperate runs, one with warps and one without? If you use a warping password at all you'll have to go straight to the final island. And while that'll make for a shorter movie you'll miss out on the whole game.

You can indeed use the warp during the race, I've done it myself recently, and countless times before. However, using the cap and the cannon is out, though.

The CRC of the rom I used was 'D63ED5F8' and the CRC of the resulting patched rom was 'AB54326B'

Ok, I've completed Metroid Legacy, my overall opinion of the game has improved to 'maybe acceptable for TASing if enough people back it'. It's a pity Mother Brain couldn't be made harder, though, but I guess not much can be done with an event as scripted as that. Though Ridley nearly did me in, I was taking my time avoiding him when I realized 'oh snap the lava is rising!' and then went a bit ballistic. :)

I found it, thanks. Though I haven't found the Spazer, and I don't think I can use that method since I suck at mockballing. Is there any other way into that area? I see a Super Missle Gate, but it's one-way, and I can't come back from there. Hmm...

Hey I have a question for people who have played the Metroid Legacy hack. I just aquired the Varia and got the Power Bombs, but now I'm at a loss as to where to go. Every new area that the Power Bombs opened up for me seems to require either the Grapple Beam or the Gravity Suit. I'm thinking I missed the Grapple Beam somewhere, but I have no idea where. Any idea?

I've been playing it a bit myself. And it's pretty decent (though I've never played any other Metroid 3 hack to compare it to). The changes seem minor and sublte at first. I can still see the same basic 'frame' of the game's map in a lot of areas, but they're all connected differently. I'm thinking I missed the high-jump boots somewhere, though, because I keep running into areas out of my jumping-range and barely making it up there with the wall jump. So far I've found Super Missles AND the Speed Booster, only fought the Torizo and the Spore Spawn so far... It's not like a new level-hack from the ground up, it clearly takes the existing maps and re-arranges them. Your route through the game is certainly different. Some of the new puzzles are clever, others seem downright frustrating... I may post more if I get to progress further.

The movie also desynced for my in the fight with Akane, and while I know that's appropriate and all it seems to be an error :) Still, this was a nice nostalgia trip, I haven't seen Ranma in a long time. Though I always felt the second fighting game on the SNES did a better job of capturing the feel of the series (though, as a fighting game it was inferior to this one). Anyway, withholding vote for now, until we see what's up with the desyncs.

I think we can forgive you for not trying to manipulate something with THOSE odds. The first time it happened was likely sheer luck, so it's cool. Just glad to see you back on track.

Well if you don't get power-ups you can't get through Star World 1, since small Mario can't spin-jump through blocks.

Well, yes vote for me, even if this one is my least favorite of the three Donkey Kong Country games. The baddies are just so.. bland in this game. The Kremlings in DKC2 were great, but here... meh. But I digress, it has nothing to do with the run itself. :) If you're doing DKC2 next, then fantastic. I look forward to it. Eventually I'd hope to see full-runs of both games, even if DKC3 is a bit lacking.

Wowzers... I wonder how many more places in the game those physics can be manipulated?

Awesome work, Saturn. The one thing I'm really eager to see, though, is the climb up to the entrance of lower Norfair. Though you'll probably wait until the release of the full smv before you let us see that, eh?

And I also vote yes. Though I imagine it's just a drop in the ocean at this point. Good work Fractal. (Though I'd still like to see a full item run of X3 eventually...)

Depends on your circles, I suppose. I think Bisqwit mentioned once that Super Demo World:TLC was pretty well known among japanese gaming circles (or am I mistaken?), chances are Mario Adventure wasn't, but among some American gaming circles Mario Adventure is pretty well known. Depends on where you look, I guess. Either way *high-fives Krysimys*

Hmmm, well it depends on how often you'll need to do it. You seem to have good luck with running so far, so I don't know if it would be worth quicksaving and resetting just to avoid an encounter. Maybe later in the game if you're trying to get specific encounters for leveling purposes... I don't know, it's really hard to say. In terms of aesthetics it does look really nasty, though.
