Oh yes, you're right Hecatomb... I'll change the description to "there are no special attacks to be used in the run" instead to avoid confusion. Thanks for pointing that out.

Thanks! :) But I'm still pretty mad that the quality is bad... And I can't seem to use videos encoded with the H264 codec, so I have to use old avi:s... But I'm glad you liked it.

I made a Mega Man X music video today. It includes almost every boss fight in the game, X1 that is... The song in the video is "Maybe I'm a Lion" from Final Fantasy 8, by The Black Mages. I think it's a good song, it suits the video quite well. Quality is still a little crappy, but not very bad. Filesize is pretty big, 37 MB. I don't know how, or if, you can choose what codec to use when encoding the movie with moviemaker. In short, this movie went very well. I hope you like it. I liked the ending the most i think. Oh, here it is. EDIT: I almost forgot, thank you all for your motivating words! :) It's good encouragement and motivation. I hope you like this movie as much.

I found this movie very entertaining. I had no idea you could make the orange car go that fast! :) Not much more to comment on, it was very well played in my opinion. I agree that it would probably be a good idea to see how that last race would look like without using the orange car trick. Although I doubt it will be faster... Anyway, great job so far, I'm looking forward to the next WIP.

Maybe you can get someone to hex-edit a new version of 1-1 into the movie... Or maybe you have found other really small parts in the movie that can be done a little faster. As Guybrush said, if you feel up for it, then redo it. Faster is always better. But don't panic, 11 frames is not an awful lot. I will forgive you if you don't redo 1-1 just for that. :)

Thanks Vatchern. :) I know it's short, but I thought that the only video that suited metalman music was metalman stage! ;) Anyway, perhaps I'll get a new version of it up soon, with better quality. I'm gonna try to find out how stuff works with moviemaker too... Making videos is actually quite fun. EDIT: Okay, I have it in better quality now, but filesize is high... around 16mb i think. This was the best I could do... Anyone knows how/if you can change the codec for your movie with Windows Moviemaker? Anyway, here's the new link: http://www.savefile.com/files.php?fid=8725784

I made a Rockman 2 music video today. Get it here: http://www.savefile.com/files.php?fid=7240061 I made it with Windows moviemaker, the song in the video is MetalMan StainlessSteel from Overclocked Remix. And the video is from Morimotos and Finalfighters run. Don't be too hard on me, I've never made a musicvideo before... I didn't spend a lot of time on that one. Well, maybe some of you will like it. EDIT: After comparing video quality to the run itself, I now realize that I lost a lot of vide quality in the encoding... Sorry about that, but I'm just really really bad at how moviemaker works. You'll have to manage the crappy video quality. On the upside, filesize is low.

Wow, you redid the last boss fight faster than I thought. You know I totally dig this movie Sami. Very entertaining and very fast. Your DKC runs are always awesome. :) Voting Yes of course. This movie was really "hyvä", as you say. ;)

Wow, then you really have to send some tapes or DVD-recordings to SDA and/or Twin-Galaxies. :) Beating the Super Mario speedruns is quite a huge deal... If you're unsure how to record to VHS or DVD read the FAQ on SDA first...

Oh, sorry didn't take different timings into aspect... Out of curiosity, do you play all runs on emulator or are some of them on console? If you can pull a faster SMB 1 speedrun off on console, that would be really awesome. :) If you didn't know, emulator speedruns are not accepted because they can't detect whether you used savestates or not.

I don't want to crush your hopes or anything andrewg, but: SMB 1 in 05:06 - http://speeddemosarchive.com/Mario1.html SMB 2 in 09:42 - http://speeddemosarchive.com/Mario2.html SMB 3 in 11:11 - http://speeddemosarchive.com/Mario3.html These are all legit speedruns played on a real NES.

I believe you just have to walk over them quickly without stopping even once on one of these hand-levels... at least if I remember correctly. EDIT: Yeah, what Baxter said below... sorry for being wrong, hehe.

Well, if you need help understanding how FCEU works or anything, or general tips and feedback, I can help out. But be warned, I have never played or even heard about this game. :) As for luck manipulation, it's easiest pulled of by performing attacks on different drames and such, but sometimes luck manipulation requires more powerful tools such as programs and checking into the RAM... Anyway, could you please post what you've done so far (if any) so I can take a look at it and give some feedback?

This should do the trick: 1. Download FFDShow from here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=1230&s=50 2. Install FFDShow 3. Play the movie in a good movieplayer, such as VLC Player or BSPlayer, or whatever you like. :)

Thank you Guybrush! And thanks to everyone else who have voted yes on this. This game is very straightforward, which makes it hard to improve much... There are no special moves that allows moving forward faster (such as sliding in Mega Man), which makes a run like this hard to improve much timewise. So with these things in mind, I think this is a decent improvement. And yes Vatchern, the level select music isn't the best I've heard either... ;)

Nice work, Vatchern. A good run and a good song mixed together is never wrong ;). Keep these musicvideos coming, I think they're great to watch. :)

I really like this idea... If I learn how, I'm interested in doing some music videos myself. By the way, great SSF2 video, tailz. :)

Wow, this movie is amazing! Really fun watching, I liked how you glitched through the floor now and then. ;) I really can't find the right words to describe this, but truly, this was one of the best TAS I've seen in quite a while. Voting Yes, not that it really matters though. :) Way to go!

Bumping this thread just to tell that I've uploaded this movie on archive.org: http://www.archive.org/download/rockman3-tas-nickvatc/rockman3-tas-nickvatcher.avi So if any moderator or admin reads this, feel free to add this mirror to the movie-description...

This movie looked very good in my opinion, so I'm voting Yes. A 3:26 improvement is really amazing... Great job for a first movie! :) I hope you take on version 2 of this run soon.

I voted Yes for your first submission, and since this is clearly faster and better, this is an auto-Yes. Very nice techniques you've found for this version... Not much more to say, great job Guybrush. :)

I for one have never heard of it, and it isn't mentioned on the "Super Mario Bros Tricks" page... It looks pretty cool, though I don't see where it can save any time.

This sounds like a good idea... I'm up for doing a segment or two, as long as it's a fairly good game, and it will of course be a plus if it's fairly popular so I've played it before. ;) I recommend a typical platformer that doesn't require too much planning beforehand, since even unexperienced users often can contribute to such a TAS. Just my 5 cents.

Good to see you're still working on this, I was just about to ask how you were progressing when i saw this post. I watched your WIP, and I can't say anything else but great job. The edgeboost trick was used everywhere it could be used (at least what I saw), you didn't stop anywere (like where you stopped in the second stage in your first movie), and I didn't notice any lag. I don't think it gets any faster than this now. :) One tiny flaw in the movie is that you don't kill all enemies that you can kill. Not that this saves any time, but it makes the run look a little cooler perhaps. But in general you kill all enemies that are killable without slowing down, so it's no biggy at all. One question on the second boss fight: Is it faster (and if so, how much faster?) to kill the two werewolves with Amagon rather than using Megagon? I mean, sice you turn into Megagon after you've killed them, you will still have to put up with the waiting period of turning into Megagon... Although with Amagon I guess you can kill them at a greater distance, but on the other hand they take less attacks to kill with Megagon... Meh, I don't know, this is probably a stupid question... :) A great improvement, I hope you get another WIP up soon. Good luck!
