Because we only have 3 whistles. While he "officially" used 2, when you blast the wall to go to ToonTown, you use one by default, since B is used for the dynamite/detonator combo AND the whistle.

Crap... I don't know what happened in my run, but the items aren't at the same places... There's a Rose instead of the Shoes!! :(

Question: do you HAVE to buy the Whistle? Or you can find it in a building? I *think* I found one in a building when I was young.

Well, if we remove all the guard-killers items (cheese and rattle), we do have enough lives to go through them, pick the item and die. (Detonator, and a part of the Will.) That is if we buy the Shoes at the Store. Else, it's 3 deaths, and Eddie has 3 lives... I think... We need to start a little walkthrough now.

Oh ok! When I get back home I'll try to change the stores' items' order, by pressing start later at the title screen.

So on what frame did you start the game to get the shop to start at the Cigar? If you noticed, it's the same loop, but it simply started with another item in the list. If it's only a One frame matter to get another store, we should manipulate that to get the most conveniant item first. Like the Whistle to get Benny earlier, or another item a bit off-course.

At the title screen at the beginning, did you press start on the first frame possible? (i.e. 534)?

Another thing: it seems that everything I start a game, the first item available in the store is the Dynamite. Then, the Whistle. I still don't know what influences the item rotation... Time? Number of times in and out of a building? Items picked up? You have to buy the available item 10 times? I dunno...

I did a test run of my own, I just got the Spring Shoes. I take the wallet in front of the office because I have an idea for later. Discovered some tricks here and there. Boom.

Back on topic: I'll give a try to that game. I'll try getting a Whistle from the shop (or is there a place close to the route that has a Whistle?), I have an idea.

What? Spoilers? That's the first time I hear that word when Time Attacking a game.

what button to press
It's kinda tricky, it only works when you're on the road (I don't know where exactly). You have to select the whistle before going back on the "world map", then press B. The whistle only works on some parts of the road. It doesn't work on some places. When you'll use the whistle, you'll hear it.
and how long it takes for Benny to get there?
Depends if he's close or far from you. He jumps buildings, so I'd say about 3 seconds.

You can only use the Whistle when you're on the "World Map"

Well, the Spring Shoes are mandatory, unlike the 3 kill-guards items, that you have to buy/find in trash cans and other places... If you could survive that trick, that would save lots of time.

Did you get the Wire for the long-zipping technique? Or did that trick became obsolete when you found the trick with Rush-Jet?

The meat, cheese and fishbones might be useless, because I recall using the Spring Shoes to get the item they're guarding. I dunno how I did that, it happened once to me. And I don't even remember if I survived using that trick.

You can complete the chapiter without completing the King's order, but I don't know how that could be any quicker though...

Btw, in Chapter 2, instead of simply using the Door command on the door in the tower, you used the thief key. When you have a key in your inventory, you don't have to use it, the Door option "upgrades" itself.

I don't think the missed shot effected my time nor do I think I lost any frame because I jumped at the exact moment in order to slide, though the missed shot as you noticed occurred due to I wanted to charge my beam up for the battle with Pharaoh Man.
Instead of that extra shot, how about you use the shot that kills the monster to charge your Buster? Maybe that extra shot isn't slowing the game, but it's not aesthetic...
