WHAT THE HELL? Turns out there's been a hidden folder on my desktop, and because of its name I really haven't got the courage to do anything with it. It's 15 megabytes in size, and "Properties" says that it contains 159 files and 7 folders. So, what is it? My main questions are basically: 1) Has an individual (that is, a hacker) put this here, or a program? 2) Is it even possible that snooping around in it will trigger some sort of code execution (thereby ruining my computer)? 3) What is it? 4) Have you heard of anything like this?
Turns out I'm an idiot. It was my own folder which had gone hidden in some way. Yay me.

1) If you didn't put it there, someone did. 2) It is possible that there is a file in there that, when ran, could do something detrimental. An easy way to find out is to copy the folder to a flash drive, put it on a library computer, and open/explore it on that computer. 3) It's a folder, silly. 4) Yes, and it rarely amounts to anything. That being said, open it on someone else's computer to see what happens. If, after a week, their computer is ok, delete it. If not, email it to everyone you dislike.

Or you could view it in command prompt (cmd) using cd and dir as your tools. And get anti-virus in future :P

opening a folder never does anything. I don't know where you people get that.
