Console Verfification is the process of playing back a TAS movie file on a real console using a replay device, often held by TASBot during various charity events like Games Done Quick.
Verifying a TAS on a real console starts with a TAS movie file (often converted to a suitable format using a "dump script") and a replay device that emulates a controller. The process is similar to a player piano where turning on the console prompts the controller (the replay device) for the first set of button presses, then the second, and so on from the beginning of the movie to the end with the result that the entire movie file originally produced in an emulator is played back on a physical console. TAS movies that have been verified this way are referred to as console verified movies and are denoted with a .
The process of performing a console verification is described on the ConsoleVerification/Guide page.
